Hi guys!

Here I show you a model (finally )

This is Coil Projector from the elite FranklIn Experimental Brigade, a unit fielding (and testing!) the most advance (and weird) weaponry ever seen in the XIX century!

This is a WIP model yet. We're working to improve it some minor flaws we detected while casting it. Sool will show you finished one.

That's certainly a nice-looking paint job.

How many greens will you have when you launch the KS project? Do you have a lot of the sculpting and mastering done, or will you have to do that during/after the KS campaign?

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

AlexHolker: "The power loader is a forklift. The public doesn't complain about a forklift not having frontal armour protecting the crew compartment because the only enemy it is designed to face is the OHSA violation."

AlexHolker: "Allow me to put it this way: Paramount is Skynet, reboots are termination attempts, and your childhood is John Connor."

Thanks!

Right now we have 50% of our 4 initial starter sets mastered. Obviously we will have to do more sculpting and mastering during and after the campaign, the most suceess the more models we'll have to.

This game appears to be more historically focused than any of what you mentioned. It has a certain weird wars feeling though. To me, it comes off as a pretty unique set of elements. I designed and ran a 19th century Wild West fantasy game for a long time, am a devout fan of deadlands, and am a us historian. ACW is a unique mixture, a mixture of the sort I am always on the lookout for.

You've got good military history, a little industrial steam punk, some mystic horror, geopolitics, and a mix of gritty aesthetics and panache.

Well that would make sense then. Europeans seem to love the American Civil War.

Haha, True that. Our painters are Winterland Studios and MayArt. You'll see more coming next days. I personally love ACW, that's why we're making a game in that era instead a random scifi/fantasy game.

Well, now I know that I am officially nerdy enough to spot the nationality of a miniature paint job...

I'm looking forward to the Kickstarter. You are launching on Saturday, yes? Are there going to be early bird pledges, or can I not worry about putting in my pledge as soon as the project goes live?

Haha, that's a impressive achievement, lol.
Yes, Kickstarter will start on Saturday but we chamged our date from March 22nd to March 29thl See below.
Regarding Early Bird pledges, I must say there're Early Bird pledges (one for every 1-2-4-8 starter sets pledge)

Check: http://ghosttraingames.com/important-announcement/

"After much thought we have decided to move the date of our Kickstarter a little bit, to March 29th. We think that will be a date more positive for our backers,as it fits better with a month-starts-month-ends formula.
We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused.
Stay tuned, we will be unveiled a lot of stuff in this two weeks countdown."

Regards

Ah, perfect! That really helps a lot. I am running a big day long miniatures game this Saturday and I was concerned that I would not have the opportunity to get my pledge in.

So, you may have answered this question before, but I'd like to know what your thoughts are on rank and file troops. There are plenty of ACW models on the market as well as miniatures of other nationalities in the same period. Will you be doing all your own troops? If so, what do you think will distinguish your sculpts from the rest of the market, and how will your miniatures in general compare to other products on the market.

For example, let's say a customer has a bunch of ACW models for historical wargaming. Will someone like that be able to pick up Alternate Civil War by getting models for your unique units and folding them into an existing collection of American Civil War miniatures? I'm just curious. For the most part I don't collect historical miniatures, but I'd like to get a sense for how you envision Alternate Civil War positioning itself in a market already flush with a great number of historical miniatures.

That's a really interesting question. It's surely a lot of great companies on the market producing awesome historical miniatures. We will producing our own rank and file troops, of course. As we're launching a skirmish game, our signature will be the attention to the detail to the individual miniature. Dinamism, textures, personalized faces, details... that kind of things that ussually distinguish skirmish games from full battle.
Also, our intention is generating unique models for unique regiments, such as the 1st Rhode Island or the Stonewall Brigade (this will depend on the success of the KS campaign), albeit here we won't be 100% historical for design reasons (models should be distingishable even unpainted) and will go for fancyness over accuracy sometimes.
Surely someone could use our miniatures and blend them in their regiments and viceversa. We're confident enough that our quality and design, as we have showed you with Jackson or Sherman, will entice you all. Personally, only problem I'd see in that is scale, as our models will be generally more bulky than the majority of the plastic models in the market, even at the same 28mm scale.

Edit: Monday we will show you our North and South rank and file models.

Cool. Thanks for the response. When you say skirmish, what do you mean in terms of game size, model wise? 5-10, 10-20, 20-30?

About 6-18. Game is fast, only 1 die roll to resolve all tests. Hit and Damage rolled together (different color dice).

Well, an American Civil War era skirmish level game is very interesting. I confess that I hadn't realized the game is a skirmish game (I've had some difficulty downloading the rulebook).

I agree that it provides an opportunity to go with more detailed, characterful models, especially as they won't need to be ranked together tightly. Well, I am very much looking forward to the Kickstarter and seeing the new models you are planning to release. Thus far I am very excited about the aesthetic choices you have made, and the fluff is done well.

Good luck, and thanks for answering questions!

With one day delay what we promised - file & rank troops.
They won't be simply fillers in ACW: 1861 but an integral part of any balanced force. Albeit they might be interchangeable (uniforms aren't that different unpainted), these have been especially sculpted to be federal or confederate.

Whoopsies! Yeah, he's Brigadier General William Sherman.

You can download the rules here: http://ghosttraingames.com/the-game/the-rules/.

In this game difficulty is set by your opponent not by rules. Some rough facts: One die per roll. High roll always good. Modifiers are always simple additions or substractions.

Bests.
