Ah, I get that, but that's not what we were saying. We were speaking strictly of working with a box of boyz and a box of Lootas.

You get parts to make a Nob in the Boyz kit so doable.

There are Nob Bitz in a box of Boyz though. And people generally have extras floating around of the Nob Bitz from building their Boyz units up to 30 strong, so it's not an unreasonable idea.

There's yet another mention of 'Death Skull Lootas'. I'm increasingly convinced that there will be a unit with that exact name in the codex. Whether it's simply the new name for Lootas or an upgrade for them is the big question.

The mention of Skarboys makes me think they could well be in the codex too. Although I would have thought they would call them 'Goff Skarboys' if the Deff Skulls get a named unit.

'Oddboys' as a collective term makes me a little more hopeful that we will get an oddboy council and be able to put painboys and meks anywhere we like. Wonder if Runtherds might be in there too and, if so, how they relate to Grot units.

This guy was made from the boyz kit and some extra bits and bobs that any self respecting ork player should have lying around.

I would go bananas over a deff skullz specific unit.

Could we please stop nitpicking at stuff pulled out of context?

Bahugo clearly said he was new to the hobby, so he probably doesn't have anything yet.

Taking that into account, the boyz box has eleven pairs of legs and thirteen torsos, one nob, two with holes for backpacks.
The three boxes of lootaz have fifteen pairs of legs and fifteen torsos, three of those with holes for backpacks.

Meaning the maximum number of models you get out of these boxes without adding anything is 26, so 12 lootaz+12 burnaz use up all but two pairs of legs.

For the last two, the tankbusta idea actually is the best one, considering you can use those rokkit launchas in your boyz mob until your collection is large enough.

I wouldn't advice using up the nob torso to convert a big mek, since most nobz available (AOBR, nobz box, metal models, new flash gits) can't be used to build nob bikers, but the nob torso from the boyz box fits the warbiker legs nicely. Use one of the other models for your big mek, and save the nob torso for later.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Not to nitpick more, but at least 3 of the nobs in the nobz box work for Nob Bikers, because they have a wide enough stance to fit the warbikes.

In short, I think we can sum up this whole topic line as: you can stretch Ork bitz far if you spend some time thinking how to do it.

Do they work with all the bikes?
I remember trying that and it not working well. Luckily I got my bikes from a pair of battleforces, so I had a bunch of nob torsos available.

Totally. I made 5 nob bikers and a warboss which were mostly Nob boxes and warbikes as base.

On the subject of expensive HQ: I scratchbuilt all my Painboyz and Big Mek HQ from spare bits, greenstuff and extra Nob/Boy bodies. If you're an Ork player you should have tons of bits laying around anyway and might only have to spend a few dollars on eBay for the right bases or that perfect missing part.

I've been wondering about this. How'd you make it work? Unfortunately when I bought my Nobz box set all my Warbikers were build, and I didn't have any spare bikes to try the comparability. Then later on when I got more Bikes, I'd already built and painted my Nobz!

So I have a handful of unbuilt bikes from the Battleforce sitting around, and I've been pondering if I should buy a box of Nobz to convert them with or not... but I've been hesitant to do that because if the conversion didn't work well, I really don't need more Nobz.

Also what did you do for the Nob arms holding onto the handlebars of the bike? That always bugged me, they don't give you more Nob-sized arms that are posed to grip the handlebar of the bike.

from the leaked photo of the Big Gunz kit, my hunch that it would be a buggy combo kit was squashed....really thought the carriage, fenders and gun shield would make sense on a new buggy...still might be shared sprues between kits though.

Remember that the weeks of pre-codex model releases also coincide with weekly white dwarf magazine releases...with rules for those new models included...so, they are counting on increasing their WD sales with this release scheme as well.

Makes me think that everyone should boycott the weekly releases until the codex comes out to send a message...

This weekly release crap is all ready annoying.

Probably as well as the boyz that come with the bikes, which is to say, not great. At least not for me. There are at least three biker boy legs in that kit that I just could not get to seat properly. Frustrating!

I couldn't care less about the staggered release schedule. It is different I guess, but I am not up in arms about it. You know exactly what the models are or do, they give the rule in WD. Use them with the current book if you buy and paint them that quickly (I have a morkanaut on my table right now).

They could have not released anything until the book came out in a couple weeks, but at least this way you can get some things table ready before hand.

I don't have much problem with the staggered release schedule either (though I still think the 1 week window is nuts).

All of the models will be on sale AFTER their week of release, so you can wait until you see the rules, or read the codex, or watch battlereports played with the new rules, or however long you want to buy them.

I mean, of course, me personally, is totally excited for orks, but I don't think it's bad business to release some stuff each week. If anything, I suspect it helps out GW stores and[b] FLGS because they don't have to make (and pay for) large orders one week, and they don't have to find shelf space for a ton of new stuff in one week.

If preview window was longer, I think it would help FLGS much more, as they could have a better idea of how much to order, but given their 1 week window, releasing a load of stuff all at once could really strain an independent's budget. Do you order shedloads of all the new stuff, and risk having lots of money tied up in inventory, or do you risk running out of the new hotness and losing sales? Stringing out sales over multiple weeks doesn't make that such a momentous decision.

Also, given GW's supply issues, having them deal with a little bit of stuff each week probably is for the best for them, too.

I just wish GW would see fit to a broader preview period:

Concept art and sneak peeks weeks in advance. Just show us a few things and let us go nuts with anticipation.

Rules and detailed pics in WD the week before. Actual nitty gritty stuff for the buyer on the fence.

Release the next week.

@Da Butcha

And that leaves out entirely the fact that it drives people into stores every week in theory instead of once a month. Which is really good for FLGS's as most people don't just buy one thing when they head into a store.

I'm already un-intentionally boycotting them LOL.

Once I get the codex I'm planning on getting at least 2 of the Big Guns kits. The Big Mek in Mega Armour will likely be very, very tempting if the rules for it are also good.

Other than that... I'll probably EVENTUALLY pick up some Flashgitz, and maybe even a Morkanaut... but they aren't models I feel I will need right out of the gate. I really just want to play Orks again... pull all my Battlewagons, Nobz, and Killa Kans off the shelf. I'm actually painting my first Dakkajet right now to psych myself up for the release. I hope they improve the rules for it a little bit!
