I havn't been able to field my baneblade or shadowsword (str D 120") yet, but Ive been toying with the idea of allying a dark angel's librarian with powerfield generator to give my superheavy 4+ invul save and prescience. It'd cost 95pts for the librarian with pfg, and the troop choice is either 70 or 60 for tactical marines or scouts respectively. I could also put the librarian on a bike for 20pts and even get 3 bikes for 80 more points (so 100pts for mobility with extra models for wounds).

I was thinking if the superheavy isnt going to move much that it is a definite buy, but if it will move, spending 200 (1/3 the cost) or so points on mobile 4++ and prescience may be a little too much.

What do you all think?

I don't know much about super heavys but how far do you expect it to move in a given turn. Also I'd go for the scouts as troops with camo cloaks for your lobs ablative shielding.

Either a of moving or none at all. As for as ablative wounds, I think I may wrap my superheavy in cheap conscripts to protect from DSing units. So they could act as ablative wounds for the libby.

I love this tactic, I play IG and have the librarian hug the back of a leman russ squad with an infantry squad for extra wounds. The AV14 and 4++ is very tough and lasts all most of the game while taking massive firepower (barring luck of course). I couldn't even imagine how tough a Bane Blade would be.

Would the pfg "cover" a superheavy completely or just partially?

And what's the point? It's not likely u're getting a baneblade destroyed with something that's not S: D. You can protect from meltas with simple bauble-wrap u're gona have anywayz. And for 200 pts you can get 50 more conscripts to bauble-wrap your bauble-wrap.

Not scoring is a problem. Actually, conscripts with comissar are dead-hard to get rid off. And they can tarpit stuff for the duration of the whole game if you can keep a comissar out of challenges. It's quite possible to stay out of combat radius for 2-3 turns without much effort. Personally i run 50-strong conscripts with comissar along with 50-strong platoon with nades, Tigurius and xeno inquisitor. And i'm happy with the results i get from both platoon and conscripts.

Anywayz, that the other sort of question - which bauble wrap to use. My main idea in the previous post was that you don't actually need this 4++. You're well- protected from meltas with a bauble-wrap and if the opponent goes mass bright-lances or stuff, here's where your insane bodycount will be handy. And if u're facing S: D it ignores saves anywayz.

Remember that you could also take a techmarine with a pfg as well, if you are really expecting them to come under that much firepower.

That said, I agree with the other guy. If you have baneblades then they might have str D. Depends on your meta. But against non D weapons its a great way to protect your investment.

What about prescience from the librarian too? Do you think that is worth it? I know on the shadowsword a lot of people pay 100pts for BS4, but prescience can be gotten for 95pts as well as getting 4++ cover save.

While I do think having that 4++ and prescience isn't a bad idea for 95 points, its not really needed. As others have pointed out, bubble wrap will keep you safe from the scariest normal AT weapons, and D weapons are going to ignore your invul to begin with. Also, remember that the Shadowsword has a volcano cannon with a 7" template, so even if you scatter you're probably going to still be touching your target or something else of value.
However, if you do decide to bring the DA allies, I'd probably make sure you bring 1-2 sets of sponsons without targeters to make sure you get the most out of prescience.

Actually, it only gets a large blast, so it is a 5" template (in escalation). so it has a 2.5" radius, and with the shadowswords BS of 3, scattering could be a problem.
