I will apologize now for Beiber but we only have so many means at our disposal to torture the USA. It is particularly painful since I live close to his home town of Stratford (ack!).
Piers is enough of a turkey that I could not honestly justify inflicting him on anyone except maybe the French, they may like his brand of humor send him to:

That channel is not a news channel, it is a celebrity news anchor channel paying more attention to promoting their news anchors to larger than life status than actually broadcasting the news.
AMANPOUR this, ZAKARIA that, QUEST there, MORGAN here...it's all about their shows.
CNN is all glam, nothing else. Oh and a great place to watch travel ads.
Heck, the whole channel basically boils down to 5 minutes news, 5 minutes break, followed by 5 minute interview part 1, 5 minute break, 5 minutes interview part 2, 5 minute break, 5 minute interview part 3, 5 minute break, and then the weather.
The Channel is even so arrogant as to advertise the awards it has earned boldly...to me, it looks like someone is struggling to keep their image.

Lots of people are trying to make some kind of comment about US culture from Piers Morgan having bad ratings and getting fired. But they seem to be missing the fact that Piers Morgan doesn't really work out anywhere because he's a boorish, unpleasant jerk who doesn't really have anyt interesting insights.
None of those things are fatal in and of themselves. You can hold unpopular opinions and even put them forcefully, but if you're smart people will respect that and you might find an audience. And talkshows are full of people with nothing interesting to say, but who say it in a pleasant manner. But combine all of them and well, there's nothing remarkable or uniquely American about Morgan's failure.
