IG against a Tau list, I know he is taking two Riptides, probably with Skyfire and FNP, and will also probably take suits and Pathfinders. We both get a "free" Wall of Martyrs, because it's a themed battle/scenario, but there is little to no cover in no man's land. This is what I could be taking in order to claim a win!

HQ
Company Command Squad with Lord Castellan Creed, Astropath, Master of Ordnance, 3x Plasma Guns and Regimental Standard = 260
Lord Commissar with bolt pistol and CCW = 70

Troops
Infantry Platoon A
Infantry Squad with Flamer and Chimera = 110
Infantry Squad with Flamer and Chimera = 110
Platoon Command Squad with Captain Al'Rahem, Heavy Flamer, 3x Meltaguns and Chimera = 205

Infantry Platoon B
Infantry Squad with Autocannon = 60
Infantry Squad with Autocannon = 60
Infantry Squad with Autocannon = 60
Platoon Command Squad with lascannon and 2x plasma guns = 80

Fast Attack
Vendetta = 130
Vendetta = 130
Vendetta = 130

Heavy Support
Leman Russ Executioner with plasma cannons and lascannon = 245
Manticore Rocket Launcher = 160
Manticore Rocket Launcher = 160

The LR and Platoon A outflank together with Creed and AlRahem's rules. The Manticores kill infantry while the Vendettas kill tanks and Riptides. Platoon B and Creed hide in the preset Wall of Martyrs camping objectives. Any help on this or is this solid?

Drop 1 vendetta, 1 manticore and get 2 demolishers that you can infiltrate with Creed. Don't think u'll need 3 vendettas vs tau, really..
Drop 3 missile launchers and get Lord comissar - u'll need him to get at least some reliable scoring. Ld 8 ain't gona be great to pass almost every turn.

I can use Creed to buff the Infantry Squads so they don't run, and I can using "Incoming!" to give them a 2+ cover. I will prioritise the Markerlight destruction to get the most out of it.
I could drop the Executioner and a Vendetta for the two Demolishers, but I don't want to drop any more Manticores. Also, that would leave me low on the AP2 front, only getting a maximum 2 wounds on a Riptide.

I'd plain ignore riptides untill u're done with everything else. It's a MC with 5 wounds, 2+ armor, probably fnp, 5++ and ability to get 3++.

I would keep the vendettas for definite, 9 TL lascanons is awesome. I play tau and I have played guard a few times and won because my opponent didn't know what to kill first ie marker lights. lascanons will put the hurt on riptides.

I would drop the missile team 95 points for 3 BS3 missile launchers not worth it.

I am noticing your Command Squad has 7 units in it?

Lord Castellan Creed
An Astropath
A Master of Ordnance
3 Plasma Guns
Then a Regiment standard

My understanding from reading the rules your command squad is build up for 5 unit max (please correct me if I'm wrong as I am likely to be).

Wrong, Astropath and Master of Ordnance are extras you can add to it.

Dropped missile team, now what to add?

Any thing to add in 95 points? Also, I've heard about LR Vanquishers and their Beast Hunter Shells. Are these any good at killing Riptides? If so, where can I get the rules for these?

I agree completely with taking a Lord Commissar. Drop the missiles (as you have done) and blob the platoon B into one big one with the Lord Commissar in the middle of it for a funny 30 man squad that laughs at pinning/leadership tests. Could even GTG with them if needed and get some better saves!

Lord Commissar added, now I have 30 points to spare. What now? Should I give the Commissar a power weapon? And should I just hang this squad back in the trenches?

Would dropping the Master of Ordnance for another Infantry Squad with autocannon in Platoon B be a good idea?

Could you edit the above list so we can see where your at with the list?

It seems like a pretty solid list against tau.

Beast hunter shells for a vanquisher are found in the imperial armor books for forge world.

Updated, what should I do with the 30 points I have left? I could drop the MoO and get another autocannon Infantry Squad for Platoon B? Also, where are the most recent rules for Vanquisher beast-hunter shells? Would they be effective against Tau?

Free up 5 points and get a scout sentinel with a multi laser, and outflank with it. It'll be really annoying for them, and will force them to either allocate firepower to it, or have it plink away at their light armor from the rear or side.

7500pts. 1750pts. 1500pts. 2000pts. 11000pts.

I'm not sure that there's just 5 points I could free up.
Again, any criticism on removing the Master of Ordnance for another autocannon Infantry Squad, or should I keep him?
