Subject: The Lego Movie is Indoctrinating Our Youth!
This is just too fething golden, it must be shared!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Its almost like Fox News, despite being on TV, has not paid attention to any filmed media (or any other media) for the last ... ever... years. Its not like corrupt CEO's haven't been a staple villain in comic books since almost the moment they started.
And I put it in the wrong forum XD

I don't get it for the Lorax, but yeah. Corrupt CEO's probably are a popular archetype brought on upon:
1. general distrust of bankers by people who didn't want to pay back the money they were loaned with extra money.
2. The Industrial Revolution
Also, why is this under video games?

Oh wait, that was already true.

It's about on par with those people who whine whenever a dirty cop is in a movie (because Hollywood hates cops), or a crazy soldier (because Hollywood hates soldiers), or that hero cop- Wait, I thought Hollywood hated cops? Then wtf is Die Hard about? And Saving Private Ryan seemed to praise the heroism and valor of soldiers to me (though, obviously we can conclude from the film that Hollywood hates Germans and publicists).
Fox has done this before and it makes them look so brain dead. They love attributing to Hollywood various political stances, as though everyone there is of the same opinion about everything, ignoring all the other movies they chuck out (and that lots of media uses most of the same motifs and isn't coming from Hollywood).
EDIT: Not even mentioning the increasingly blatant product placement in many films. Go on The Last Stand. Tell me more about how awesome the Corvette is. Oh wait, nevermind the hero is in the Camero, so clearly its a better car.

See this, this is my not at all surprised face. Remember this is the same fox news that said Sesame Street is turning kids into communists and is to be blammed for the occupy wall street movement.

Sometimes I think it would be great to have a version of Fox news here in the UK. Then I actually watch one of their segments and I count my blessings because feth me, they get worse with every video I watch. The willful ignorance of these people was painful to hear.

I think the most part about that video was claiming that the Lego villain looked like Mitt Romney. I mean that's just ridiculous so what if he has a hair style that looks like Romney, that means nothing. also the comment the the left wing hates capitalism that's just ridicules. But I guess that's really all we should expect from Fox news

It's a fantastic show on Fox News. At 3AM. It routinely beats stuff like Piers Morgan and everything on MSNBC in ratings. Despite the fact that it airs at 3AM. It's comedy gold, as seen here.

I feel like no one on that panel (except maybe the guest) actually saw the film...
Spoiler:
I mean it's a kid playing with Lego, the bad guy is "Lord Business" who is dressed in a suit similar to his dad, a businessman of sorts (probably not a CEO, just a cog in the corporate machine), Both Lord Business and the dad just want the various Lego worlds to be set up in very specific ways (thus the KraGle) and to remain that way.
Ugh, I'm glad I don't watch Fox News, I really don't need the headaches of their stupid 'discussion panels' and 'arguments'

It would be great. Then you'd get your own version of Red Eye.
That reference whooshed right over my head. Maybe that was intentional.
I assume he refers to this Red Eye With Greg Gutfeld. Basically South Park meets the Daily Show/Colbert Report.
I see.
Well, a quick YouTube video painted a pretty clear picture of the format.
I just don't think people in this country are confrontational enough to have our own version of Fox News. It's not the British way.
Sorry, not the English way, up north we're too stupid and lazy, and I do not jest.
But you've got the Tories and the Nationalists, I'm surprised you don't have something close.
The right and the left are very different from each other in the US compared to the right and the left in the UK. There's not the same middle ground conservative support base over here. Fox is the best example. You can watch that and see people regularly expressing pretty right wing views on abortion and religion and gender topics, but views that don't go all the way over to, for example, racism. In the UK, you wont find that. The right and the left are too similar, you'd have to go right the way over to the likes of the BNP to start really seeing an obvious divide. The problem there is that the BNP were widely ridiculed when they gained a little profile a few years ago, because they were racist and homophobic. That sort of passion and organised self expression isn't widespread or popular enough.
And as for the Tories, well, they're really not that conservative anymore, but it's less to do with them having lost their ideology, which isn't terribly extreme to begin with, and more to do with politicians in the House of Commons these days having completely lost their teeth. Thatcher was the last one with any real backbone.
Wait, what the hell am I doing talking about politics in the UK? Feth the lot of them, where's my Guy Fawkes mask.

I don't have a problem with dirty cops in films, books, or movies, but some directors/writers take it too far. When anyone does a show where a single profession (cops, soldiers, etc) are either villified or glorified beyond reason, it gets a little tedious.
Joss Whedon hates cops, for example. I haven't seen the SHIELD show yet, but outside of that, he has never done a television show with any law enforcement official, minor or otherwise, who wasn't crazy, stupid, or corrupt. I certainly can't think of one.
That being said, the corrupt CEO is a staple of the villain pool. Always has been, always will be. This was a stupid argument when they aimed it at the Muppets, and remains so.

You forgot the evil Christians, priests and preachers....especially Steven King films!!!

Yup (and the corrupt priest trope is older than dirt). Yet, Hollywood still produces tons of positively portrayed characters who are Christian, either as a side note or a major aspect of their character. Mel Gibson hijacking the film is the only reasons Signs was a passable picture. Who's seen Machine Gun Preacher? EDIT: Or Alien 3, which defied all initial suggestions that there was a creepy cult in the story and turned out to be filled with a bunch of guys who lack for a better term found Jesus?

Hollywood dominated by the far left? Are they delusional? Hollywood is as capitalist as capitalism can be.
The fact that something like Fox News exists and that people actually listen to it and believe what they say makes me very sad.

What do you mean it means nothing! It means the US could have had a president with Lego man hair. All the preschoolers could have identified with the president and the next generation would have been politically active - with Lego man hair...a whole generation of Lego men!
