Actually its more likely that Metroplex will be sacrificed on eBay to help me get another Knight. After all, there are variants of Knight to be built.

Thanks to my dad's travels with the Royal Navy, I have a Diaclone Great Robot Base (Google it, its great) by Takara still lurking. Now that is a bad boy robot with a Battlecannon arm that just screams Titan!!

Weirdly, I went to the exact same location in the site, searched for 'apocalypse' and 'templates' as separate searches and as one phrase, and the site never showed me those, only the newer, unavailable, blue ones. Odd....

Sure? Doesn't look like any Geara Zulu I've ever seen. Can you give us the link? Looks like some weird steam punk Geara Zulu or Zaku.

Ah found it. Yeah that one you show is a one off custom job, done by a modeler. This is what they look like normally.

Ahhhh, aesthetics is all relative. What is awesome and fun to me and my firends probably is ridiculously offensive to someone else. It all comes down to what you are going to have fun with, really.

I do think its interesting to compare the prices of the products. The Bandai kits are pretty fiddly and detailed, and are much much cheaper. I guess they probably sell a ton more, but I don't know, seams like somebody know how to price their products a little better.

And that price is 140 USD.

funny thing is that if the rumors of the base being new are true, all these people wanting to use alternative models are gonna end up having to buy the kit to get the base anyway.

I mean let's face it from a game play prespective the base and "approx height/width" are the important things.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

You can always make a base. Or I'm sure GW will sell the bases for a reasonable price like $60.

i'm certainly in favor of people using whatever they want, I personally will be using dreamforge models for knights, I'll still buy a GW model just to have, but I much rather prefer the look of dreamforge. My comment was mainly to point out that people seem to only be concerned about the aesthetics of the model, till the actual real model has a large price tag.

On that point, I will agree with you. I know some people who will love the look of the GW Knight, look at the $140 price tag, and next thing I know they have an alternative model. I know, to me at least, the GW Knight looks better than the Dreamforge model (wont begrudge anyone who sees it differently and wants to use it), and I will be pre-ordering mine this Saturday. I will also be putting in a bunch of elbow-grease to work on a homebrew knight to run alongside it. But you know what they say money talks.

I often mention this in threads about upcoming GW releases that are shaping up to be popular.

Please, if you even have a slight issue with anything GW does, whether it be pricing, quality of rules, bullying legal tactics or unnecessary litigation, order through a third party.

It does mean you might not get the item in the very day of release, but it will serve several purposes.

It will support an independent retailer who will likely carry other, non-GW products! helping to build diversity in wargaming by keeping as many avenues to market for smaller companies open as possible.

It will likely gain you a discount on RRP

Any product sold through a third party nets GW ~40% less cash because they sell it at wholesale, meaning you can put some financial pressure on GW for whatever reasons you have personally, without cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Really, when you stop to think about it, there aren't many good reasons to buy from GW direct, unless something is only available from them.

We find comfort among those who agree with us - growth among those who don't. - Frank Howard Clark

And all of the 3rd party base sellers will have alternatives out within weeks.

I don't like the price one bit, but I love Titans and paid way more than was wise before. I have made up my mind and will buy one, but it had better be magnetisable, I will want all the options I like open to me.

One more thing, when this is released I will be doing a lot of shopping around.

Definitely agree with the above. I've pretty much stopped buying GW products for the past couple of years but I still play the games occasionally with my already painted forces (unpainted and/or incomplete forces have been largely sold off except for some ork stragglers). It doesn't affect GW much if I don't get to personally use my minis other than a miniscule bit of local exposure at the FLGS but it does affect me. That said.. with this latest edition.. 40k has largely become my game of last choice that I bring in case I can't rustle up an opponent for a game that I actively want to play/support. I am glad though that fans are getting a nice model and second the notion of getting it through a third party if you absolutely must have it. I'm fine with my (unfinished) Tau counts as Reaver titan superheavy Halo Scarab personally.
