So, this is just a tongue in cheek topic with no intention of flaming anything.
Can the release of the Imperial Knights be considered Bretonnians in space? I know they've already had an established backstory in 40K, but from reading the fluff it seems that on Knight Worlds its pretty much feudal backwater country with the exception of the Knights. So I'm envisioning an Imperial Guard army with Knights as a detachment. Use the Bretonnian Knights of the Realm as calvary. Use the bowmen as standard guardsmen with "lasguns" and Men at Arms as some kind of "close combat specialist squad" if the guard has any units like that.
Or play Bretonnians in Fantasy and proxy Imperial Knights as trebuchets.
I can see an Ork/Necron invasion on a Knight world and these Men at Arms and calvary knights getting into formation ready to tackle the invading xenos only to die horribly acting as cannon fodder for the Imperial Knights.

Personally I'd love a reptilian race for 40K. Big bipedal dinosaurs in sleek battle armor, laser weaponry in their hands and grenades on slings around their torsos. Handheld energy shields. Their vehicles can be sleek and advanced with hover units and such, and then have a few large creatures decked out with missile platforms on their backs, mounted lasers, drone dispensers or some kind of exotic technology. Don't forget big shield generators and huge tesla coils to zap enemies. They don't necessarily need long tails, think Krogans from Mass Effect. They can be of subtle design, they have a lot of experience with Lizardmen from Fantasy.

I want a reptilian 40k army so bad haha. It's to the point where I bought some lizardmen models and converted them to be my kroot using fire warrior bodies and Saurus legs and heads with kroot arms. I'd love it personally even if it really wouldn't fit in a main army codex.

You know I bet if you run an Eldar/Dark Eldar list you could do a pretty good count as utilizing those rules.

Well, If the Old Ones made the Slann in 40k, I suppose that there is room for the Lizardmen to be yet another warrior race created by the increasingly desperate Old Ones as their empire came crashing down around them.

Slann as in Rogue Trader were basically Lizardmen in space, unless you want to make the argument that they are amphibians., lol
I think some additions could make Kroot into "space Lizardmen", especially if you build upon the Chapter Approved mercenaries list from 4e.
Space Marines are already Brettonians in space.

The link that I saw was that feudal society part and the heraldry. The upper nobles use their knights to protect the peasants while the peasants do its peasant things in service to the nobles. Imperial Knights only have one unit so crunch wise it doesn't look like Bretonnians. But fluff wise, in my head I imagine King Arthur landscape with a bunch of farms and such. And then there's a castle where they house the knights and is the only place that has any technology that is gunpowder era+. Then I see duels between knight pilots around tournament times. They wouldn't use the knights themselves since before the mechanicus most were in states of disrepair. So they mount up in horses and armor (maybe adamantine armor for the nobles) and start jousting.
There's no evidence of any of this, except they have absolutely no technology asides from the knights, but I just thought it worked something to that regard.

If you look at the three groups, imperial, chaos and xenos the one that is really lacking is chaos. If you look at chaos it really only has one of three styles of army. The three styles are elite, swarm and utility. Both daemons and CSM are utility, they're best served with a good smattering of infantry swarms and larger elite and heavy support. So what they need is either an elite army (think grey knights, imperial knights) or a swarm (think orks or tyranids), I'd go with elite and base it off the fantasy ogres. Low model count, high cost. They could be called the Chaos Gods, they'd be packed with MC's and the lowest infantry would still equal a terminator, fast attack would be a joke but heavy support would be maxxed and so would HQ. The special charchters would be lesser gods if the warp and would enable their equivalent unit to bybtroop choices. Would be badass.

Kain wrote: Well, If the Old Ones made the Slann in 40k, I suppose that there is room for the Lizardmen to be yet another warrior race created by the increasingly desperate Old Ones as their empire came crashing down around them. There are Slaan (well, Slann) in wh40k, actually. I believe there's a picture of one in the 4th ed rule book. Shamelessy C&P'd from lexi. Among all the races of the galaxy, the Slann claim to be one of the oldest, who evolved, matured and spread throughout space hundreds of thousands of years ago. At the height of their empire, they discovered and nurtured many primitive creatures. They encouraged the evolutionary process on countless worlds where they eradicated or moved dangerous species whilst seeding many worlds with promising stock. Over the course of millennia, they experimented and played with the galaxy in this manner; some credit the Slann with creating the modern races in the galaxy.[1b] In this distant past, the Slann were known as the greatest of the spacefaring races and encountered the Eldar. Through this contact, the Eldar learnt many of the Old Slann's arcane secrets of the universe. Thousands of years before mankind's first forays into space, the ancient Slann empire began to collapse.[2a] As their civilisation dwindled, the pace of their empire slowed and they largely abandoned their genetic experiments. The reasons for this change in behaviour were not known, as there are no records of destructive wars or disasters that befell their empire. Instead, it was believed that they had a sudden change in their racial motivations that led to them abandoning any desire for physical conquest or power. This was followed by a retirement from active affairs in the galaxy and they engaged in a long period of indolence as well as introspection. What their true reasons for doing so is unknown; some believe that the Slann discovered some unknown secret of the cosmos or a spiritual truth or even gained a supreme mystical insight.[1b] It is known that they were conscious of the existence of Warp Entities, which they called the Powers of Chaos and even forewarned the Eldar of the dangers they would face in the future, including the cataclysmic Fall. Some of the Eldar heeded their warnings, leaving their homeworlds for the Craftworlds.[2a] During this time, the Old Slann not only taught the Eldar of the dangers of the Warp but also of its benefits.[2b] The Slann are also speculated to be the creators of the Jokaero species, given that the Slann are believed to have visited Earth on numerous occasions, coupled with the Jokaero's resemblance to Terra's Orangutan species.[1c] After their retreat from the galaxy, the Slann are known to have resided on a number of proximate and prosperous worlds located north of the galactic pole.[1b] When the Eldar created their mighty civilisation, they not only adopted but also refined and perfected the ancient Slann knowledge of the warp as well as its movements.[4] During the Age of the Imperium, some primitive tribes of Slann reside on planets within the space of the Imperium. Despite the great era of their empire being long gone, the Slann remain among the most enigmatic race within known space.[1b] The Slann make their first appearance in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader where a section covers their involvement in the galaxy such as teaching the Eldar of the warp as well as predicting the emergence of Slaanesh. They are also suggested as being the possible creators of the Jokaero.[Needs Citation]Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness also describes the Slann's knowledge of the warp being perfected by the Eldar when they created the Webway.[Needs Citation] After the early editions, the Slann made no further appearances in the setting, though a picture of a reptilian alien known as a Slanni appears in the pages of the Warhammer 40,000 4th Edition Rulebook.[3] By the fourth edition, much of the background of the Slann is taken over by the Old Ones mentioned in Codex: Necrons. A possible link between the Slann and the Old Ones is implied within the campaign sections of the Codex, which states that the C'tan maintain a hatred of any of the degenerate descendants of the Old Ones, though it is unclear whether the Slann are one of these descendants, or a subject race.[Needs Citation] 1: Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader 1a: pg. 131 1b: pg. 194 1c: pg. 196 2: Codex Titanicus (1st Edition) 2a: pg. 52 2b: pg. 53 3: Warhammer 40,000 4th Edition Rulebook, pg. 139 4: Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness, pg. 215 http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Slann#fn_1b
