Haha I hear ya man. I had another Ork army and painted it all green. I love the classic green, but for some reason when I started them for the second time something like this popped in my head. Orks are scary looking and have big sharp teef, so i kind of really like this cold, vampiric look. Also they were DE slaves until they broke free.

I'm hoping to do some heavy painting the next couple of weeks and I will be posting updates. Unfortunately I am a really slow painter haha. I found some DE bitz and im adding spikes and cool stuff to as many boyz as i can!

I always press dat, if you know what I mean.

Good call, maybe this is the kind of thing to get people excited to be more imaginative.

Maybe brown Orks, human flesh Orks(that would look creepy) maroon or red Orks.

well the fluff is orks are more like flora than mammals, i mean they replicate through spores. Now considering the diversity of colours involved with plants I really see no reason why orks shouldnt be various colours.

The best 'Green skin' orks I see tend to actually contain a fair bit of yellow and blue, as these compliment really nicely. But in general any colour skin is typically built up of various colours. I am very aware that painters painting portraits will often do a base layer of there portrait in green which really adds realism and depths to the flesh colours.

I do enjoy green orks, but recently ive seen more and more in various colours. there is a thread where a guy is painting his orks like the character from God of War and they look sick

I have done a few bluish orks, and I think it works reasonably well:

in honesty the picture doesnt do much justice, but he was based blue compared to normally my yellow basing. I definitely will be experimenting more in the future

Still working out the process. I added some DE bitz here and there to give them a cohesive look. Batch painting a bunch so ill update next time with a big group picture so you can get the feel for how they will look on the table. Im Not great basing and im not sure if i like what i did so far.

Very interesting color choice. I like it! I echo the opinion that the shootas need to have their barrels drilled. It's a simple detail but it adds a lot to the mini.

Depending on just how big you want to go with them, if you don't want to drill the barrels, you should paint black circles on the ends to make them LOOK hollow.

What color added to purple makes a green tone? I'd love to see what happens when you wash a figure with purple skin with the required color to make a green.

Please try that with one, because I would like to see what happens.

Also, your skin looks great, and purple orks in a DE world sounds fun.
