Subject: My 1st project: 201st Regiment of Sekhmet
|

Hello to all!
I start this tread to showcase my WIP and done projects, I will not make that many posts as I only get models as gifts. I had always loved the WH40k universe and I am a storyteller in many of its RPGs but this Christmas I got my very first own model that I made into one of my own IG army.
About the "201st Regiment of Sekhmet", they came from the sector capital planet of my own sector, Stakara. The planet Sekhmet is a shrine world, but as you look at it from space you can see that its covered with one giant city, so its more like a hive world. My army is from the 1st born of the citizens and its main enemy is chaos rebels. I used the rules found in the Only War RPG book to create them, if anybody wants more details I can write it down here.
The 1st that I really wanted to make is a Valkyrie, but I didnt want it to be alone, so I asked my wife to buy me one squad of stormtroopers too. And so she did, and I got a starter kit, so I can build it together and to paint it, I was quite lucky, because my colors where in that set, I only had to get Abaddon Black and Nuln Oil to have it all. The colors that I used where Abaddon Black as the main color, Averland Sunset for the secondary colors, and armor colors, Mephiston Red for the misc details and undercoats for the soldiers, Mournfang Brown for the troops pouches and holsters and such. As I didn't have any gray or flesh colors I used White Scar as the humans flesh base, and as some highlights. I used Nuln Oil to shade and to make the colors way darker and more worn out. I used Leadbelcher on all the metalic parts. The images where made with a " HP photosmart 945". And so the pics:

So, I had a Rhino that I got from Ebay, but I didnt like the colors, and it had some minor problems. I made a Picture of the original, and repainted it. I used the same color pattern as I used on the Valkyrie. I only made one picture of the new look, but if anybody wants to see it in more detail I will make more.

Hello guys,
I got a Leman Russ as a present for Easter, but I have some questions about it... I will make a Punisher with 3 boltguns, but should I make it open or closed? I mean should the tank commander be seen? And about the back, where should I place the exhausts, I want it to look a little badass...
And I wish to know, what can I do with my stormtroopers, now that I do not see them anywhere on GW, are they deleted from the WH40k universe?
Ohh and one more thing, I have a Valkyrie, a Stormtrooper squad, a Rhino transport, and now a Leman Russ tank, how much is needed till I can call my guys an Army?

stormtroopers are now called Militarum Tempestus Scions. all youneed is a lord commissar and a second squad of men or to split your current one.

I see, But the Scions look nothing like the specialists that I love, they have some strange armor... I like the regular Stormtroopers, I cant get any of them anywhere? :(
So it must be 2 squads, a leader, and I can add to that any number of extra units and armor?

ebay is your best bet for more stormtroopers. as for putting a force together your better just getting a Militarus Tempestus codex. not sure what armour they get.

It's meant to mimic the 40k gothic/baroque style. If you want Stormtroopers go on e-bay, and by the way, don't get the Tempestus Scions codex.. It's very limiting.

Just use the scions profile in the IG codex, easiest way. Or you could use them as vets in carapace armour?

I think I will get 2 squads of the Cadian Shock Troops. And I dont know yet about the codexes, but as much as I know now, I must say that the earlier version is better then the new.
Ohh and a few questions more:
Can I use "Steel Legion Squads" as a custom armies main force? Can I mix the models of them all?
And another thing, I want to make a Plasma Tiger Tank, so a Tiger tank from WW2 with a Plasma turret left from my Leman Russ, any tips on how I should mount the gun, and can I use that hibrid custom model anywhere in a game?
And If someone would say some tips and advices for my earlier works, I would thank you for it.

Steel Legion Squads are simply Imperial Guardsmen/Veterans, they are not a special unit. If, by mixing models, you mean kitbashing Steel Legion with anything else, that would be a no. They're one-piece metal models, so you'd need very good knife skills...
Depends on the scaling of the Tiger Tank.. Is it Warhammer 40k scale? If not then that would be a no again, I wouldn't know how to mount the gun because I'm unsure of the dimensions of the model, but yes you could use the model as a Leman Russ Executioner. It's AV13/12/11 with what is basically a 3-shot plasma cannon for a main gun. ( IIRC)

Cool, Then I will use Steel Legion troops, then they look better for my Regiment.
The Tiger is 1:35, as I seen here its the right size, and I will need to do a good job with the mounting. It will be my 1st conversion.
Soon is my Bday, so I will wish for some troops and the Tank.

Look at Forge World Elysians, they'd suit your regiment quite well.

As I used my Regiment in RPG, I made them an Infantry / Anti Infantry army, so I will try to stick with that concept, but I also had in mind that I have some Elite Squads (Stormtroopers) with them.
I looked at them, They look good, but I dont like how the helmet looks on them, but I really like there buggy

The buggy is quite cool but you'd have to use their army book in order to take it, unless your FLGS lets you pick and choose.
If you don't like the helmets then change them with the ones that have rebreathers, they look a lot better, or swap them for whatever guard head you want

This is my own Stakara Sector, that I made for my RPG games as a storyteller. I upload it here to, so you guys can use it if you wish to.
This sector is near the Tau borders, it has all the races that are in wh40k, so its a battle royal.
On the top are the Tau and Orks, on the right side are the Heretics and Deamons, the Eldars are everywhere, but nowhere, the Tyranids come from the right to, there are some dead worlds in the midle that the Necrons rule, and the rest is IG, Sisters, and SM... All factions have there own name, and some background too, but I will only share more if you guys are interested.

So, now that I have time...
The 4 main forces here from the Imperium are the "Gray Bloods" ( SM), the Order of the Sacred Martyr (Sororitas), 201th Regiment of Sekhmet ( IG), and the Forces of the Machine Cult (mostly the knights).
The sector was established in the dark age of tech, but was lost in the 31th millennium. It was mostly ruled but anarchy and chaos until the 1st explorator fleets arrive here in the 35th millennium. The Machine Cult goes and asks the help of the Imperial Fists and get the permission to make the Gray Bloods chapter, to aid an ongoing crusade, the Talius Crusade thats coming in the direction of the sector. The Gray Bloods join up with the crusade, and go from sector to sector till they are somewhat stopped at Stakara Sector. They can liberate most of the planets, but a minor warp storm, the Traitors Reach, and its surrounding is way to fortified. Here the Leader of the crusade, Lord General Lana is killed, and after many battles they reach the mastermind behind the strong defenses, a demon prince who has served Tzeentch. The Gray Bloods sacrificed more then 90% of there forces and the chapter master to delay the prince, so it can be destroyed with an exterminatus on the planet Xactan. After this the Chapter took the planets from Singularity and made a fortress out of it, they protect the sector from the chaos even now (in 40k). They have a strong bound with the MC, and don't use any psykers. (the original version is a bit longer, but thats only in Hungarian and half ready)
While the Gray Bloods did there thing, the IG sacrificed many millions to make a foothold on many planets, and to establish a government in the sector. The Main planet was Galmora, that was renamed after a saint Sekhmet, who started as an IG soldier, then rise up to the position of Sector Lord. She was the commander of the 201th regiment till the promotion, so it became the most iconic army in this sector, as it caries the name of the Saint, and is always the 1st borne of the planet Sekhmet, that has min 100+ billion people on it, a Shrine/Hive planet, that has all its surface covered with buildings and layers of living space. The Regiment is mainly anti infantry, has the flamer as special weapons, and likes mobility over protection. (detto, again, in Hungarian only)
With the rise of the Imperial Creed, an order was made, to honor the saint of the Stakara Sector, and so the Order of the Sacred Martyr was made, it took over the governing of the sector, and is a specialized attack and very last defense force of the sector and the Creed. (had not been used in the RPG that much so doesnt have to deep background)
And last but not least, the Machine Cults worlds, that are in the Mantis Sub-sector, it was the 1st foothold that the arriving fleets of the crusade had, earlier conquered by the Explorator Fleets, and to this day it is a territory of the Cult, and as such, it reigns over itself, only listening to the main body of the Imperium. (again, not to deep background )
And of the enemies:
Warriors of Lien: Eldars that live in this Sector and are very hostile to the other races, they are almost extinct. They use there soul stones and war machines to battle the forces of Chaos and Necrons.
Singers of Eniter: Eldars who live in the sector too, but see that they dont have any chance to stop the Necrons, the Tyranids and the forces of Chaos alone, so they are willing to ally with Rouge Traders and the Imperium time to time.
Tan'Maru: A new Colony of the Tau, who expanded in this sector not to long ago, but are in the way of the Tyranid fleets. They took some of the Sub-sector Drakonis, and live with humans worlds, who joined the Tau.
Bone Crushers: Pirate like Orks, who raid the Idris Sub-sector, and are almost unposible to halt for a long time, luckily they fight each other more then the Imperium.
Canibals of the Righteous: The remains of a Chaos Chapter, now full with newly made mutant SM, human cultists, and the warp horrors of the storm.
Necrons Live in the Juno Worlds, and the Tyranids will come from the Tau Region. ( The Enemies where not so important for the players, so I have not written any detailed background for them, but I have some stuff in mind, but will not write it down )

Hey dude, I'm guessing English isn't your first language, and that's fine because your English is a lot better than my German, but I just wanted to point out to you that in English we say "201st Regiment" as in "Two Hundred and First Regiment." Hope I don't sound like a dick.
Your painting is really cool dude, I love that Valkyrie, and I love when people have actually developed stories behind their models. I do something similar, and I'd love to have a game with you if you're ever in Ireland.

Ohh, well actualy I'm from Hungary, so even my German ist the best
But thx for the info, I even known that it should be like that, but I forgot XD (shame on me)
The real storry behind it is, that I played my 1st WH40k game on the PC, then I played it as a RPG with some friends for years, and now that I have too much time (no job ), I asked my wife for some models for Christmas. I always was a bit odd, I dont like the standard versions of stuffs, so as I was the GameMaster in the RPG (for years) I made my own Sector, with my own planets, and lores, and it was natural for me to make my models in the colors and style of my sector too. Because I have time, and have a bit of a creativity, I made my Sector bigger with every game, and every story that I told, so I made maps, and made my players go vs all kinds of stuffs. We played a lot of different type of games, some where pure fight, some where diplomatic missions with the Eldar and Tau as RT crew.
Btw, the map is made from many many layers, with some stock images from Hubble, and some images cut out from the original RPG maps (the border and some icons), and the rest is my fantasy
Ohh and thx for the kind words, I had lost a bit of hope when nobody voted on my pics.
