I really enjoy GW's rules.
People who complain too readily about them strike me as more like those "First World Problems" memes. Not really getting how good they have it and obsessing over the minutia.

What do you think these 'Eavy armour units with kombi-weapons could be? They are too big to be tankbustas/kommados as they are more nob sized.
EDIT: For some reason I couldn't get the pictures to work. If you want to view the images follow the url. These models are suspected to be nobz with lots of bitz stuck on them.
Images under the spoiler. The first one shows the new meganobs a little better, and to me it looks like you can pose their power klaws separate of the rest of the arm, but that might just be me. The second image is just nobs with kombi-shootas and jaws added, which are in the kit. You get 3 metal jaws in the Nobz box and 3 kombi-shootas - 1 kombi-skorcha and 2 kombi-rokkits, one with a big rokkit and one with 2 small rokkits. However, all the way to the left there is one nob with a new head - from the MANZ kit. It's the one with a cheese-grater visor - you can see it in the first pic and the original pic of the meganobs next to a Morkanaut.
EDIT: Here is a better picture of that new mek as well. He's holding a very small KMB, so mayne it's a kustom mega-slugga instead? He looks boy-sized instead of nob-sized, but it's very hard to tell. The arms look nob, but the statured and head say boy.

Except if you actually like playing 40K with your friends and using models you think are cool, reguardless who manufactured them.
P.S. Just because you don't like the 40K rules, doesn't mean everyone else agrees with your assesment of their worth.

hmm... a new walker... new (somewhat bizarre, mek-centric) artillery... new flash gitz... new shock attack gun... this new codex looks like it's shaping up to be centered pretty strongly on ork technology, and the boyz who make it. just hope we get new buggies and deffkoptaz soon, as those are mainstays in my current army.

I'd say it is just some form of mek tool. I always thought that mek tools should have had CC stats like Armourbane though. You can imagine a Mek taking a vehicle apart in CC and shouting at the nobs not to smash it with their claws as he is dissecting it.

sadly, you're probably right, it doesn't look like there'll be any in their initial release wave... and if the past is any indication, once this wave has passed, gw will completely ignore orks in favor of the next fotm army to get an update, once more leaving an army with several codex units without model kits to represent them properly.
i recall one of my early games getting back into the hobby, when i played against a tyranid army, and knew very little of what was what, so i was asking the guy all kinds of questions about his units. one thing that came up was one of his conversions. he told me he'd had to convert some big nasty creature into a different big nasty creature, cuz there was no model for it, nor even official gw stuff to make that particular monster available, which struck me as kinda sad. i mean, ork players can slap together just about anything and call it whatever we like... tyranids, among others, aren't quite so fortunate.

There will likely be "new" Deffkoptas that are a repackage of the older AOBR koptas, what with the models already in plastic and molds that hold up to the current Ork aesthetic.

I personally love the look of the current deffcoptas, so the only downside of a repackaging for me would be the horrendous price-hike over currently just getting the kits as bitz online.

Also, Face-ripper is mentioned in the article. Wasn't there a rumor about rules for Grukk the face ripper?
If they codex authors decide to add some versatility into the rules, we could see bunches of options for HQ, each unlocking some klan rules... Or we could see no extra rules at all. With reliable rumors dried up, we really have no idea.
Hell, we don't even know when the codex will drop...

Here's what gets me. They are selling for $377: * 4 Big Guns * 10 Lootas * 10 Flash Gits * 1 Big Mek 25 guys, and a tiny fraction of an army, for more than most car payments cost. In comparison a 1,000 point Bolt Action army (like 40 guys plus a tank) is about $125; you could buy two complete armies plus the rules and additions for the same price. That's sheer insanity. I can forgive garbage rules, hell I can forgive their outright incompetence and relying on "forge the narrative", but when you look at spending nearly $400 and getting basically nothing in return, it really makes you wonder what the heck is going on.

Name another war-game like Warhammer 40k and compare the two.
Concerning the one click wit hthe mek guns, it is an absurd price for an absurd collection of models. The big gunz are what skew the price to ridiculous levels.

I had a thread dedicated to this topic for about a year until it finally got locked. Still, you didn't actually think the Big Guns would cost less than a Dread, did you?
Yes, I think I'll pass on the big guns and I'll get a box of Flash Gitz and the Shokk guy off an online discounter. I've got an unused box of Nobz and I'll get a set of the Black Reach ones just to kit out an many Flash Gitz as possible.
The point where I'll be ruined financially is when they finally release Bretonnian stuff.

I buy a pretty high amount of Warhammer models per year. I sell a fair amount, but I hit around $600 a year after misusing my sales.
There is no way I am buying a big gun, let alone a battery. They aren't worth it on the table or as a collector's item. They are the only thing I have ever seen for one of my armies and felt repulsed by in terms of cost.
That is saying something.

Good god this. Its really eye opening to go play something like Infinity and then come back to this.
Its equally eye opening to see some of the gak 40k gamers not only put up with, but consider to be a normal and acceptable state of affairs. For instance, 90% of most codexes options being complete and total rubbish, a handful of armies dominating the game at any given time, army matchups that hard counter one another, entire playstyles (melee) being super gak right now because "edition dakka", and the all importance of the "current metagame" and related paper-scissors-rock elements.
None of this is good game design, and none of it is commonplace outside of GW offerings.

Personally, I'm happy that GW is putting out rules that update the orks and make them more 'shooty' while maintaining their close combat effectiveness. These changes really keep with the fluff as well...more dakka and more krump'n! From what I've seen so far, the codex will be much more competitive and a lot of fun to play.
Opponents are really going to need to prioritize their targets...do they go for the G/M-naught blasting away, the Mek gun batteries, the flash gitz in the BW, or the bunches of boyz or nobs rushing their lines in BW? Never mind buggies, deffkoptas, or Ork flyers.
Can't wait to see the knew codex!

Those rumours are wrong.
People such as Darnok from Warseer have been saying so repeatedly over the last few weeks. Nobody outside Natfka/ BoLS posts/heard/knows anything about Brets (as far as I am aware).
Same pattern like the Blood Angels vs. Orks (or Guard vs. Eldar, in the case of Natfka) starter box rumours (which were also disputed, including by 40K Radio, everytime they appeared, yet kept getting re-posted over and over in some strange quest for willful misinformation).
Or, if we go back further a bit, the great Orks vs. Templars releases Natfka was peddling less than a year ago.
