so typically, I manage 6 models in base contact:
- 6x St3 attacks
- a massive 2 wounds on T4
- Assuming saves of 4+ at least one dead opponent...

this is huge!!! or possibly not.

If it doesn't have a cost, it could be quite nice.

Nobs get those HoW hits on S4. 5 - 8 S4 HoW hits aren't too bad for a free addition. Adding in their gobs of regular attacks and it is quite nice really!

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I'm heading by my FLGS tomorrow, they usually get their shipment in early, if I get a copy - I'll be sure to post up some pics again!

it appears meks have a bigger role this time around.

And since I've got one of pretty much every configuration, it puts a smile on my face =)

So wait, whats happening to bikes? I literally just finished my 40 biker horde. I'm going to be fething pissed if they can't be troops

Assuming they no longer can, which we don't know for sure..

You can still run them unbound.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

If they remove Waz and bikers aren't a default troop (ie like Eldar jetbikes) then we may be able to use that FW biker character still to make them troops anyway.

But if not, I'm done. I shouldn't have to play unbound just to play my bikers.

Really though unbound is not the mother of all evil, nothing bad happens when you play unbound, you just lose a reroll on the negligible warlord trait, and you can't shake other troops off objectives.

For the privilege to play the list i like i don't really mind.

Rightfully ignored too, because it's not a knight. Not even close..

I don't care about the warlord trait nor about objective secured.

If bikers aren't available as troops for Codex: Orks, I'm just not interested. Biker horde is orky as hell, if we can't run it properly, then the guys who write the codex lose their credibility to do so in my eyes.

Especially considering the reason would be "herp derp third party models"

Knights move a LOT faster than the 'nauts. They can reliably pick a target and go after them, whereas 'nauts can be ignored for a long time, and you can run away from them if you have any concerns.

Indeed. The nauts will have to walk across the table 6" per turn, and if they run they can't shoot. This means anything that doesn't want to be in melee with them can just move away; not that the nauts are any good in close combat, they simply cost too much for their relative CC ability.

A basic squad of tactical marines with a melta bomb sargent can kill the morkanaut as often as not.

'Nauts I think might have been designed to go hunting for buildings. Those can't run from them.

They were designed to be really cool looking models for use in a game that was never meant to be taken all that seriously. Guys this is an ork thread... If you can't play the game for fun playing as orks you should not be playing orks at all!

Stikk bommas are special among ork society for one reason - They know when you pull the pin out of a stikk bomb you throw the bomb not the pin!

Wow second time in this thread we get a quote like that You do realize that fun comes in different types? Some people actually like to spend 105$ on a model that won't be a total disappointment in game.. That's also fun. You dont need to be super competitive, but relatively useful is nice.

I think youre allowed to want to play orks for fun and for competitive reasons. To many players warhammer is the most fun when both players are engaging in a competitive and closely fought battle, so I completely disagree.

I think people are mostly disappointed because GW missed out on the opportunity to make an awesome model both fun and competitive. Although its still not terrible it is a bit over priced and slow for the killing its going to do.

I always press dat, if you know what I mean.

Exalted! There are many armies to play, but only Orks have the unique community that it does. This is partly because we have been mostly ignored since 4th, for the most part only people that like playing Orks for fun have stuck with them. Yes it is okay for people to play for competiveness, but Orks have been the easiest way to get away from it for those that don't love it.

What in the world...? Yes, only Orks have unique communities, huh? Never mind that EACH chapter of space marines basically has it's own unique forum somewhere on the internet, as does pretty much every other army. Orks have been competitive at certain points as has every army, the meta changes.. Sorry, that statement is just so bizarre.

Are you advocating that orks should be *Bad* to facilitate some odd notion of "keeping the army fun" or that only die hard ork players keep playing them? I would point you to the still vocal minority of sisters and templar players!

Sorry to upset you, I didn't say or mean that Orks are the only ones that have a unique community, I said that they are the only ones with their particular type of community, but I suppose I said it in a redundant way. No I don't think Orks should be "Bad", and I honestly don't think there are any armies that are so bad they never have a chance, but I definitely don't want them to be great either, and yes, I would rather not have to see people take Orks because they want to win. We have been in a place where Ork players have been chill and fun to play with, and yes, I would rather not have that ruined by overcompetitiveness and anger.

But again, this is just one man's idea of what he thinks makes the game fun.

I personally think that orks arent meant to be WAAC competitive taudar basilisk spam demon summoners 'i win button'

They're the silly army, the comic relief. They're good and can win, but none of the above should be applied to orks imo.

Edit: People were talking about Ork novels, but i cant find anything for them in the Black Library...

I'll agree that for us fun comes in many flavors.

For an ork, though, there is only one flavor - a good duffing.

Giving or taking. It doesn't matter.

And, for an ork thread, this seems to have far more mathematicians, over analysis and outright reservation and reluctance than any ork clan would ever allow.

Crunch Knuckle: "Dah right arm is a gatling gun made out of gatling guns. Dah leff one is Mork-or-maybe-Gork's Klaw. Dah Klaw is as thick and 'eavy as a kan, and you an' dah nobs can burst outta itz belly and start krumpin' 'eads. And its all yours, boss!"

KneeJerk dah Doubta: "I 'ad me odd boyz run dah numbas, and dey jus' aren't impressive. I filnk dere's jus' no room in my clan for a towering, lumbering embodimunt ov me god dat 'as dakka bolted all ova erry inch ov its outside and spillz me and a 'alf dozen boyz all ova dah enemy like a pinata party in a space marine's nightmare.

Nope. Got no room for one or two ov dose in dis clan.

[Clears throat]By the way, may I take this opportunity to I dispell another deplorable myth? I roundly reject the notion that orks are universally poor speakers."

Crunch Knuckle: "I toll you ya'd katch sumthin' from dem humies ifya went krumpin wivvout your gas mask. You've got dah worst case of ova-analytis I've eva seen. Groggle, fetch dah painboy and tell 'im to bring 'is brain saw. 'E'll fix dah boss rite proppa."

The orks you are going to field will spontaneously slap a few sheets of metal, engine and wheels together and immediately stake their lives on it without doubt or hesitation. It would be good for all of us to remember that beautiful little fact about the game's best fething race.

Take what you like, use it in your game and make it work for you. If not slap some new plans and scrap together and try again. Imagine how impotent the ork race would be if they were as afraid of failure and as full of unfounded reservations as we are.
