Yes, this.

Can't be arsed with 40K anymore. There's too much to wrap your head around.

Agree with this as well. But Flash, I'm guessing you were raised, like me, on a diet of British war films and commando comics! Those new storm troopers are a thing of beauty! GW deserve credit for those models.

That being said, that transport thingy looks a mess.

Yeah, liking the Storm Troopers (said so earlier), but with the game as it stands, I won't be buying them. 6th Edition has saved me a fortune

They had lightning bolts on their shoulder badges. I was going to show you a pic of mine, but apparently I was too lazy to paint them in...

It again amazes me how GW can screw up a vehicle design that badly. -SIGH-
After the splendid Knights the heavy transport is really really disappointing.

Almost as bad as the small SM flyer or the Centurions. Kiddy stuff. :((
If they continue to release hit and miss models like this I doubt that GW will flourish financial again in any time soon.

Ehm,Isn't that vehicle more suited to the Orks? It seems to tick all the boxes on an Ork vehicle checklist.

Don't forget the hell turkey. If I've learned anything from posting in the chaos marine rumors thread, it's that chaos players HATE being left out of stuff that loyalist marines get. They got a stupid looking model as well.

Sure.

Like all vehicles ever.

That Ork checklist doesn't really have a lot of boxes.

I thought that the Ork release was not until July. I really like the new battle wagon model. Nice to break up the vehicle types. needs more dakka and maybe some tusks. This with the new mega armor centurion nobz models and I am a happy ork boss!!

Just forgot what I was going to say.

Im starting to think that there will be another box of just regular Militarum Tempestus, as Scion means famous/noble. Also based on the APC vehicle im thinking there will be some sort of police/swat team esq feel to either the Tempestus or somewhere in the IG book perhaps the alt version of the ogryn will give some hint

Wow, just after the Knights, GW manages to drop my jaw AGAIN. Only this time, I'm completely horrified. WTF is this thing?

Obviously, the idea has been to take an armoured car, and make it 'scifi' by adding dual track units. Which obviously makes no sense: half-tracks have front wheels to make it faster and a bit more nimble than a fully tracked vehicle on roads. Heavier vehicles have full tracks, to be able to cross terrain under heavy loads. This manages to combine the worst of each system Seems like the front tracks are a bit smaller than rear tracks, BTW. I wonder if the rear is open topped..

Other things I love is the bullet catcher hood grille, designed to direct each shell down into the engine. Then there's the dual track covers, nice big portholes to catch shells that miss the engine cover, a door on the side that's a HUGE weak spot.. Oh yeah, and they forgot to give a tracked vehicle a suspension, AGAIN. And, it has almost the same name than the FW Tauros.

On a positive note, maybe you can find a WW2 halftrack or an armored car, that's both cheaper AND looks better. Finally some 'wheeled' vehicles for IG!

For example, a Sd. Kfz. 222:

What, no plasma/melta/flamer with that kit yet again?

May have to do with the fact that GW officially claims to own the copyright on the word "grenade launcher"

Oh, and everybody happy that we finally have a Plastik alternative to the CRASSUS ARMORED ASSAULT TRANSPORT?

At this point, I wish they had given IG a proper armoured car, intended as a fast, light combat unit, heavier than a Tauros and lighter than a Hellhound. Basically, similar to Sentinels in role, but faster and wheeled.

Instead, we get something that's half-APC-half-armoured-car, which just makes no sense.

Ugh, that vehicle looks awful, it was designed by 3 people as well! How can all three people be that wrong.

The Militarum Tempestus box builds both "Scions"(which are implied to be the standard choice) and a "Command Squad".
The implication as well is that the Command Squad might only be an option for the Tempestus "army book", while the Scions are the standard unit and make up the Troops choice there.

It's also worth noting that "scion" doesn't necessarily mean famous/noble. It's used to refer to sons and daughters, which would fit the older background of Stormtroopers being the orphaned children of Imperial servants.

Ask any company or military that uses "design by committee", you'll usually find a project that tries to meet every need and ends up meeting none of them.

Also, "descendants". It implies a noble lineage but not necessarily so. Also, going by old stormtrooper fluff, they were the orphaned sons of IG veterans taken into custody by the schola progenium, my belief is that the name "scions" was chosen to reflect this.

And Kan beat me to it

It was just a thought. I find it weird that the Command Squad isnt a Militarum Tempestus _Scion_ Command squad, but they probably ran out os space on the box or their pig-latin consultant had a stroke in the middle of the project.

I was thinking about this Stormtrooper codex and there may be a big problem with those that want to field a full stormtrooper army.

As we know GW is throwing around the term "Codex" in very liberal terms. This new ST codex may just be the command squad, the troop squad and the APC. That means you can only field a HQ and Troops ala Inq codex. That means no Leman russ, sentinels, or anything thing else from the IG codex. Just the command squad the troops and maybe the APC.

That means we are going to have to ally with IG to get all the other toys back but that means the IG codex better have an option for ST troops or we loose the whole ST army vibe now.

For my Arbites I use Sentinels, Exterminators, Hellhounds, Priests and Orgryn. Will I be able to use all of those options without allying? Probably not.

This would have been way better as a supplement. Use everything from the IG codex but with some force Organization changes such as making ST troops. Throw in a new Warlord table and some fancy new relics and we are off to the races.

I ave a feeling this ST codex is going to screw me over and not be all that we first thought a ful ST army would be.

It also might explain why they would release it before the main IG codex. There is only 3 units in the book. The same 3 units that just came out alongside it. No need for the proper IG codex to field.

I'm guessing that the Stormtrooper Codex is meant to allow interfaction alliances, so you can add stormtroopers to IG (or any other imperial army).

It's also possible that the Command Squad is not commanded by a "Scion", but rather someone who was brought into the Schola Progenium based upon their merit or something of that nature and groomed to be an officer.

Nah, there'd be a couple more units than that.

For one thing, there's no chance in heck they won't be giving them valkyries.

They might even spring for 'Stormtrooper Special Weapon Squads' and, depending on available legs for them, 'Stormtrooper Heavy Weapon Squads'

Special Weapon Squads probably, depending on how many are in the boxed set I think.

I'm thinking it more likely that we might get "orbital bombardments" or "artillery barrages" as the heavy support for the Tempestus list though. It fits a bit in my mind.

That new vehicle's design surely took a lot of talent. Even if I tried my hardest, I wouldn't be able to craft something so hideously ugly.
