Rules aside at the moment....

I was curious how YOU will field YOUR new IK. What weapons? will you choose a house or make a freelancer? What army is it aligning with? What is your tactical plan? What armies will it face most?

I plan on this to go with my DKOK army. I have 1600 pts (according to the 5th ed. codex), and they are painted in an autumn ww2 german camo, with helghast orange glowy eyes. The tanks are in a spring '44 mustard & green "giraffe" pattern. However, since IKs are independent, mine will be a freelancer. I plan to paint this black with gold trim. It will be on a "muddy" base, the legs dynamically reposed, stomping & crushing a trench with barbed wire, and brown mud up to the knees, no groin banner, and it will have a bone & flame motif on it (like legion of the damned), and I will use skull face. I plan to magnetize both arms at the shoulder ball joint (in case future weapons become available), and on the right, magnetize behind the shield of the two weapons...I also plan to extend the chainsword with plasticard....

also, after seeing the new WD, I think it is possible to have the back open up, and have a pilot inside.....pretty big conversion idea, but one I am considering...

What is your plan?

I'm creating my own house for my knights, and deciding wether to paint it a red color or to make mine green to match my army colors.

It's going to be allied to my WS "ravenwing" and help draw fire from the biker units.

Like you, I was torn on making my colors match my tanks, or do something else. But this bad boy needs to stand out! I think red would be so nice amongst the green...

I plan on ogling my knight from afar and never actually buying it.

So I picked "other".

Were I to ever buy one, though, it would be the mother of all conversion jobs, trust you me. It would definitely be in a "heisman" position or something.

My intent is to magnetize the arms so I can give it either weapon. I'll base it to fit in with my Valhallans, and I'll be looking up medieval Russian heraldry to make it fit with them and their Red Army theme. I guess that'll make it a Freelancer Knight, but I'd like to get something somewhere between a traditional Knight scheme and something more personal.

I'll be painting up three as Mechanicus Knights (2x Paladins and an Errant) to run with my Mechanicus themed Guard.

I'll be painting up an Errant as a Freeblade allied to the Ecclesiarchy to run with my Sisters.

I'll be painting up a generic Errant and Paladin to ally with my other armies when I fancy (GK/DA/ABG/IG).

I've pre-ordered the first two from my local GW but will be ordering the other 4 from an online retailer which works out nearly getting one for free with the discount.

Whether I can legally use it or not is immaterial. No matter what, I shall convert it FOR THE GLORY OF CHAOS.

I'm going to pick up a Forgefeind kit along with the Knight so I'll have ample bits, and I'm thinking of making that top hatch a movable piece, and adding a grotesque daemonic heart inside the pilots compartment. I'll also probably replace that chai blade with either a large daemon blade, or a fleshy claw, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Off topic: CAN Chaos use it? I saw nothing in the White Dwarf actually saying WHICH armies can take it, only that it can be an ally. Perhaps I missed something?

First off Freelance. I want to paint it my own way and make the colors clash with the Ig and Space Marine armies I will use it with. Second, I may repose it if I dont like how it stands, its up in the air for me right now. Next I might try to find a way to make the top removable and put a titan crew in there. I have to see how it goes together first. Then i'm going to work with the weapons, I am not a huge fan of the CC weapon.

No you have not missed anything. The model has been released for pre-order, stats are published in WD. Full rules for playing the model can probably be expected in the next couple of weeks. I think with the WD now being a weekly magazine we can expect to see new model/unit info rolled out over the period of a month or so, to give them more content for each issue. I don't know it, but I would assume that at least a digital codex will be released soon.

Just realized, with that ik head that looks fett like, I might paint my ik as boba fett! Green helmet with red trim, green body armor, yellow shoulders, red sword and shield(s), yellow knees, and a silver bluish under carriage (think grey knights color)....

In the fluff for my IG they were the men at arms and lesser nobles of a knightworld, so I'll have them sporting slight variations of the heraldry my IG already bear. I also plan to find a way to magnetize the RFBC an TC to be able to switch between the two.
The biggest challenge will be getting the poses i want, I'm gonna have to mess with the legs as I want my knights to look like they are charging forward firing while rearing back the chain blade getting ready to bring the pain. kinda like this

I have thought this through, and I do believe I will do the Boba Fett colors! I think Citadel Base: Waaagh! Flesh (green) is the best for helmet and most carapace, Citadel Base: Averland Sunset (yellow) is good match for shoulders & knees, Citadel Base: Khorne Red is good for chainsword and shields and red trim, Citadel Base: Kantor Blue on the back (like fetts backpack), silver (for battle damage), and the exact markings and battle damage he has on the IK!
