The people I play with are pretty relaxed, and will allow me to play with a Imperial Knight allied to CSM. So, that got me thinking about what sorta list might include a Imperial Knight. Obviously a Knight is a huge military resource. For a Chaos Space Marine army, they would be even more rare (because it would be rather difficult to capture a Knight...). But if two Warpsmiths pooled the resources, surely the could salvage one.... So what do you guys think? I mostly use models that I like, but at the same time I would rather not be curb stomped everyte I play with this army. And it will be a almost completely mechanical army, the
only things without heavy armor around them will be the cheap expendable cultist., and the already super tough Oblitorators.

HQ
Warpsmith

Warpsmith

ELITES
Helbrute, Powerfist and Reaper Autocannon.

Helbrute, Powerfist and Reaper Autocannon.

Helbrute, Powerfist and Twin Linked Lascannon.

TROOPS

Chaos Cultist x28

Chaos Cultist x28

Chaos Space Marine x8, Aspiring Champion with CCW/Bolt Pistol, Rhino.

Chaos Space Marine x8, Aspiring Champion with CCW/Bolt Pistol, Rhino.

HEAVY SUPPORT

Chaos Predator, Twin Linked Lascannon, Side Sponsons Lascannon.

Oblitorators x3

ALLIED DETACHMENT

Imperial Knight, either variant(Yeah, I know they don't ally. The people I play with are awesome though.)

All that drops in at right under 1850 points! What do you guys think?

That looks like a really fun list, I do have some questions what do the Warpsmiths come with?

HQ

What are the Warpsmiths doing exactly? Are you putting them with the CSM Squads?

Troops
Drop the Squads down by 5. Get a Aegis Defence Network, and something with Skyfire ( Quad gun). Plus it's a decent enough way to have a camp.

Put some special weapons in the CSM squads or at least something. Flamers whatever. Just give them something.

Elites
Purchase this as the Formation Dataslate for Helbrutes that just came out. You have 3 already now they can deepstrike and have It will not Die.

Heavy Support:

I am not a fan of the Predator as it takes up so many points why not just take more Obliterators?

Having the Helbrutes with Deepstrike and a Aegis Defense Network ( Or sacrificial altar if you will) allowing you to reroll reserves would give a really good chance of Turn Two Dropping Helbrutes in someones face then backing it up with Obliterators that's pretty devastating and really in your face.

Turn One
Move everything Towards your opponent including the Knight
Turn Two
If the knight isn't dead, Good Luck he along with a couple of Helbrutes are now in the Deployment along with Obliterators.

So..

Warpsmith
Warpsmith

Elites
DataSlate Helbrutes x3 w/ a mix of Autocannons and Multimeltas

Troops
20 Chaos cultists w/ some sort of mark, nurgle , slaanesh, something

20 Chaos Cultists w/ some sort of mark nurgel, slaanesh, something

CSM w/ some special weapons plasma or melta, Rhino
CSM w/ some special weapons plasma or melta , Rhino

Heavy Support
3 Obliterators

3 Obliterators

Allied
KNIGHT

Fortification
Aegis Defense Line w/ Comm Relay ( Sacrificial Altar to the Dark Gods)

This is a really super aggressive list. You've got Helbrutes deepstriking, Obliterators could deepstrike, a Knight that's Moving 12 inches a turn toward them, Rhino Rush to a degree.

Oh yeah, this list is designed for pure fun .

The Warpsmiths are there for the fluffy reason stated, and in the actual game they would be hanging back fixing the Predator and Helbrute with Lascannon.

I hadn't heard of the Dataslate coming out, that sounds seriously awesome!

I didn't even think about the lack of anti air, that's a really good idea. I didn't add specail weapons into the squad, because the would mainly be sitting on objectives, and I though that I had enough extra firepower in all the other FOC slots. Is there any special in particular you think they need?

I had the Predator in there with the Lascannon Helbrute for a reliable source of Anti Armor firepower (becuase the Knight will be having fun rampaging through the troops), and Obliteraters have to change weapons every turn, whereas the Predator doesn't, and one of them is Twin Linked. Plus, I can actually heal the Predator with the Warpsmith, giving him some survivability

EDIT: Just read the edited post, I love the ideas you got. Thanks so much for the input!!

Yeah Definitely go with the Dataslate Helbrutes, not only do they get deepstrike but they get to roll the Crazed Result every turn regardless. Which actually is good because you can get the result to fire at what you want since no one actually damaged it or get fleet or stand in shoot. They're not a unit either , so they don't have to maintain Vehicle Coherency I don't think. Someone else could flesh out the rules. I mean yeah they could just sit there... but they can't move when they deepstrike in anyway.

Give them Multimeltas, Heavy Flamers or Power Scourges and go to town.

If the CSM are objective holders , give them some sort of special weapon or Mark that isn't to expensive.

I don't have my book with me right now to read up on all the Warpsmith rules but I think they come with some pretty awesome stuff.

Yeah that's just a heck of a fun list to play.

I mean you could honestly keep the Knight in Reserve it moves 12 inches It's not going to be hurting on movement, then on the second turn come on board with EVERYTHING.

Having the Warpsmiths in the CSM squads which already have meltas, is great. Also take Mark of Khorne for the Warpsmiths.

Keep the Knight in reserve might work, but then I wouldn't have much on the board, and it would probably all get hit pretty bad. Hm. This list would just need to make REALLY good use of cover in turn 1, haha.

If your worried your opponent can blow it up in one turn of shooting it's really the only way to protect it. Unless you move it up against a piece of terrain that's going to get it a cover save.

That looks like a fun army to play though, lots of things in your face on turn two and multiple ways to deal with things.

Helbrutes with just Multimeltas and Powerfist with a H. Flamer would be perfectly fine if a Dataslate and save you some points honestly. You could probably have more points for cultists or work some points in for something else.

Very cool theme though. Would love to play against it or play that army.

Thanks for the compliments, and thanks so for the input! I was just playing around with ideas, but I'm really excited to play this list now, especially with the Helbrute Dataslate!

Army looks cool. I get you're doing your own fluff and having warpsmiths capture a knight but chaos already have knights (gw just didnt give them then for now) so with that you can get two decent hq choices as well the knights dont need corrupted

Ah, I see. As much as I love the fluff, I sure don't know much about it, haha.
