NOT a competitive list, just playing with my group of friends (I do still like to win obviously).
I thought I would try splitting my army into two pretty symmetrical halves and giving it a shot for fun - I typically play against Necrons, CSM, BA, Orks, and once in a blue moon Eldar. I don't mean for this to be a massive spam list, though it's probably about as un-fluffy as you can get at the moment and there are plenty of fliers in our group of players as well. I would use the Barebones CCS as an HQ chilling in the back, while the CCS in the Chimera basically acts as the cheaper fourth vet squad to balance the two halves (unfortunately without the ability to hold objectives).

If anyone has tried something like this and has an opinion, or what you might do to make it better against the armies I mentioned above I'd love to hear your take.

Well, I guess I don't understand taking the units without special / heavy weapons. What are they supposed to be doing?

Also, why take a 2nd CCS, and why take a 2nd PCS? If you drop those, you could put some actual threat into your infantry. I mean, GL / AC are so cheap and they add a ton of options / punch to your ISQ, they're the minimum I'd add to them.

I personally prefer Plasma / Lascannons... they work very well in my metagame. Not everyone's idea of a good time, but I swear by it. Once your infantry have upgraded weapons, the CCS's orders have some better value, so maybe keep them.

Also, I like AC on the Melta Vets. If their ride gets blown up, they can still contribute to the game with the AC, and they don't have to run through no-man's-land getting shredded by bolters.

I would drop a unit, and throw a bunch of upgrades into your infantry.

I typically am not a fan of wasting too many points on BS3 guardsmen, that's why I bring the Vets and send the infantry straight to some objectives or use them to protect tanks. A GL or heavy weapon here or there wouldn't hurt though.

I guess I could make the infantry a bit more shooty and have them hang back while melta vets charge up front, but I don't see why I'd put an AC in with the mobile guys seeing as it would be snap firing 90% of the time and only useful once I get blown up.

The second CCS gets me a cheaper disposable squad with 3-4 meltaguns that can give orders to itself and surround infantry, that's why I find it to be a great addition if you already have a lot of scoring units.

I may take out one PCS and upgrade a few squads of guardsmen to sit back with some big guns, but I definitely want a couple squads to basically just be a cheap distraction/cannon fodder as they already have a lot of support.

Thanks for the input.

You could make the normal Ig unit a PCS and 4 IG squads into 1 blob with 4 auto cannons the extra 10 pts for the fourth autocannon comes from the CCs dropping 1 melta.

So, don't forget the Vendettas are Transports, and can easy score you Linebreaker.

The most obvious fix I have for you is to drop the naked Company Command Squad, which currently doesn't really do anything, and use those points to buy each of the Platoon Command Squads Flamers, then put a spare Melta Gun on your CCS for 4 total.

Then, you put the 4x Flamer PCS' in the Vendettas. Now you have 4 Flamers, on each one, that you can drop anywhere you like. OR, you can keep them in there and drop them in your opponent's DZ for Linebreaker.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.
