That's a weird one but good. The riptide is tall because of the base and the knight is small because of the stance. Still. Fethin' huge!

More like Knight to DF Leviathan.

Agreed. If its 8" then that image with the Trygon must have been doctored somehow (or it must have been taken with the Forgeworld Trygon which as I understand it is a good bit larger).

More knights, here I come!

There is not much you can do with the stance, it's not posable until you get to the waste.

Maybe it is just the angle then. And is it really a flyer base?

Good thing its plastic. It will be easier to reposition the legs than if it were Resin.

Looks like a bigger base again. Eyes might be fooling me though.

Suddenly want to build an entire force of these. Dammit GW!

It's on the flyer base.

That's crazy about the base. Did you build that one d-usa or are you getting those pics from elsewhere?

I think getting creative with the basing could probably sort out the monopose leg issue, but then again who is really going to own five so that you'd notice?

Got to play with a model at the store today.

Looks pretty good. Lots of intricate details for painting, but looks like you can easily built it in layers and paint as you go.

The arms would be easy to magnetize (lots of articulation there), except the two guns share a common part that makes it a bit complicated.

Man, I cannot get over how great the knights look. They are such a perfect translation of epic into 40k. Whether or not I'd be able to ever play a game with them is another story. I feel like 40k is starting to get to the way I used to play Red Alert back in the day- just eschewing ground troops and going straight for an army of big things to decimate the computer's base.

The knights go really well with the Pacific Rim Theme in my opinion

I guess for me it's a question of which I'd rather have, dwarves or knights. That $140 is certainly a splash of cold water though.

If you're playing a wing of Knights, you gotta start playing that theme when you put them on the table

You what those bases needs to be more "colorfull" and "happy" looking?

Destroyed Riptides and Wraithlords, with the Knight with one foot on them, now that would be ballin'!

And its plastic gentlemans, you can do whatever you wanna do with plastic...

Now dunno if i'm gonna buy one and convert it to Chaos or...

Do something like this and play it has a Knight;

But in Chaos-form..., been years that i want to make one, a Chaos Metal Gear Rex..., now is my chance!

Wait- they had one at your FLGS!? I'm so jealous!

And good to hear them listed as 8" tall, makes me very happy

I know! I have this idea stuck in my head of a "proper" knight army for 40k- a wing of knights supported by men-at-arms-esque imperial guard forces, different squads painted up in the heraldry of the knights they serve under.

Must...resist!

I would like to see it next to a Wraithknight or a Trygon, I don't actually know how big a Riptide is off the top of my head so that image doesn't really help me.

If it's 8" tall then the Trygon picture we had previously was a lie, as there's no way it's almost 3" taller than a Trygon in that other image.

Anyway, Australian price is $155, so looks like there's no point importing them.

I'll grab one, or maybe two. The question is when will I grab it. i would kind of like to fill out my IG a bit more first, so maybe I'll grab one in a couple of months.

For people wondering about magnetizing the arms:

The weapon arms are movable at multiple places. They rotate at the elbow and they can rotate at the elbow (and probably at the wrist as well if you wanted it to be.

Here is the breakdown of where the separate pieces connect:

The shoulder attaches to the model, and you have full rotation there. The elbow is the section that is marked on both armes. The piece between the wrist and the elbow snaps around the disk that is attached to the upper arm and lets you rotate the gun along that axis. It would be very easy to glue a magnet into that piece and cut off the plastic disk on the upper arm and glue a magnet on the stump that is remaining on the upper arm. That should also stabilize the elbow joint from slipping sideways.

The big problem is that both guns share the same plastic piece that connects the elbow to the wrist joint, going from the red elbow line on gun arm and the gun then snaps around that piece. I don't know how tight the body of the gun fits around the forearm so I don't know if it would be possible to add a magnet to the forearm and the body of the guns.

Here is a shot from the instructions so that you guys can try to figure out the best way and order your magnets while you wait

Wow, just wow, been a long time since I've wanted a model that badly.

Also surprised that it is even bigger than what they told the stores, not 15CM, but close to 20!

As nice as this model is, and yes, I likely will buy one (if only as a showcase model for display), I am getting really tired of the escalation in 40k scale. I'd much rather have a couple of units of these things with several other detachments of infantry, armor, titans, etc in an epic scale game. Apoc scale 40k games are so tedious....and as a father of 3 with 2 jobs and cub scouts on top of that, I will never have time to sit through one. I'm at the point now, where I may just sell all of my 40k armies (sans one, for nostalgia and the odd beer and pretzels game). The rules have become so convoluted and bloated with the various expansions and countless dataslates, the balance is laughable, and the "anybody can take anything' takes the story and fluff and tosses them in the bin (IMO). I'm enjoying Warmahordes and Flames of War so much more these days....I even find Warhammer fantasy more appealing than the thought of having to suffer through another game of 40k...*end rant*

I'll believe it when someone has it pictured next to a ruler, if it's really 20cm tall, the earlier pictures we have must have been heavily doctored, photographed in a weird way or a different model.

Hang on - so White Dwarf has the rules for the actual model, but not the rules for which armies it can join?

GW doesn't want you to know that until AFTER you've bought one or three or five of them

I'm sure it will be available as an ally to any army, to maximize sales.

That's why they brought out Escalation, which is great fun, and really speeds up the game, so should be right up your street.

GW could care less about rules. All of the conspiracy theories that have to do with rules are silly. Sales stuff and rules stuff are completely separate. I really don't think the marketing / sales guys understand enough about the game to make decisions that would impact sales one way or another intentionally.

The spearhead bundle doesn't offer any savings. :(

So, since GW shut down my favorite store, which online (USA) place has the best discounts?

Didn't we have a rumour saying that you could field these on their own as a force?

I totally get what you mean about the Red Alert analogy. Every RTS for me would be build the horrifically large units and just plow through the computer. Wasn't the most tactically sound but it looked cool.

Spoiler:

It's that kind of thing that's part of the inspiration of wanting to own a fair few of these Knights.
