I've only ever found a couple worthy of watching more than once.
Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained. That's it for me.
Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Vol.1 were the only movies I liked. I've watched all of his films because Pulp Fiction was utterly amazing and I keep hoping something like that will show up again. He hasn't come close to making anything that good since. The rest I found either irritating or total snoozefests.

Anybody fancy making an alteraton to the Guess Who meme. Jules (Sam Jackson) is playing "Guess Who?" with the girl from the box art, with the quote "Does he look like a bitch?". If anybody could substitute the card for a picture of Tarintino it would make my sides rupture.

Meh, call me weird but I'd be pretty pissed if a rough draft of something I was working on got leaked to the public (my rough drafts are worse than the worse fan fiction you've ever read) and I'd feel pretty pissed if someone I trusted enough to show said draft let it slip.
But then I'm not a famous movie producer who earns millions

Reservoir Dogs is six shades of fething awesome. How anyone can watch that for the first time and not be impressed is beyond me. Pulp Fiction is similarly awesome, but it has suffered a bit for over exposure and imitation.
IIRC, Tarantino wrote and directed the first half of Dusk til Dawn, and Robert Rodriguez wrote/directed the second half. That is why there is such a jarring stylistic shift when they get to the Titty Twister[ It's a fun, campy horror slasher flick. It's got freaking Cheech and a hidden penis gun. It does NOT take itself seriously.
I LOVED KB vol. 1, but did not really like KB vol 2 or Inglorius Basterds, and for that reason haven't made the effort to watch Django Unchained. Is it really worth my while?

Django is a return to form for Tarantino in my opinion, it's not Reservoir Dogs good but it is Pulp Fiction good. Perhaps this "Hateful Eight" would have been his next Reservoir Dogs?

I'm a little surprised by the hate for Inglorious Basterds in this thread. I thought it was clearly among his best films, the time he finally managed to use all his style and excess to actually say something that was worth thinking about.
As to this script, I'd guess that he sent it to those six people because he wanted specific feedback from them about the project, input in to how to advance the project... especially the actors, who were likely penned in as certain characters. When someone involved showed they weren't worth trusting, well that it pretty likely to kill a project stone dead.

I didn't enjoy any of the bits with the Basterds, except the slapstick where Pitt is trying to pass himself of as Italian. The opening scenes on the little farm in France, the bluffing in the bar, the lovely girl and her fatally persistent suitor, that I liked. I just didn't like the Basterds.

Is that really fair though? I mean, I was surprised too when I started watching the film, but then I just went along for the ride. Whatever I'd been told in the ads, what I was watching was pretty interesting in its own right.
I'm not okay with deceptive trailers, but if we resent it everytime the film we get isn't the exact genre we were promised and nothing else, aren't we just going to end up with lots of cookie cutter movies that are easy to explain in trailers? Automatically Appended Next Post: LordofHats wrote:For a guy whose work is so obviously influenced by westerns, that he doesn't make more has always puzzled me.
I like how, for a guy who clearly loves genre movies and tries to make each of his movies in a particular genre, they all end up basically being Tarantino movies.
Kill Bill was an action movie, but really it was a Tarantino movie. Inglorious Basterds was a war/spy/revenge movie, but really it was a Tarantino movie. Django was a western, but really it was just a Tarantino movie.

I've been refusing to pay money to Quentin Tarantino ever since he told Wizard magazine that he wouldn't do a comic book movie, "because f--k those comic book geeks."
He's a pretentious turd-muffin whose been coasting on selling puerile pulp fiction (pun definitely intended) his entire life. To make it worse, he then turns around and craps on the fans who prop his career up. His work lacks originality, artistic merit, or intellectual substance. I'll still watch it, don't get me wrong, because it's definitely entertaining. (Bubblegum is fun to chew sometimes--but it's still lacking in any nutritional merit.) I just won't watch it if I'm paying for it.
It's also no secret that he's a tantrum-throwing child. It's behavior he's demonstrated plenty of times before. I'm not especially shocked to see he's failed to evolve in the last twenty years. Lord knows his movies haven't.

actually... death proof was... that good kind of bad or the bad kind of good... IE it was horrible, but I couldnt turn away... definetly not a great movie though... but Ill be damned if it didnt freak me out just a little as the killer actor is phenominal and basically is the best part of the movie, I was happy when the girls won at the end.
inglorius basterds was, entertaining, but it could have been so much more... I dunno, it felt like a "pulled punch" or something... the side story about the girl takes over, and its suddenly about killing hitler and some sappy love story.
should have just kept on killing nazis in a non time line altering way...
right after the scene in the basement in the bar is where it kinda falls apart.

I kind of like how historically inaccurate Inglorious Basterds it gave it sort of a war propaganda feel to it, plus there's been many films based around that time period that have created fairly realistic depictions of that era (Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, etc) so something done in a more
goofy fashion came across as refreshing to me.

Inglorious Bastards seems to be a real Marmite film. Personally I loved it. I'm also a big defender of Kill Bill part 2 which I think is just as good as part 1.
Django Unchained however was rather average. Far too long and I've no real desire to watch it again. Samuel L Jackson was great, as always. But nothing else was particularly memorable.

Agreed. I loved it nearly as much as Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill was good too but KB II was meh. Django was good but not great. Death Proof was agonizingly awful. I didn't like Reservoir Dogs and turned it off actually.
Your mileage may vary.
