Hi everyone,
I recently finished this Tamiya T-55, the overall paint scheme is meant to represent a tank that has been sitting in a bone yard for a couple of years, and as such I have rusted the barrel. What do you all think? I definitely need to get a new camera as my current camera is not picking up the mud on the running gear, oh well such is life .

Thanks for looking, Tech!

Wow looks fantastically realistic. The third photo is especially nice.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

With the right backdrop and lighting, it could easily be mistaken for the real thing.

Awesome placement of rust. Top notch weathering.

Rickfactor: you are giving me some ideas, maybe I should have a go!

The rusty portion on the rear was done by using a rust coloured oil paint that was deposited into the knocks and cranies, it was then blended into the paint work running a brush laden with white spirits over the rust wash. I can go into more detail if you want?

Please do, Iown nothing that needs weathering but I am fascinated by how you achieved those results.

Thanks heaps Trondheim! I would love to see the T-55 in person, but coming from Australia, tanks are a rare sight down here and it is fair to say that I am always in a constant state of being tank deprived

Ok! When I do my next model, I will go through a mini tutorial on some weathering techniques, I won't do it now though as pictures really speak louder than words in this case!!
