I'm making a color coded Space marine "testing dummy" figure, and want to know what spots are weakest, what strongest, what in the middle.
Already got shoulder and knee pads on "strongest"

Neck, arm pits, back of knee joints, and elbow region are weak points. Strong points are the rest. However, depends on what they face as some items/weapons/creatures make armor about as useful as tissue paper.

Uhm, common sense? anything that is not fully armored is a weak point.

Figured as much. Gonna chalk up the head as a Weak spot as well, because that makes sence. The other suggested bits will be "Crit spots", seeing as they have no armor what so ever. Maybe eyes as a crit spot too.

On the SM models, wherever there's "ribbing" (inside elbows, throat/neck, upper legs where they meet the crotch armour, back of legs) for example is a potential weak spot.

The heads aren't so vulnerable. They had to make room for all that "for the emprah" indoctrination, so a large chunk of brain is removed. [this bit is SARCASM]

Those "studs" in the heads of certain models? Bullets that failed to penetrate the almost total bone of their heads.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Um... I'm not a doctor or anything, but they should probably have that fixed. Like, a bullet in your skull is still a major disadvantage.

He is joking. The studs are shallow and set there as a badge to denote long service.

Notably, the 'soft armour' is not that soft, and while it is more vulnerable to high-penetration weapons such as boltguns, surface damage weapons like lasguns certainly do not ignore the 'soft armour'.

Greaves would be strong, but I'm not sure the actual knees would be.

Chest would be strong as well - you've got the extra plate that the abdomen lacks.

I'm mostly using it with ork melee weapons to get a general idea of how much blood would splatter for when I paint.

The face grille on non Mk-6 is a weak point you can attack for massive damage. (the one on Mk-4 is a lot better than most of the others though).

Behind the knees seems like the biggest vulnerable point.

Shoulder pads are a very strong point, as is the Chest plate.

Joints (Elbows, knees and so on) are the weakest spots, plus IIRC there's a tendency for one mark of armour to deflect enemy fire up into the neck joint, which is another weak point.

And eye lenses, I'd imagine, while being tough, are probably weaker than the helmet itself.

From what I know, their neck-joint is a critical weakness. Any projectiles hitting the upper chest plates has a chance to bounce into the little gap between the helmet and collar-bone plating. (unless its the newest Mk VIII armor which specifically addresses this problem by having those space bullet bibs)

I am sure I read in the fluff years back the eye of the helmet is a major weak point.
