For an Imperial knight.
Reason I'm not making this a poll is because I'm interested in opinion, so, is what is pretty much £100 for this new shiny model a fair price?
Due to request iv added a poll.

To also add in consideration these seem to be not solo like say a riptide but can operate in forces of 5.

I think the price is subjective. It's worth what you're willing to pay for it. If you like it, and want it, get it. I have no use for it as I play SM, but I got centurions, even though they are 78 bucks for only 3 models.

I feel the kit is worth it. I can get it for $137.00 CAD, which is 74 GBP. Considering the size of the kit, the weapons, and the amount of detail, and most importantly the amount of time I'll sink into it, makes it well worth the cost. Can't wait to paint this bitch.

If it's a very powerful unit, it fits in your army and the model is fun to build, it could be worth it.
Obviously you could spend £85 on substitute models from Gundam or something. You can get three Gundams for the cost of one Knight, if you don't need to have the official model.
IDK if you can have three Knights in an army.

I feel there should be a poll here, i know the op has decided against it but still....
anyway, I think it is too much at £85, but only just, at the prices most online discounters give you it comes in more around the £70 mark after shipping, this i think is a really good price.

Mhm and a poll has appeared.
I am also curious about what people think about the difference in price of a Riptide since they are similarly sized models, and well, knights are a optional squadron unit so say you wanted to field a squadron of 6.

isn't it like a 400 point model?
Tactical marines are 65 in Aus. they make a 155~180 point model.
That gives us an average point to dollar Ratio of 2.5~3.
If a single knight costs me 130, and I'm getting 400 points out of it, then I'm still getting a 3 point to dollar ratio.
It's better than something like a land raider, which costs me 110 and I'll only get a 2 point to dollar ratio, or a thunderfire cannon where my point-to-dollar ratio is exactly 1.09.
So no, I don't think it's too much.

91 for the riptide and 110ish for the wraithknight. Why do you specify bigger wraithknight?

From the pics I'm figuring that the wraithknight is a fair size taller than the knight (or at least taller), I am one of those retro thinkers who believe that the price of the model should be somewhat based on the price of the raw materials, so, if the knight is smaller than the wraith knight (or more accurately lighter) to my mind it should cost less. (However i do realize that this is not how GW price their figures, i think theirs involves a board covered in numbers, and a chicken with its head cut off)
(by the way, what unit of currency is that, and if not gbp, how much is the imp knight in your chosen currency).

No.
It looks like a decent model but it's only 3 frames of sprue going by the website. It is barely bigger than a riptide but they want to charge more than Dreamforge do for a model that is nearly as big as a warhound, entirely poseable instead of just at the waist and arms, and comes in a huge box packed full of bits*.
*I like me a complex kit to put together, some people might like a less complex kit for ease of assembly though so I'll concede this point is entirely subjective. The fact that it comes on more sprues means it cost more to make though and that should be pointed out.

Imperial Knight his 8" according to the website. My 2 Wraith Knights come in at 8.5" not including their base. The Imperial Knight is much bulkier so it's closer to a Stompa in size which is also about 8.5" tall.

I actually feel this is their first super giant plastic kit released this edition where the price is reasonable for what you're getting. The Wraightknight is a tad too expensive IMHO for what you're getting. Baneblades are way too expensive for the amount of detail in the model (you can get WW2 scale model tanks with more detail roughly the same size for like half the price of a baneblade). I haven't actually seen a Khorne Lord of Skulls in person to see how big they are but it's kind of goofy looking in the first place. The tesseract Vault, okay maybe that one too because the interior detail of it is pretty insane.

As plastic kits go, it's a lot of money. That people don't see this shows how inured they have become to GW prices. I'm sure if it was much cheaper they would fly off the shelves in droves, far far more than at £85 and overall make a lot more money. But GW doesn't do things like that, they seem happy to sell fewer things at a premium. It's that Ferrari style prestige they think they products should have.

I think it's a bit overpriced in comparison to the rest of the miniatures market, but in comparison to other GW kits it's actual fairly reasonable. It's even the same price in Australia as the rest of the world, which is amazing.

If a similar model like the Riptide is £50 then comparing the two, is the Riptide too cheap or the knight too expensive (£85)?

Overpriced as is usual for GW, but not extremely so. I'd have preferred same price as a Riptide, but then again it's not like I play to buy one. If I had money to burn I might have gotten one just for display as it looks cool, but $140 USD is a bit much.

£85 is basically the price point I expected give or take a few quid, so I wouldn't say it's too much compared with other SHWs.

It's been said a million times but there are Tamiya models and robot models with more detail, higher complexity and just all around better looking for half the price.
Here's a good knight... $40 and comes pre-painted (a bonus for me since I don't like painting so much) 7" tall.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |
