What can shoot the death leaper, that is my question. It states it can only be shot with snap fire. (I am ushure of the wording.)

Can it be shoot by the wall of flame when it charge something?
If a pie plate scatters on top of him, what happens?

Could always try and park a cheap vehcile on him, if close to the edge try and force him of the table or into impassable terrain or other models.

Shooting at Deathleaper requires the model to fire snapshots. Overwatch is a snapshot during assault phase. Wall of Death specifically is used by template weapons during Overwatch, targeting the unit that declared the charge.

I would certainly appreciate knowing why Deathleaper cannot be fired upon by a unit with a template weapon when Deathleaper declares a charge against them.

Wall of death is a specific attack dealing with overwatch. He didn't say you couldn't target him with a template weapon. And the OP asked, specifically about Wall of Death.

Since i didnt play against nids and didnt read the codex so far and the question seems to be answered already id like to know something. I always hear "he cant be shot by anything but snapshots".

Can a unit that fires at him elect to snapshoot him? And while we're at it ... can (theoretically) any unit decide to snapshoot in general?

Wait... someone actually read his rules and thought that units couldn't opt to shoot at him, hitting only on 6's?

just a question since i play against tyranids on the weekend and im sure that he will use deathleaper since he already bragged about how awesome he is, So i just wanted to know how that whole "can only be hit by snapshots" works. So i suppose when shooting at him you snapshot with the unit when targeting him and thats it. Correct?

Its not like it would be impossible that GW published a broken rule. Hence my question.

Consider it like a flyer (except the templates/blasts part)
If you shoot him, you'll be snapshot-ing.
About other units choosing to fire snapshots against an enemy that doesn't require it, I don't think you can choose to shoot worse than usual, for example you must shoot all your shots ( you could simply not shoot members of your squad though I think)

Yes I meant Wall of Death. You can only fire snap shots in Overwatch except for templates which do Wall of Death which is not a snap shot, nor does it count as a snapshot therefore it can't be used against Deathleaper.

I think your completely wrong. Using Wall of Death, since its only used in Overwatch, is by definition, a snapshot, since all Overwatch shots are snapshots.

Not all Overwatch shots are snap shots. Wall of Death isn't (you can't snap shot a template). It is done instead of a snap shot, which tells you it isn't a snap shot.

p13 describes what is classified as a snap shot.

it specifically states that template weapons cannot fire snap shots....

unless it gets FAQ'd that templates can be used during the overwatch phase at present the RAW is clear that he is immune to them. (which sucks for me since I play salamanders....)

Since Wall of Death does not "count as" a snap shop, but may be fired "instead of" a snap shot, it is not considered a Snap Shot for the purposes of other rules.

That is fallacious logic.
Wall of Death is an exception to the Overwatch rules concerning snapshots. It is not an example.
A snapshot is a ranged attack that is resolved at BS1 instead of the model's normal BS. Wall of Death is not resolved at BS1. Ergo, wall of death is not a snapshot.

Wall of death only exists in overwatch. So this is the first time this has come up(a rule declaring that only snap shots can target a model that can assault); flyers cannot assault, and even if one could, their rules specify that they can never be hit by template weapons(Same for swooping FMCs, cannot charge and cannot be hit by templates).

Crew shaken and Go to Ground both force snap shots.

And don't allow for wall of death unless the unit is getting charged(which specifically allows for wall of death).

I wanted to call shenanigans on the no wall of death, but after reading p.52 and D.Leaper's entry I would agree that you cannot. You can only fire snap shots when targeting Deathleaper; wall of death is made "instead" when firing overwatch, but is not a snap shot. Very clear wording and more of a reason to go grab the fella.

It doesn't actually say that. It says that unit targeting the Deathleaper can only fire snap shots (just like unit that has gone to ground can fire only snap shots.)

On the subject of mr Death, would joining a Tyranid prime to him mean he can only be targeted with snapshots aswell?

This will probably be FAQ'ed. Oh well, it would be nice to have him charge into things with falmers. :-)

You fire Snap Shots at him, I think that's fairly clear. So, any weapons that can't be Snap Shot with - i.e blast templates - can't fire at him. Scattered blasts don't count, since you didn't target him. Wall of Flame still hits him, because the Snap Shooting of a flamer in overwatch is a specific instance that's dealt with quite clearly in the rulebook.

WoD is not a snapshot, you just can use it in overwatch. Except against Deathleaper you can't because it is not a snapshot.
