Looted wagons about the 4 - 5" size or 3" width can easily be given battle wagon profiles.
Leman Russes in particular make excellent kill cannon battle wagons. You can even use the FW super cannon rules (removing all transport capacity)

So... we thinking no more painboys for Gitz?
Wasn't there a rumour about army wide FNP for Orks? What if Painboys become some sort of HQ choice, like Grotsnik with Cybork bodies, but conferring army wide FNP?

I am fine with losing 'looted wagons' if they give us multiple tank classes. Trukk and Battlewagon are too extreme. We need a middleground like a 'gunwagon' which has better weapons/armor than a trukk but is not quite the transport/armor of a battlewagon.

I'm hoping against hope (but I seriously doubt it... this is serious wish-listing) that Orks could buy a squad of PainBoyz as an Elite or HQ choice similar to Eldar Warlocks, they could then be placed in certain types of squads. Maybe you wouldn't allow them with Burna Boyz, Stormboyz, Lootas or MegaNobz, but you could put them with Boyz, Grotz, Nobz, and Flash Gitz.
Personally, I put the Army-Wide FNP rule in the same bucket of salt with WAAAAGH! tokens. Both of those rules rumors came up at about the same time. The stat-line for Flash Gitz seems to debunk them both. There's no universal special rule like "Waaaaagh!" listed for the Flash Gitz which would allow them to generate Waaaagh! tokens. You'd need to have some kind of special rule for something like this.
That being said, I'm happy with Flash Gitz without a Painboy. For the price we're paying for them, I sort of wish they had kept their 4+ Armor, that's my only complaint. But their much cheaper cost combined with a dedicated transport choice makes them a semi-usable, cheap unit with high firepower. I could see putting 10 of them in a Battlewagon near a Morkanaut for the KFF save. The only bad thing about Flash Gitz is that they're going to get mowed down by enemy fire as soon as their transport is gone. Hopefully the rule change for vehicle explosions will help them out, so their Battlewagon won't explode all the time, killing half of them.

Agreed entirely here. Or hell, give us a more dedicated tank.

Again folks, FW isn't "by permission" anymore, or at least no more so than any other army list that you can field.
Look at the forge world rules, find the irk vehicle that matches to it. The old looted wagon is still in FW so no real loss unless you group is 100% no forge world.

I sort of wish they had kept their 4+ Armor, that's my only complaint. This is my gripe. In an army of t-shirt saves, they've taken away one of our few decent saves. The Kaptin has the same stat line as the Gitz, so I am assuming something is missing from the WD entry. Well, hoping. Automatically Appended Next Post: And with that, I'm out of this thread. Seems I can't even post my theories on possibilities without them being added to the rumor tracker, even after a polite request to remove them. Not worth the hassle of people calling me on something I never claimed.

IMO, the 4+ save wasn't doing the flash gitz any favours. I think it's worth the drop in points and the increased damage output. And now we can put them in a vehicle to make em tougher instead.
And, I have a sneaking suspicion that the speculation about painboyz becoming a unit attachment instead of an upgrade has some merit. I can only hope they haven't taken away the option of cybork bodies along with a painboy... that 5+ invulnerable save really kept my nobs alive.

In my opinion i think weirdboys and painboys will take similar roles to the new priests and psykers for Astra Militarum.
Also it kind of sucks that all three of the new releases we have seen so far are heavy support choices. Where is the love for fastattack... :(
Also with the new rules it would be awesome to get some sort of ap1 powerr klaw option. We have zero ways to pop high AV now.

If that was the case....
1. I'd use the hell out of that HQ choice, every game, forever. :-p
2. It would need to cost 250pts or something similarly pricey because a 5+ fnp, infantry-wide would be HUGE for Orks.

Good point. In those cases, I would just use the battle wagon rules.
As far as painboyz, assuming they are anything other than an upgrade for nobs, my guess would be they will be similar to commissars, tech priests, priests, and primaries psykers in the Astra army. 0-3 per FOC.

Of course there were some firm favourites to loot but with Orks your mind can go utterly wild! So, if you don’t see an option below in the poll that you like then fire up your typing fingers and let us know what you loved converting for your green tide of awesomeness!
There’s nothing stopping you from doing this kind of thing in the new edition of course, Orks are resourceful, but if Looted Vehicles really are going to the scrap heap what will you use your looted vehicles as?
Tbh to me this just sounds like a way of drumming up interest in their website, rather than anything concrete in evidence, rumours or not. you have to log in to vote and obviously a topic where you show off your vehicles is gona get people posting. but maybe all thats just the cynic in me
In terms of losing them, its kinda irrelevant if we do, the 'looted wagon' was basically just a model without a model. plenty of those everywhere. you could have used a trukk as a 'looted' wagon all the same
but enjoying the breakdown on the git weapons and just getting psyched in general! ive started a few flash gitz converts alreadah!

I bought a bunch of Ork stuff of Dakka Swap Shop and it came with a couple looted vehicles:
Rhino
Drop Pod
Wave Serpent
Soul Grinder
Since then, I've been working on a looted wagon made from a Devilfish, with the idea that when I win a game I loot one of their models somehow.
I will be seriously bummed if Looted Wagons are suddenly gone completely from the Codex. (And no, my group is 100% anti-Forge World so it being in an IA somewhere doesn't help.)

Haha, that is kinda what I have been working on, a couple of my buddies play BA and necron with distinctive paint jobs, I intend to loot a scythe (upside down with wheels strapped on) with a bunch of Ork gubbins and red paint over its original paint job. For my BA buddy, I am going to cut up a rhino with his paintjob, and make it into an Aegis Defense Line.

Yeah, I bought a SM Vindicator, a CSM Vindicator, and an IG Leman Russ Demolisher to use as Looted wagons, but hadn't had a chance to start them yet. If it's really gone, I'll sell them @ cost to someone for their army. At least I can get SOME money back out of them.
UNFORTUNATELY, that means I'll have to fight AGINST them instead of WITH them, but whatever...

Gah... am I wrong in thinking that GW is shooting themselves in the foot in removing "looted vehicle" rules?
Ork generals could drum up model sales easily if we can loot any vehicle and keep the same AV/weapon's loadout. Keep the same point cost from the original codex, make everything 'Get's Hot' and BS2... then call it for the day.

I imagine GW could actually make even more money off looted vehicles, simply releasing an "orky looting kit" with a bunch of scrap-looking vehicle armor plates, ork glyphs, random weapons, etc. $20 for the Orky Looting Kit, plus a random vehicle kit of your choice, and you've got the perfect looted wagon! That's not to say that most ork players aren't going to do the same with $3 of plasticard, but I'm guessing there are plenty of people who don't want to model their own, and instead would just buy the kit.

Yeah, exactly. Orks are the only army where GW can theoretically say "buy anything, it can all work!" A lootifying kit would go leagues in encouraging this mindset, plus GW might even sell an extra kit! (and even better, it will have positive association!)
