So, I am a Cygnar/LoE person, most of the time, but i've been wanting to try out some cryx. So the opportunity came, and I decided to grab a used lot of Cryx minis, which are:
Cryx Starter Box
eSkarre
Seether
10 Satixys Raiders with Sea Witch
Warwitch Siren
Skarlock
Pistol Wraith
5 Bile Thralls
Wintershadow Combine
I am wondering if I can make some decent playable lists with these?
Also, I Iintend to eventually get some bane thrall as well, when the plastics are out, as well as eGhaspy and Terminus. Anything else I absolutely need? Except more Bane Thralls?

What you can do is send it to me next day FedEx!
Joking aside, you can do some good things with that set up. Skarre+raiders means feedback hell by attacking jacks (though I forget if it's p or e that does that). Pistol Wraith is a staple. WSC is another. pDenny is a very strong caster. It's really just up to you to put it together, you have all the pieces you need to start.

As Surtur said, nice solid start. You'll be able to make several decent lists from that lot. Both Skarres have feedback so thats covered. The Seethers are my go to 'jacks and you have all the Arc nodes you'll ever need. Skarlock works well with either of your casters too so he's an auto include.
Actually second thoughts... nah that lots rubbish, just post them to me instead, it'll be much cheaper than going FedEx to Surtur!

You sure it's 5 Biles and not 6? You're missing one if so.

Haha, wow, I guess it was a good deal then. I am a little lost with it, since both Cygnar and LoE deal with surpise lightning strikes and precision firepower, none of that feedback stuff. But I'll figure it out. I understand that most Cryx casters like running only one Jack. Which one should I run with Ghaspy and Skarre? Seether?
Would that work with Ghaspy?
It is looking like I wont be using much from the starter box, other than the caster and lights?

DrDuckman wrote: I understand that most Cryx casters like running only one Jack. That's a little untrue. They only like running a single heavy, but most of them want 1-2 lights for the Arc Nodes, so they really tend to run 2-3 Jacks.

It's a good start really.
That said, I do recommend just playing some battlebox games and small 15pt games to start with, just to learn the rules and how the game works. If you jump straight to 35 or 50 point games, the number of special rules and interactions can be a little mind boggling to play at first, but starting from small games helps you ease into it.

It looks like someone was building a pDenny list. Most of that stuff are things that tend to be popular with her. I'd probably look to add a unit of banes of your favorite flavor.
PS The plastic bane thralls are out. So far I really like them, but I haven't gotten them all together yet.

That is useful to know Mordekiem. I was thinking it was meant to work with eSkarre, and I was in a complete loss with her, she is so unlike my Cygnar casters.
Right, Bane Thralls everywhere. I assume Bane Thralls are a better buy than Bane Knights, due to versatility, so I'll go with that.

One more thing I forgot earlier, if you want to run Denny, you want to look at Nightmare. He'll give your opponents... nightmares!
It's basically that same slayer you got with the battlebox with reach, stealth and prey. It's 10 points, but well worth it for Denny. Also I should mention the combined attack shenanigans that satyxis pull off. You can combine attack with the horns from one onto the lacerator from another, giving them a little more damage with which to pierce jacks to proc feedback. Nasty.

Not sure why people are focusing so much on feedback shenanigans. Yes it is nice, but I really think it is a secondary ability with raiders.
Their primary ability is usually to jam up the enemy forcing them to fight on their side of the field early. With their great speed and high DEF they are a real nuisance to a lot of armies.

I would suggest looking at the PP Cryx tatica because it can be very helpful with the synergy and each individual unit.

OMG yes.
What you got was a pretty decent line-up. It'll keep you interested and amused for quite awhile.
Now the meat and potatoes...
1. Cryx is the "backstabber" of the factions. Nerf their stuff, and kill it. Look at the parts of your Cryx army as precision instruments with which to surgically remove particular pieces of the game.
Example!
pDenny uses "Parasite" on a model ( ARM nerf), now charge said model with Bane thralls (add'l ARM nerf, "Dark Shroud"), apply applicable damage, now charge said model with Seether. Place wreck marker. Next...
2. Cryx doesn't like to get hit. "Glass Cannon" syndrome really. You'll learn how far is overextending yourself, and you'll adjust accordingly. The slayer jack is a heavy warjack, that has approx. the same ARM as most other faction light jacks. And if your arcnodes get hit, just break out the wreck markers ahead of time lol.
3. Of all the factions that can do hordes, it's Cryx. So... many... banez.... Or the unending recycling of a Mechanithrall unit while a Necrosurgeon is standing to the side. Hehehe... Which kind of tends to another point. It seems (to me anyway) that the majority of our 'casters like to hoard focus. Why? Because they prefer to use it themselves via spells and spell-slinging than give it away. I always play pDenny as an arcnode spell assassin myself...
Hopefully I didn't just blather at you and you knew most/all of this. And, good luck
