Subject: Coalesced Contemplations on an Ork Clan.

Lately, I’ve been contemplating Orks, and I’ve decided to collect these ideas scattered around my head. In this process, I think I’ve stumbled upon an idea for a unique clan. Now, my knowledge of Orks is rather basic, so if this sounds like a clan that already exists or is similar then feel free to tell me so.
The main theme for this clan is guns. They love them. Cannons, artillery, rocket launchers, handguns, you name it. That’s not to say they don’t like a good brawl like any other Ork; but if they can watch their enemies be obliterated from the comfort of a lawn chair, then they’re happy as can be. Not sure on a name or colour, still working on that.
This obsession with firepower gave rise to a unique unit of “Ork Snipas”. Similar to looters who specialize in heavy weaponry, but as the name suggests their weapons are powerful, single shot rifles. Each snipa carries a unique, personalized weapon, but most can be described as oversized rifles or cannons fitted with an array of lenses. Snipas can also use specialized ammo such as solid slug, explosive, flechette, etc. Whatever crazy bullet idea a big mek can come up with. Along with their obsession with big guns, snipas also have a gambling problem and a need to one up the other Orks. They'll constantly be betting teeth and their special ammo amongst themselves what target they'll hit and how many shots it will take.
Most important of all is their warboss. The warboss has always had a problem choosing what weapon he wanted to bring to battle. He solved this problem by bringing all of them. He goes to war with a specially modified gun made up by a bolt-action auto cannon, a heavy bolter, complete with bolter ammunition (which he covets very much), a regular Ork shooter and a skorcha. All of these have been bolted, welded, taped and tied together into one giant gun. It also doubles as a pretty good hammer as well. The warboss is, as you can imagine, motivated for the need for bigger and better ordinance. These will are either kept for himself or sold off to other clans.
This is what I have so far, so if you can think of names, critiques or anything else to add, I would love to hear it.

Sounds a bit like Bad Moon blinginess mixed with Kommando sneakiness. The warboss gun would be well represented by the existing "gets hot" snazzgun type thing. Its a nice idea though and would look really cool with converted up models.

Honestly, this sounds more like a tribe than a clan.
I could see it being a tribe which attracts orks from the Bad Moons clan (huge, expensive weapons), or the Death Skulls (looting other guns), or even the Blood Axes (maybe some who had dealings with IG Artillery companies?). In any case, I think that the tribe might be from any of those clans (or even, have representatives from all three). You could have a tribe of Bad Moons who are very wealthy, and have paid some Death Skulls for choice bits of gubbins and plunder, and paid some Blood Axes to 'negotiate' with the Imperium for ammo and supplies.
Not that there would be anything wrong with it being a clan, but it just seems more believable as a tribe (the way a new Chapter sounds more believable when it is a subsequent founding of a known Space Marine Legion, rather than a chapter founded from Traitor geneseed or the geneseed of one of the disappeared Legions). Alternatively, think of the Speed Freeks. They aren't a tribe, OR a clan, but run across both groups. I think these guys might be the same (the Gun Nuttas?)
Some other additional ideas for such a group of orks might be a common love of loud noises. All orks think that guns which are louder work better, but these orks might fetishize noise the way the Speed Freeks revere speed. I could see vehicles festooned with speakers and glass packs to make the exhaust louder too. Being largely deaf, the orks might communicate mostly through shouting (even moreso than normal), giving them a reputation among other orks as being 'loud and proud'. In the old Gorkamorka game, a lot of battles began with a 'revvin' and shoutin' phase, where the loudest mob went first! You might even pick up some of the old Ork Goffik Rockers, to give the army some more noise!
It's a great idea and a great theme (though, again, I think it makes more sense as a tribe). I might suggest a name like "Da Boomers", "Da Big Gun Brigade", or the "More Dakka Orks". Presumably, the Arch-Arsonist loves fire, so why not a Warlord who loves the boom of the big guns?

Tribe does sound better. I only used the word "clan" to denote a grouping of orks. I always imagined the group being in the medium range and tribe fits this very well.
I'm on the fence about the sound idea, although the extra loud engines do sound pretty cool.

The 'Gun Nuttas' concept as an alternative to 'Speed Freaks' is a sound one, though it does sound a little like a Freebooter tribe/warband if the boss is going to sell on his gear for buckets of teef rather than keep it all for his own forces.
I'd definitely go with a Bad Moon influence re colours though - if red is the Fastest colour, and purple the Sneakiest for Orks, then yellow is definitely the Shootiest and Bad Moons have always had the most powerful guns out of all of the clans for the normal rank and file ladz.
The loud engines idea also very much fits the Bad Moons theme, as while their vehicles might not be as fast as those in Evil Suns/Speed Freak type forces, they are fluff-wise heavily modified for maximum noise output. It's no surprise that back in the day, the Braincrusha tank/gunwagon was associated heavily with Bad Moons (a Braincrusha being a medium-large sized wagon with a gun about size of a Supa Kannon or even bigger in its hull, which the crew loved to fire for the massive noise, damage and recoil giving the thing its name of the 'Braincrusha'). Once you get the army really going, it could be worth looking at building one of those for some seriously big gun shenanigans. Lord knows I'd love to build one for my Waaagh in the future.
Putting Goff Rockers on the back of a vehicle is no bad idea tho - intending to do the same myself for one in the near future (one of the old Gorkamorka trukks, proxied to be a buggy).
Best of luck!

Gun Nuttas sounds good for a tribe.
How does warboss "Daktoof" sound?

Definitely Bad Moon. A large percent of Bad Moon Shoota Boyz save up the teef to become "Flash Gitz", Orks with large and powerful "Snazzguns", the upgrading and maintenance of which becomes their prime money sink. These Orks love shooting at stuff, but being Orks they still aren't very accurate, even though you can drop some extra points to give them Targeting Squigs for pets.

You want Daktoof? You can't handle Daktoof!
Grammatically (ha!), it seems like it should be Dakkatoof (or maybe Dakkateef), but, hey, he's the Warboss. If he wants to be called the Mighty Mangler of Bork, then he is!
