I'm not 100% sure but it looks like Kabalite Green: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat800003a&prodId=prod1500110a

You may want to look at the Dark Eldar colors in the paint system too, as that's probably what you would want for any washes or highlighting: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/paintChart.jsp?catId=cat820002a&rootCatGameStyle=paints-tools

I don't know if this is right, but I scaled them so that the base of the Space Marine is the same size as the base of the Guardian. Soooo... the Imperial Knight is no where near 8" then.

Incubi Darkness base, Kabalite Green layer, finally highlighted with Sybarite Green from what it looks like.

You need to go back to perspective school, Mark - your 'measurements' are waaay out.

Um...hate to do this, but it looks like GW ripped off the Cygnar Stormwall and threw a Chainsword on it. I love the model, but this is a PP influenced release with a PP influenced model.

No, it really is. It's a difference of much more than 0.3mm

Is that 120mm oval base... if so then this is not 8"

Oh it may look Cygnar like, but is a response to the release of the Leviathans and people using Leviathans in their apoc games, GW recognized that they have competition out there.

I'd say it's more like the the plastic or metal knights gw did in the 90's, possibly the ones that influenced pp originally? :p

Ninja'd it would seem

Only if GW also invented a time machine and went back to before 1990 in order to cover themselves.

While I'm sure the aesthetic of Warmachine and the DF Leviathan will have informed the release of this, don't try and assert that, in this case at least, GW didn't get there first.

PP is the target not Dreamforge IMHO...PP has been releasing giant models throughout their range...this is GW responding to the changing marketplace...Riptide, Wraithknight and now the Cygnar...er...I mean imperial Knight. Glad they are doing this, but Dreamforge is chump change compared to PP and their threat to GW market share.

Meh, If I am wrong I will be happy to revise my estimate... nothing would be sweeter than to be wrong, but in this instance I do not think I am that far off. I have an 8.5" kit in front of me so unless that is a complexly new base (and it may be) and the photo shopped thier SM at the wrong scale, I am confident this is much closer to my estimate than 8" but I look forward to my formal apology to you if I am mistaken.

Easy slice? Doesn't look that way to me. Looks like there's a good 1cm of plastic between the knee and the upper leg and another 1cm join between the knee and the lower leg, in an arc no less so cutting it cleanly will be hard.

If you want to put a bend in the knee I think it's going to take a decent cut, a bit of cleaning up, then some greenstuff filling to hide it.

I feel like preordering one and complaining if it's not 8", and if it is 8", I can be happy that it's actually 8", lol.

The legs are two part and you can cut from the inside. That should keep all the hacking out of sight. Depending on how thick the part is you might not even need to fill anything out.

They ripped off a Knight and a Warlord Titan. Compare the giant shoulder cannons.

Even if it was the other way around, It would have been deservedly so, given that what I just saw when I typed into google was an awful abomination of a model.

I didn't notice before, but they have made a whole new "Imperial Knights" entry under the "Armies" section on their website... so maybe the rumours of a Codex are true. It'll be a pretty crazy army if you can just rock up to any old game or tournament for that matter with an army of Knights.

Yes, GW metal knights were for their epic scale games, so smallish minis.

Now I have seen the PP colossals, and see that they may also have shocked GW but those models are not that new anymore, and Leviathans came out this past year, GW is seeing the BIG plastic mechas market leaving them behind.

Yeah, can't say I've ever liked the Warmachine aesthetic. That might be why I've never gotten in to the game, the models just don't appeal to me in the slightest.

Is it though? It is far more likely that GW just wanted an excuse to create models that are more original that they could put a bigger price tag on.

For once it seems GW have really hit the nail on the head, creating a model that many vets/GW "haters" like and should also appeal to the new kids.

I'm mostly interested to see what this does to the game. It seems like the Knights are not going to be "Lord of War" and rather an army in their own right, which to me says GW have realised escalation and apocalypse don't have mainstream acceptance and they are trying to force acceptance by making a mainstream army that revolves around a superheavy.

Or that GW is slowly adding more larger models like the Baneblade and Stompa, and to maximize sales are allowing them in normal games. GW (via Forgeworld) has been doing titans for a while now.

I think adding big models to standard games is GWs attempt to compete with other games. It's leveraging something they can do that few of the other game companies can do.

The method of building anticipation for a release is not working well; I was ready to go buy one of these no matter what the price if i could pick it up on the 22nd... it seems a bit dumb for GW to advertise something big coming on the 22/2/14 when its actually coming on the 1/3/14... being able to pay them a week early for a product doesnt count as a release in my books. All it actually does is net GW a weeks extra interest on the money.

...am I the only one not interested in pre ordering anything whatsoever from GW? I mean I'd go pick one up right away, and Id order one online to be shipped that day, but I wont pay them now for a kit that exists in warehouses, but wont be dispatched for a week.
Genuinely do not understand what it achieves for them... theyre not so small a company that they need prior funding to make it happen; its already been designed, manufactured, distributed etc.
Further more have they ever actually had an item unavailable because pre orders were sop popular on release day? e.g when Dark Vengeance came out, I walked to town on whatever Saturday it was, and bought a ltd edition box for cash on the spot. Thus there was no point in pre ordering at all? I didnt pre-order, yet still got the ltd edition on day of release. Same with their ltd edition codexes; quick rush to get one before theyre all g.... oh wait theyre still here weeks and weeks later
