Subject: Best source of Synapse for frontline?

I'm currently looking to expand my synapse creatures, because all I have right now for a 1850 list is a Flyrant, a Tervigon, and 3 Zoanthropes. I feel like one more source of synapse is needed for the frontline, i.e keeps the little guys in check. I'm tempted to go for another flyrant, but the Tyrgon Prime looks like it would be a pretty good buy, with decent dakka, 6W T6, good shooting and the tunnel thingy, and it would add variety. Plus I could try to bring it in where my opponent had shot up my existing synapse, if the backline was struggling.
Given warriors don't seem that beefy, I've discounted them. Zoans and the Tervigon have my backline covered, especially with a venom or two thrown in for that 2+ cover.
So - Tyrgon prime, or Flyrant? And why?

Flyrant - cheaper, more manoeuvrable and more durable than a Trygon Prime, as well as being a Mastery Level 2 psyker and having anti-air capabilities. Having a second flyrant also means all your mobile support isn't tied up in one unit, and you can afford to sacrifice it if necessary and preserve your Warlord.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Raven has said pretty much as what i would say.
A 2nd flyrant is pretty much the best option here since it beats a trygon in every way.
Keep in mind also that when the trygon pops up, its going to be near the enemy, so usually in range of plasma/melta which will shred it (since MC's are the only viable target in the army for anti-tank weapons)
The flyrant can keep out of the way and atleast being a FMC keeps it going even longer.

I hate to agree because I love Big Wormey, but at 1850, a second Flyrant is the smart play.....but I think you'll be just fine with Big Wormey espesially if you Outflank etc.....

In contrast, I'll say a unit of Warriors. For the same cost as a Flyrant, you can get 18+ wounds of Warriors, spreading a WIDE synapse that'll keep your army flowing.
Warriors are awesomesauce.

Warriors are passable backfield Synapse units (and by passable I mean they are a terrible unit and don't do much, but at least they score without a babysitter and can maybe take pot shots with a Venom Cannon) but they definitely aren't a unit you want getting up close. Inside of 24" you open yourself up to a huge amount of firepower, and inside 12" you just melt to small arms. Unless they are doing something really crazy 2 taking 2 Flyrants is basically mandatory for Nids, they are one of the few unquestionably good units in the book and in many games I have seen are basically what is trying to carry the entire army (the Troops hide and try and grab objectives, the Flyrants actually kill stuff). 2 Flyrants should cover basically all your front line Synapse needs, a Tervigon covers the second wave with anything slower and then 3 Warriors hiding at the back can keep your Biovores etc from doing anything silly.

Mhmm, seconded, I'm liking Warriors as backfield objective campers. Outflanking them with Hive Commander and a butt-load of Deathspitters can be potentially painful too, although they're far too fragile.

Warriors might be worthwhile if you desperately need troops and don't have enough points for the tervigon/termagant combination (for instance, if you're running the soon to be de rigueur Skyblight.
But you'd be mad to field warriors if you could run a Flyrant. Two of them are far scarier than one - and, as pointed out before, you can play the second one more aggressively without worrying about Slay The Warlord.
