well, i need some advice, folks. i always just painted searchlights simply yellow, but now i am at the point where i want to improve from that child level of dealing with them

so, i am talking about the regular small IG and SM ones, as well as some of these:

aim is to keep it simple, as i am no pro painter
most helpful will probably be some basic paint suggestions.

Quick and easy way:

Paint the whole front of the light (glass and metal rungs) yellow.
Wash with an orange.
Highlight the light again, leaving orange just around the outer circle.
Highlight the center of it all white.
Edge highlight the very edges of the metal framework where the light cant hit it.

Or, paint it all metal with the lens black and say the lights off.

Depends on what sort of searchlight you're painting - white light, infra-red, green light etc.
