As it states above or are they married to only the grey knight. I really like the look of these and would want at some point to add it to my BA army

Yup, Dreadknights and Grey Knights are in a monogomous relationship. Not like that cheating stormraven

GK only. If you really want to use them, then there could be some way of using GK as counts-as BA allies. For example, combine the Sanguinary Guard and GK kits to make a 'honour guard' squad' that is actually a GK strike squad rules-wise, opening up the DK.

You can paint your models however the hell you want. If you love Dreadknights, use the rules for an allied GK detachment and have a dang "blood angel" dreadknight. As long as the units are legal, I really doubt anyone will care if it's painted up differently.

You sure I won't get cained by the hardcore GW for bending their rules to suite my requests?

What you mean about bending rules?
He said you can have an allied GK detachment and have a dreadknight with them... There are no rules for painting.

Yeah but is this not bending the rules having an allied detachment?

Yeah, the only requirement is that you take an HQ and Troops choice, which could mean some badass Grey Knight Terminators with a super tough character, or a cheap inquisitor with some cheaper henchmen.

Hmmmm I guess it's possible then. I guess my chip is that they won't be true blood angels dread knights and just a detachment add-on. That apparently bothers me as I don't like sharing :-(

Rules wise it wouldn't be the same, but couldn't you proxy or convert the model into something like a contemptor dreadnought? Might not FIX the rules portion but removing the baby carrier might make for a neat conversion. I know there's a "terminator dread knight" in the dakka gallery somewhere. Might be worth a look.

I will check it out but I had my heart set on having one of these things as a BA member of my army. I guess I will settle for one of them expensive titans which came out recently. Point wise I'm sure they will suck up a load

The rules really aren't your problem, your problem is the fluff. The BA don't field Dreadknights, they're a GK-only unit. In your homebrew, you can use the ally rules to bring in what are, by game-mechanics, GK units, but you can paint them up as BA and call them Blood Angels all day long. It's only an "ally" by the terms of game mechanics, and what is required to bring them... but if you paint them all up as BA, then you can make the GK units into some new kind of BA unit, or use an Inquisitor and s/he's just Inquisitor AccessUnlocker that lets you field a "Blood Angel" DK.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
