Subject: Does the Blood Chalice FNP confer to attached allied HQ?

So question is in the title.
Let's say I have a unit of blood angels terminators with a sanguinary priest in TDA. I want to attach an inquisitor to the unit. The reading of the FAQ for the blood chalice says that it benefits "Units chosen from Codex: Blood Angels"
Since the inquisitor is part of the unit, does he benefit from FNP?
The other argument is that the attached HQ was not "chosen" from the codex, and was only attached later. so he does not count as a unit chosen from codex blood angels. My comeback to this is in the independent character description that says "while an independent character is part of a unit, he counts as part of the unit for all rules purposes"

Disagree. The wording of the Chalice is more specific and would disallow its use on the inquisitor.

I gave you the wording from the Chalice.
"All friendly units chosen from Codex:Blood Angels gain the furious charge and feel no pain special rules."
So this specifies the unit, and the unit complies, it was chosen from codex blood angels. And the IC is part of the unit, and the unit benefits from the rule, and according to IC rules, he also benefits from all rules the unit benefits from. Therefore, he gets the rule. I would agree with you if the blood chalice read " All friendly MODELS chosen from codex: Blood Angels"

Yes, except that he isn't a model from the BA codex.
There is a reason why they specify "...units/models from Codex X, Y or Z ".
He gain any other rules or powers that include him that does'nt specify anything abou the codex.
An Inquisitor isn't a model/unit from the BA codex, no matter what the IC rule says, it doesn't make him part of the BA codex.

The chalice doesn't say model, it says unit.
Is the unit the Inquisitor joined no longer a unit from the BA codex?

I agree. The IC gains FNP in this case.

For this particular case I would say 'yes'. As you are using the priest as a normal apothcary.

So the FAQ changed absolutely nothing This is one where I believe the RAI is absolutely clear.

Sure it did. Non BA units can't gain FNP. By the codex all friendly units could.

Prior to the FAQ the Blood Chalice worked for all friendly units with a Blood Chalice in them.
So in the case of a Sanguinary Priest (Blood Angels) joined to an Ultramarines Sternguard Squad, the Sternguard would gain FNP.
And in the case of, say, Marneus Calgar joined to a Blood Angels Honor Guard squad, Calgar also gains FNP.
Now, only Blood Angels units gain the benefits of the Chalice.
So in the first example, the Sternguard would gain no benefit at all.
In the second example, Calgar STILL gains FNP, because Independent Characters are considered to be part of the unit they join for all rules purposes.
