I haven't played Candy Crush, but I've seen it played. It's a Clone/ripoff of Bejeweled.

Banner saga is a beautifully made, if frustrating game.

So, has anyone seen this? Because I'm very surprised it exists.

Kotaku (and all video game related sites) are blocked on my work's computer network (anything labeled "game" really, which is excessively stupid but whatever) so I am unable to follow the link.

The company that makes Candy Crush Saga are claiming nobody but they can use the words "Candy" or Saga" in the title of a game.

They have Candy, they do not yet have Saga since that is still pending last I checked. However from what they did with Candy I wouldn't be surprised with what they'd do if they managed to get it, however I think they won't.

Yeah, they already own the word Candy and it's not just for video games. Though AFAIK it's never actually been opposed.

But trying to own Saga because you nonsensically put that behind your names is like a novel publisher copywriting the word Trilogy.

I'm still COMPLETELY baffled how they got the word candy though. I didn't think one could copy right a word like that.

It's copyrighted across everything as well...

Well that's the beauty of it (from a general IP protection PoV tho I'm not that versed in the US one) a court will only act if there is somebody contesting King.com claim to own "saga" and that costs money so their plan may be to go after smaller companies first, bullying them with their lawyers so when the thing is taken to a court they can point with their best inocent look that a lot of companies agreed with their Trademark and did not fight it previously.

Trying to copyright a single word (real word, not made up word) is beyond ludicrous.

Don't forget that time Apple tried to patent moving your thumb from one side of a tochscreen to the other (I think they won that one too).
