Never played myself, but saw one in a game once:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space-Marine-Tanks/SPARTAN_ASSAULT_TANK.html
It is also available for Chaos Space Marines.
Basically it is a Land Raider with 25 transport capacity, one hull point more than a common LR, 4 twin-linked lascannons and ceramite plating (meltaguns only roll one d6!). It costs slightly less than 100 points more than a common Chaos LR.

Relic predators can take exterminator plasma cannons (3 shot plascannon), firestorm cannons, and conversion beamers.
Chaos contemptors are points-pricey, but have a tonne of wargear options, and are generally badass AV13 walkers that are good at both shooting or CC.
Giant chaos spawn are 80pt T6 W4 monsterous creatures.

Unfortunately it only has Ceramite Plating if you're playing loyalists. :( Ones for Chaos are slightly cheaper is all, which is "clearly" how they balance it against taking it as loyalists. Bleh.
Still, Assault Tanks are bananas. The firepower upgrade alone over a regular land raider covers the difference in cost, and the fact you can still jam an entire maxed out squad of just about anything in there, and TWO chaos lords in terminator armor AND still have room to spare is pretty great.

Yep it's sad that they put so little thought into Chaos options.
Spartan Assault Tanks are amazing though, I just wish I could afford the models.
The Tzeentch Daemon Lord is also pretty unbeatable. He is unkillable without D weapons. An'ggrath is about as durable but he can realistically only kill a unit a turn and he can get bogged down with only 7 attacks.

I'm looking at running Khorne daemons (hounds, thirster or herald/karanak) alongside a Nob Biker list. Would that giant spawn fit in with that? (ie, is it fast and useful?) Are its rules online free like some of the others, and if not, what book can I find it in?
Cheers for any advice!

The Chaos Spartan can still purchase Armoured Ceramite, actually. The Spartan, Relic Predator, and Contemptor are all in IAApocalypse 2013 but they run with CSM, not Daemons; you've also got the Decimator (a comically durable 13/12/11 choppy Walker with Daemon and Deep Strike that's murder on garrisoned buildings/transports) and Khorne Blood Slaughterers (squadronable and relatively cheap choppy 13/12/10 Daemon Walkers).

I have a good amount of fun with the plague hulk. The blast is a bit weaker, and you lose the harvester in place of an ap3 flamer (go go overwatch?) but it is cheaper than a standard nurgle grinder.
I have used blight drones from time to time, never game breaking, but always fun to have buzzing around the field.

The Giant Spawn is only available to CSM as an elite, daemons get the much worse, much more expensive, Spined Chaos Beast. The spawn isn't fast or super tough at T6 4W 4+ sv with 2d6 attacks but its only 80 points. Its like a discount carnifex.
Daemons can get access to Decimators, for deepstriking melee/flamey goodness, and Blood Slaughterers, which are super cheap AV13 walkers (can be taken in squads of 3, no less), while good are sort of hard to control as they just auto-pilot go after whatever's closest.
Most recent rules for all these are in IA: Apocalypse (2013)

I don't own it by myself, but a guy at my FLGS that owns Imperial Armour 2 (and a quick research on the internet) confirmed me that in the last version of the book also CSM can take the Ceramite Plating.
And honestly, with that upgrade it's the best Tank in the game (excluding Super Heavies).
Just try and stop it

I really want to try a couple of giant spawn in my rush list. They just look like a bunch of fun. Automatically Appended Next Post: Contemptors with dual butcher cannons sound fantastic as do relic predator with Exterminator plasma cannons. How are these priced?

Contemptors hit the high end of 250pts, so definitly more of a luxury unit, but plasma-preds are a steal at 115.

Yep those plasma preds seem pretty amazing. That's about half the cost of three obliterators.

Again, problem with vagueness: Are we talking CSM or Daemons here? Daemons don't have access to most of the vehicles.

I think a lot of people that have daemons have csm and a lot of people who play csm have daemons.
So either or. So far it seems like people like the preds/ plasma preds and the assault tank.
The daemons don't have much forgeworld stuff youre right.

Well this is good news! I was going off the former experimental rules and have been trying to track down Imperial Armor 2 Second Edition. Don't know anyone who knows it and it's like $90 bucks after shipping to get it to the states so it's out of my price range currently.

I just checked the Experimental rules and see nothing about Chaos being able to take... Is that updated in one of the IA books? If true, oh my... Bye bye Vindicator.

It's in the newest version of Imperial Armor Apocalypse. Aseptic on released a chart with all of their approves forgeworld units as well as what armies can take them and what boos they are found in. Pretty nice resource.
