In my long journey of making my armies, I'm collecting bits and pieces that I'm planning on using for creating my count-as Ahriman while obviously having the model have the same equipment that Ahriman does in the Codex. I'm still a little ways away from finishing since I have been gathering mostly IG stuff as of late, but anyways!

Are there any models you kit-bashed or modified to represent a special character for any reason? Such as maybe you didn't like how the model looked or you wanted to have your army to stand out a bit more instead of saying "So *insert special character* decided to kick back with us today even though (s)he should really be with their original force." For me personally, I wanted to represent my Sorcerer fluff-wise as being a powerful psyker rather then say "So yeah, Ahriman is fighting with some IW even though he should be finding the BL. But whatever, it's cool."

Vulkan He'stan, Farsight, Duke Sliscus and the Sanguinor. Vulkan is a custom job because I dislike the GW model. Farsight is ridiculously expensive for basically no difference, so I just modified a Crisis Suit. The Duke doesn't HAVE a standard model, so you have to make your own. And my counts-as Blood Angels have a draconic theme, so I wanted a custom Sanguinor to match.

I have a counts-as Cassius. Not a fan of the official model. My old chaplain is an old one with half a bionic skull, so fits right in. All I needed to do was magnetize a backpack and weapon swap, and cobble together a combi flamer.

So now I can field him as Cassius on foot, or a jump chaplain with a bolt pistol.

I made a custom Tigurius. Assault Marine legs for the running pose, some kind of banner I found in my bits box, veteran torso and power pack, a cyborg-mouth/Revreather head thing that I think is space wolves, a Bolt Pistol held to the side in his left hand, and a Terminator's Force Staff for a right arm. How do you post pics? He looks far more badass than the stock model.

I got my hand on cheap resin scottsman models . Now I have 60 scotts dudes as guardsman ,a mix of SAS and Uxias are vets, with the melta ones being armed with chainguns .

Am also using SW ally in my army and I replaced my 20 GH with grey rifles. HMG ones are plasma , rifles are those with bolters . The only models that are GW in my army are my 2 vendettas , chimeras , my Russ and the SW rune priest as I didn't want to buy 10 models to use one as him .

The only pic I've got of one right now is this WIP dude, who is my Belial/SETH Chapter Master.

Never finished him, there are some glaring issues, sure, mostly its because I got sickened to death of playing Marines.

I quite like doing counts as models for fun, particularly:

My Cypher model uses mostly generic Marine parts, but with a GK head, a greenstuff modified cloak from the Termie Chaos Lord kit, and arms I used surgery on from kits I don't know, given they were just in my bitz box. He's painted up as an Inquisitor.

Every second Sergeant in my IG Platoons carries a platoon standard, using CCW/Las Pistol gear. The rules for PCS standards suck and I dislike the idea of multiple men of the same rank leading the same blob, just seems stupid to me, so I represent varying ranks.

I have a Tigirius counts as using various parts from the GK Strike Squad kit to build a staff, hood and get the head.

I had a custom made Parasite of Mortrex, using a Ravener body and Daemon Prince Wings. However, once the new codex dropped, I pulled the wings off and re-purposed it as a regualr Ravener.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

A while back, when it was still easy for Inquisitor Special Characters to be included in a SoB army, I got really ambitious, and decided I wanted to do a 'counts-as' Inquisitor Lord Karamazov, as an Inquisitor Lady Karamozon. It sat around as a WIP for years but I finally finished it for a conversion competition in late 2012.

Of course, since then it has sat around waiting to be painted for more than a year, but there you go :p.

Lady Inquisitor Chernil (Coteaz). I dislike the total lack of female miniatures in the 40k line, and really didn't want to pay so much for a finecast model.

Oh, I hear you. I converted my IG detachment's officer to a female character, (almost totally) scratch-built an on-foot female inquisitor (for when I'm not using Karamazov), and 8 new female crusader models. That was a few years back, hmm, maybe I should revisit them, I've improved alot as a sculptor since then.

Wazdakka conversion WIP. Need to sculpt some pants on him and he'd be ready for paint. Currently working on the regular biker boss, but since he really isn't a counts as he doesn't count for this thread.

Spoiler:

And some converted officers and NCO's for my IG. They've got like 3 layers of paint on them where I kept changing my mind on a paint scheme right now, I really need to finish them.
