Proof it can be done. My gaming group has decried me for claiming one of the other players can do this and it's maddening that they won't listen. Either they think it's just part of the game, or they are foolish, or they just plain feel sorry for the guy, because he has a lot of problems. What do I do about them? No amount of rational discussion seems to dissuade them of the notion that he is right and I am wrong. I have played this game for decades, and I hate to give it up just because of one bad seed.

Either don't play him anymore or invest in some dice towers to remove any suspicion.

Also those were some really bland videos you linked. Searching "Jiggaboo Jones Dice" brings up some very entertaining examples of this.

Honestly, if your going to look across the table and decided that someone is setting dice, you don't sound like that fun of a dude to play with.

Unless the person refuses to let you handle the dice they're playing with, I advise that you refrain from accusing people of this

Huh, 10 rolls and Ive gotten 11 every time. Very interesting.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I knew that it was possible to do this kind of thing, but I never really thought seriously about doing it or how I would go about it. Of course, that doesn't help much if you're rolling a double handful of dice for rapid fire shots

P.S. I'll just be waiting now for some player who insists on rolling all his rapid fire shots 2 at a time.

If you are rolling huge handfuls, it's not really an issue. You would literally have to lineup all the dice in a nice line in your palm and flip them straight down onto the table, otherwise the dice knock each other around.

Another option is to get a slightly larger surface, and have everyone bounce the dice off the wall, like casinos do. If there is one group that has this issue solved, it's casinos.

Drop your dice in the top, keeps them in a small area so less chance of having to chase dice down.

Roll the dice the same way against him or don't play that guy. Simple solution to a simple problem.

well the rules say each roll should be done separate . that helps a lot if someone ones to rolling like that . big number of dice rolled at the same time are better for loaded dice . You don't even have to be rolling all 6 , that would probably get noticed, but being just a bit above the avarge or being sure that maybe your plasmas don't always on snap shot , but they never overheat is a big gain . Being able to play with 5-6man sniper squads or genestealers and knowing that you will always have two head shots or two rendings , no matter what helps to balance out weaker units .

The fact a game comes down to the singular dice roll more so than the handfuls makes this behaviour deplorable.

Precision hits
Grounding checks
Snapfiring heavys at fliers
When the game ends
Key leadership checks
Cover saves on vehicles
FNP on MC
Invuls on Warlords

Very odd to see anyone endorse this technique.

Congradulation OP on likely spawning numerous more dice manipulators or those that make shoddy attempts at it by publicly posting this thread!

Also, best solution would be to just construct house rules with your local community on violent dice roles that make manipulation impossible. Just get some large box and tell people to pretty much chuck the dice into the wall of it, or a wargaming table with a lip. Plus it allows people to take out their frustrations at bad roles with dice.

That was my solution as well. I have been cussed at, told that I am sad, I need to "Get Laid", that I had "No Tactics" and had my masculinity questioned. What the Hell man!

No offense... you really might want to leave that group. I know it kinda sucks but... that's a bit much. Along with that, whilst I don't want to point fingers at you, and it is possible you really are in the "right" whatever that term means, it doesn't deny the possibility that... this seems a bit extreme for just somebody cheating.

This reeks of only being half the story.

Again, questioning the way someone rolls dice in 40k is kinda absurd. And 2/3'rds of the videos you linked were irrelevant (one had the audio added after the fact, the other was a description of how to slide dice across the table without rolling them).

My advice is to drop the whole thing man, dice aren't that important. Hell, when I'm playing I make a point of only deciding that a dice is in fact cocked when its in the other persons favor; softens the mood of the game quite a bit.

Simple answer, demand that "to avoid suspicion", if a dice didn't ROLL on the table, it wasn't rolled at all.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

It's a lot of not rolling to achieve a decent number, the reality is if it rolls it's unpredictable

We had the exact same thing at our LGS. We waited on the group of players to come in who we're doing it and had the LGS store owner with us.

The LGS owner informed the group they could either give up their dice or leave the LGS forever. 2 guys did with no problem, the third threw an absolute fit and chucked his dice container at the owner of the store. He missed and hit the army displayed cracking the glass and send a lot of models to the ground.

Police were called to the store and the guy was arrested.

Having just come back from Battle Brothers, I did see a lot of folks trying the channel method. Where they make a V in their palm and let the dice roll down. But you see a few guys with their precise rolling technique.

Rather than my own grab dice, pickup figures method.

It definitely goes on. Not sure quite how successful it is though.

I'm sorry, but if I think someone is doing straight drops or the like, I'm not playing against them. It's a game, I play to enjoy, I do NOT enjoy someone cheating.

People cheat, its a fact of life and gaming. Whether it be from straight drops and the like or from physically modifying their dice to roll 6s. It happens. Now, I'm not condoning what they do, it annoys me to no end. But the only thing we can really do is ban them when we catch them. I'm not a fan of making people buy and play with towers, simply because I myself don't like using them as they're another thing I'd have to carry around with me.

Hmmm. There are undoubtedly shenanigans that go on with dice in wargaming but I can't say I worry about the ones portrayed in these videos. It's worth saying that people have dice rituals and superstitions (I'm guilty) that they think affect their rolls but I've never seen what appears to be someone physically trying to control them through some bizarre posture or arranging them in their palm before the toss. On the other hand, I suppose I can see how someone would get suspicious if the guy across the table had to nestle or orient them in his palm before the toss.
