Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly certain the resins were for the KS only.

And done. That took some effort.
My Guild Ball Mason's team.

Over all they are really nice.
Honour is a lovely model with an especially nice face. A few of the details are a bit undefined. She starts with two separate belts on one side but they mould into one blob by the time it gets around the back.
Honour has delicacy and movement, also lovely. I couldn't work out where the hell her scabbard went so I left it off.
Marbles is well detailed, but one side of his face suffers from the teeth not being well defined.
Mallet has personality, is a good sculpt and is all around nice.
Flint is a good model, but aside from his breast plate there's nothing to make him stand out. A bit boring.
There's nothing particularly bad about Brick. Nothing particularly good either. Have a look at the big guys for the other teams, they're all distinct. Brick's unique selling point seems to be that he doesn't wear shoes.
Tower is by far my favourite. Nice personality and features, not overly complicated. All round good.

On average, they are a lovely bunch, really fun to paint. A couple of them lack a little in personality but I'm happy with them.

Now, on to the Union.

(I put a better picture up, linked from photobucket. The Dakka gallery kept screwing with the image)

Nice work, Henry! Is a team 6 models + mascot, or does the mascot count as one of the 6 you can field?

In a full size game it's 1 captain, 1 mascot, 4 others. The captain determines which team you're playing with, so you pick your mascot and other 4 from the team list or union players. Other than that there's no limits, so the Mortician team for example can have all 4 of the other players as big guys. Or you could have a captain and mascot from a normal team and 4 union players.

I think most teams have 6 faction models plus the mascot available, so if you don't go for the Union players you are looking at dropping one.

It's actually fairly balanced, in that you can drop one and your play style changes a little, it's not just cosmetic. But it won't change the theme of the team too much, so if you've picked a fast, goalscoring faction that can't hit hard, such as fishermen, then you don't have an alternate that turns you into a heavy hitter.

And the company have hinted they might go down the WM/H route of introducing a character at various stages of their story arc, so I might get the equivalent of eShark in the second season book.

Really hope this game gets the play it deserves!

Did anyone notice that Hemlocke works for the Hunters Guild!

Hunter's guild?!?!

Season two, i smell you!

Yeah, they've already said that Hunters Guild will be a season 2 team. More coming in the next week or so apparantly.

I just hope this doesn't suffer from Dreadball syndrome and unbalance the game. Otherwise it'll be the same situation of having to make sure everyone is playing the latest season teams..

I remain optimistic however!

I second that question... I found some answers on things by googling, and think maybe it's just from their official forum?

Thanks for the kind words RiTides.
For info I got to the Guild Ball Facebook page, the kickstarter page or the Guild Ball forum. That's where I learned of season 2 and the hunters guild.

Did they mention if Season 2 is a Kickstarter or normal release?

Someone on Facebook said they were going to avoid a kickstarter to get the game growing organically and get the product more into the hands of shops.

More power to them if that is the case.

Hopefully I can get some games in soon.

A little season 2 taster:
That looks like another big guy to the right of Tower. This one's got shoes!

Sooo... this link is stolen directly from the GuildBall forums. Head over there to see new artwork for the Butchers, Masons, Fishermen and Morticians.
http://dougtelford.wix.com/doug-telford#!guild-ball/c1sh8

On an unrelated and very selfish note, here's a WIP for my Union team.

I have a problem deciding how I'm going to finish her. After I fix that god awful mistake I've made with the purple on the edge of the cloak, I've got to do the trim of the cloak, the clasp of the cloak (it runs around the back of her neck), the feathers and the mask. My muse has deserted me and I can't figure out what colours to use. Any ideas?
(by the way, the detailing on the sword hilts is gorgeous)

@cincydooley, I'd love to mate. I've only had a quick look at Vassle and I'm not the most computer literate person. I've also only ever played one game - and that was a demo game at Salute. So, basically I'm saying, as soon as I'm not being stupid and I work out how it all works, hell yeah I'm up for a game.

Thanks for that link, Henry - as a Butchers player I'm really excited by that art! And the purple on the Union model looks great

The Union of the Snake - Guild Ball Union's Guild team.

Ok, they took quite a bit longer to do, but I'm done. But first permit me to explain a few things, because I'm not too happy with how the team turned out.
Apart from the captain and mascot, the players of the Union guild can play for other teams. When painting Union players then, I had two choices. Either paint them up as a normal team, or paint them up as individuals. I chose to paint them as a team. I regret not painting them as unique figures.

Painted as a team they look coherent on the table. But, the players each have their own personality and a colour scheme that works for one, doesn't work for another. I almost got away with this apart from one BIG exception.

Anyway.....

Blackheart turned out really well. He's got a cool Warhammer 5th edition dark elf vibe going and is the reason for the colour scheme. At first I wasn't too keen on the sculpt, it's a bit meh, but he's now one of my favourites.
Decimate is cool. Lovely figure, nice details. (Did I mention how nice the sword hilts are?)
Snakeskin is a good figure that I tried as hard as a could to paint very badly. She's the only human to not have a foot peg, which makes her the only model that needs pinning.
Minx is a nice sculpt but you need to know some stuff. She's only available in resin and she's not available in the guildball store. I got her from Salute. Also, as a resin mini, she's very fragile. With a game as vigorous as guildball, I'm just waiting for her axe and dagger to snap off.

Coin is ..... the worst mini by a long mile. It's a lump of metal. It's really bad. In fact it's so bad that I recommend that - unless you particularly like Blackheart and Coin and you want to use Avarice and Greed in a Union's Guild team - don't buy the Union starter set. Have a look at other companies and buy yourself a menacing dark elf and a serpent with some character from someone else.

Now Avarice and Greed. This duo count as one character. It comes in four parts. Avarice on foot, Greed on foot, Avarice's chest plate and Greed strapped to the chest plate. It also comes with three rare earth magnets so that during a game Greed can hop on and off of Avarice. I've only put them together a few times, but already I've broken Greed's arm by pulling him off (it's hanging on by the pin I put in there, so it's not noticeable unless you look for it). The chest plate doesn't fit well without putting some serious effort into filing the hole big enough and finally, once it is all together, the magnets are very strong, making the chest plate that doesn't have Greed on it a bugger to get off.

Also they are the two models that suffered the most from the colour scheme I chose. It really doesn't suit them and I made a massive cock up by trying to force them to work.

Once again, they are a lovely bunch of miniatures and I'm glad I chose bold colours for them

Blackheart came out exceptionally nice! You've taken a really varied group of models and made them look like a team, well done

I got in my first game yesterday and really enjoyed it! Now if Element Games would just ship the second half of my gaming store's group order, we'd be set (only half of my butchers came in with the first shipment).

I suppose I should get some stuff painted and post it

Just impulsed bought the Masons Guild starter and now trying to make sense of the rules...

Can you have scenery on the board? One of the pics shows a player dashing round a wooded barn or some such.

EDIT - Ok, this game is dangerous to your wallet. It looks cheap to begin with...

"I only need a £20 team to play? Sure, I'll give that a crack."

...and then you want more players, more teams, tokens, mats, limited edition captains, gah!

Ok, for the time being I've just stumped up for the limited edition Shark figure as it's a better pose than the one in the starter team IMHO.

And yes, in case you've missed the limited edition captains from the kick starter are now on general sale along with resins while stocks last!

Just entered my first Guild Ball tournament

Capital Slam at Dark Sphere on the 22nd August. Decided to go with Brewers as there was only 1 other guy using that Guild.

No Butchers yet (guessing your Guild Ball connoisseur prefers a more subtle approach), but quite a few Alchemist teams.

In the meantime, my Masons have arrived and I'm remembering how much fun it is putting together metal miniatures with spindly parts!

I'd be worried facing Butchers - they are brutal

I guess the trick with Butchers is to plan it so the take downs take place at the beginning of the activation phase, so any models that leave the pitch don't have a chance to influence play (or score goals!)

My friend's strategy versus my Butchers:

Anti-butcher tactics: Draw an 8" circle around Boar and never, ever go into it.

(it's actually really good advice, too!)

Most teams can run circles around the Butchers, but Boar will just decimate most models for only 1 influence, leaving the rest of the team's influence to either finish the job of killing or do other things....
