I love the idea of an all Drop Pod army so I came up with this list, and I was wondering how this it would do in a semi-competitive environment. Do you think it's effective, or does it need any tweaking to be better?

I've seen a moderation of this list somewhere. If you take out one of the stern guard and replace it with a techmarine, it allows you to boost your cover save when you arrive from the pod. Tigurius allows you to use prescience on your 'guard... smart move. I'd drop the two heavy flamers and replace them with combi's. Then, replace one of the drop pod tac. squads with a bike squad with 2 grav-guns and a combi-grav.

I would switch the heavy flamers out but I'm not sure I have enough anti-horde. Maybe I could drop one sternguard and add 2 combi-meltas, or do I really not need the flamers?

I think you have enough anti horde... if you give two tac squads flamers instead of meltas... I think two flamer squads (or even one) can do some damage. Two meltas should be good. Combi's really let the sternguard shoot some templates then shoot really whatever else.

@OP: Cool list! i hope it does well. I am not a believer in heavy flamers on the Sterns. I don't think they will turn the tide in horde control. Not to mention most hordes will have the ability to assault from outside template range. So really all you might want is a combi-flamer for the overwatch auto D3 hits.

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.

Combi-melta over plasma seems like a better choice for the tac sargs. I like to have the combi match the special weapon, doubles the chance of blowing up a tank turn one haha

I agree with this.

I might swap some of the tac squads around. Do you need that much melta? You could gear one squad with plasma/c-plas, another with flamer/c-flamer, etc.

Another option if you are worried about hordes is the 5 man 2xflamer assault squad in a pod. Costs dirt, lands and burns something. Cheep way of boosting your pod count as well.

But 2 heavy flamers AND a combi-flamer in overwatch is quite fun (3D3 hits, watch your charging opponents face drop as half his charging unit is taking wounds).
Suicide drop sternguard with 2 HF and special ammo works quite well for me tbh.

Looks solid. I might swap one of the c-meltas on the sternguard for a heavy flamer. But that might be the fact that I recently painted one myself and he did well in his first outing and I like the way he looks.

In all seriousness, the HF is the one weapon I’d give up the special ammo for. And there are so many things out there that just need to burn to death.

But at this point I’m just quibbling personal preferences, the list is solid.
