Escalation tournament coming up and I know there will be Revenants.

What are the most efficient ways of dealing with these nasty titans when playing the Space Marine 'dex -- while maintaining a TAC list?

Stronghold is allowed as well.

I have an Aquila Strongpoint that I can use as well -- all the other stuff I have are Salamanders-type units (lots of melta, drop pods etc.)

I'm thinking about buying some Stormravens and fitting melta, but not sure if that will do.

Just not sure how people are dealing with these D-Weapons and living to fight beyond the first couple of turns.

Advice is greatly appreciated!

Command squad w/ 5 melta guns, melta bombs on the champ, drop pod - 185pts
10 Sternguard w/ 10 combi melta, melta bombs, drop pod - 370
10 Sternguard w/ 10 combi melta, melta bombs, drop pod - 370

Combat squad the Sternguard and spread them to max coherency on both sides of the pod. It only has 2 Blasts if it survives 25 point blank melta shots. The remaining squad can charge it's AV 12 w/ Krak and Melta. Your opponent will lose 1000 pts turn one and you will have 25 veteran marines left to show for it.

If a thunderhawk is wthin your budget, fill it with hammernators and fit the turbo-laser on top. Might be too many eggs in one basket, but it sure is killy, and most SHV cant target it (with exception to Rail type Tigershark). If your D weapon doesn' kill it, you got hammernators that can move out the Assault ramp and smash it in combat.

If not, then Steel Rain like the previous post works too. Wait, did I just say STEHUL RAYN!?!?

Pretty much, drop it with steel rain would be the cheapest way in terms of cash. Unless you want to model a thunderhawk by slapping two storm ravens together instead of shelling out 400$ for a giant flyer then please go right ahead.

Definitely not (also, where do I get one for $400?) -- that's a deal!

So, crazy melta spam seems to be the best trick --- well I can't argue with that logic, and it fits my fluff and compliments Vulkan quite well. Not much I can argue with that, especially since that's typically what I bring anyway. I've never faced a SH, so wasn't sure if my normal lists could handle it without a direct counter.

I'll give it a shot in a test game this weekend.

Thanks guys

Massive melta overkill IS a direct counter, so you're pretty much playing the optimal Chapter for that.

Grav Centurions do surprisingly well too since they strip HPs and bypass any cover saves the vehicle can take.

I know it's kinda odd, but I really like abusing the Quadgun. The Revanent is AV12, so the S7 does a pretty good job of getting damage onto the titan. Assault Cannons or even Heavy Bolters work in a pinch. Since they get the Holofield save against each shot, I like to try and take down the Eldar titans with mass S6/S7 shots rather than try and get in close with melta. Or, you can bring a Warhound w/ 2 Turbo Destructors. Every time I get into a slug match with my titan hunter Warhound vs a Revanent the Warhound wins. Regenerating Void Shields for the win. and the rest of the eldar army shooting at the Warhound has the AV14 to deal with.

Can you bring any superheavy in Escalation or just the ones in the actual expansion?

Technically only the specific ones that are approved, but IIRC every superheavy has been approved for at least one army. I think the only one there's any uncertainty about is one of the ork Stompa variants.

This is bad math. The quad gun has more shots, but is less likely to penetrate with each shot and much less likely to inflict extra HP damage when it does. Adding the holofield save does absolutely nothing to change this: the better weapon against conventional AV 12 is also the better weapon against AV 12 with a holofield.

Don't use it. Massive fortifications die on a 2+ against D-weapon hits just like normal fortifications, and it's pretty much impossible to miss one with a D-weapon shot. So your 500+ point fortification is almost guaranteed to die on the first turn, and the troops inside aren't going to be very happy when it does. Even if you can't take titan counters with those 500 points you're better off bringing redundant objective holders and hoping you've still got something left alive when the game ends.

Better hope you get first turn or that "if" becomes a "when". Farseer + landing pad = re-rollable 4++, on top of the 4+ to negate any damage. Your 25 melta shots are going to get about two hits, and then you have to roll to penetrate and do damage.

The remaining squad can charge it's AV 12 w/ Krak and Melta.

No it can't. You can't assault out of deep strike, and the titan can move 36" a turn away from you to stay out of assault range.

It is also relatively easy to block drop pods getting close enough by proper deployment. He can have the revenant in a corner, wrapped with serpents and with their movement you will soon be out of position to matter anymore.

That said, melta might do the job

Take nothing but aircav and fly in circles for 4 turns, then land on objectives and hope you roll a 1-2. Escalation (especially with D spam) just seems like the least fun way to play rock-paper-scissors ever.

Triple Stormravens, maybe add a Stormtalon or two
Sternguard w/ combi melta in drop pods x2. A lot will depend on how aware your opponent will be when using a Revenant. I'd throw mine on a Skyshield and bubble wrap with a 20 man Guardian squad to ensure melta can't get up close to me.

Fill out the rest designed to kill the rest of his army. Not sure how many points your event is, but I'm assuming 1850-2500 points.

Don't take a fortification against a Revenant.

Find the best way to get Telepathy and go for Puppet Master and blow his army up with the Revenant.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
