Potentially very interesting news for any fans of the popular historical game SAGA.

While perusing the Salute line-up for 2014 (taking place in London in about 10 days time), I noticed the game entry from Gripping Beast. See link: http://www.salute.co.uk/salute/salute-2014/games/

Title: 'SAGA: The Crescent & The Cross'

I have heard that GP are producing a new Gladiator combat game (featuring larger scale miniatures, which have inter-changeable components). However, this is the first time I have heard of this.

From the title, I assume an early Medievil period set during the Crusades?

Just wondered if anyone had heard anything else about this? Personally am extremely excited about the prospect of the SAGA game system being expanded into a later period!

Yes, first crusade (at least) and the reconquesta of Spain. Plastic Arabs as well. I think it might be delayed until May though but the troops will be at Salute with 'get you by' rules and battle boards which is nice.
It is on Gripping Beasts own web page for Salute along with the Gladiators and the large figures for it. If I were Foundry or Crusader I would be sure to have my gladiator figures on display somewhere prominent.

Ah I didn't realise the Gripping Beast website had been updated! So, perhaps not such bit of sleuthing on my part..

Some of the plastic Arabs look very nice!

some of the metal crusaders

Very interested to see how the game will play when compared to Dark Ages-era SAGA, and definitely looking forward to seeing the Jerusalem-themed board at Salute

If you peruse the saga board, there is stuff on there where they've been talking about a crusades era saga set. The discussion died off a while back, but it leaves off with the note 'it's under development'
