Love the model but I'm a bit confused on if you can use them in a standard 40k, or how you make an army out of them.

Not going to get one/more until they make this more clear.

I know - I don't get the extra packaging for 3 or 5 models with no discount. I mean, is GW worried that their customers are too lazy to add 5 to a cart rather than click the 'Iron Brotherhood'? Or maybe they're worried someone is too stupid to figure out the internets and how add more than 1 to their cart.

There's no "extra packaging" most likely.

You're just buying 3 or 5 models and you'll get them shipped like that.

So it really is a matter of them thinking that we're just too dumb to just add 3 or 5 to the cart.

Erm ... War of the Worlds was written by H.G. Wells.
But you are half right: Verne's novel "The Steam House" (1880) features a mech walker in the form of a steam powered metal elephant.

Where? I didn't see measurements and I came up w/ ~6.25-6.5 based on their pics.

Edit: Bastards, they updated their description LOL

"At 8 inches tall the Imperial Knight is a towering war engine. Crafted in the Dark Age of Technology..."

Damn, she's going to be a big model then. Still, their pic came out to be well under the 7 mark, so now I'm really interested to see one built.

*sigh*

Yes, we are aware of what the GW site says. However, comparison pictures within WD and on GW's site seem to undermine the 8" statement on the product page.

GW site saying that the Knight is 8" tall, is like GW saying that they do the best looking models, with the utmost quality on the market, and then you look at the Mutilators and the Centurions...

Do you get now? NEVER BELIEVE WHAT A GW SITE SAYS, its a rule in life...

While I don't think it quite hits 8", the photoshopped pictures of it measuring out to 6.5 inches totally fail to account for the fact that the Knight and the Marine are not at all even on the z-axis.

It is a nicely imposing model, even at 7.whatever inches tall.

Picked up WD today, had to walk down to GW and WHSmiths didn't have it. They had two unopened copies of the first "Visions" though.

Friendly GW staff in the Glasgow branch, seemed really busy too.

It would have been good if the rules for using these as an army were a little clearer. In saying that I'd imagine that take between 3 - 6 Knights as a Primary is fairly self explanatory. How do you pick a Warlord though? Has anybody figured that out?

Hopefully GW have an actual publication or rules clarification thought of. It'd be nice if the had a basic Knight army selection, perhaps borrowing some units from IG and renaming them. They could probably get that out in WD weekly relatively soon.

I quite like the concept of WD weekly as it means you can kind of pick and choose between what content you want. I don't imagine I'd ever buy all four, except perhaps under the most extraordinary circumstances

Look, everybody says 8 inches.

It is actually 6 inches.

They say 8 because it seems impressive, but we all know it's 6.

Just be happy it's not 4 inches.

It's not so much that, it's more the 24 hour delay that seems to be occurring in your time zone. A quick scan of the pages that I guess you had missed would have seen that your comment had already been made and discussed in some detail.

Darksphere put it at £63.75 plus p&p

And the P&P is an extra tenner, so it doesn't end up being a deal compared to other retailers.

Just wanted to drag this up as if the other retailer is Total Wargamer, which I think it might be, you could be waiting a very long time. Obviously the Darksphere P&P kills it a little but they are good for large orders and they are very fast shipping wise.

They're describing how JJ is describing something?

Saw that and it made me chuckle.

I have never heard audio of Jervis Johnson, but that description makes me think of Barry White singing a love song to the Knight model. Maybe I'll put some Barry White on while I unbox this model--you know, while I am playing with my bits and such.

I have met Jarvis Johnson a couple of times, At the first couple of warhammer 40K tournaments in nottingham And trust me on this I have never met anyone who reminded me more of Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson character) in all my days, He does not have a voice you'd happily sit and listen to for hours without laughing in his face.
