Random post, just a thought I had and how warhammer really is impacting my life.

Been in a pretty gakky depression for 2 years and a half now. no amount of meds made me happy and had to be interned twice. I really hit rock bottom.
A year ago I discovered warhammer. it wasent life changing on the spot but it looked like fun. So I bought a trygon, some paint and brushes on my way. I mounted the model the same day, making something on my own, all by myself in almost a year.
Already, there was this feeling of accomplishment is something I could use. But things kinda died there. I didnt find the motivation to paint it. so it sat there for a good 6-8 months.
Flashback 2 months ago, my big brother comes up to me. He dug out his old warhammer, and blood angels. Wooh, jackpot!

So we set to paint every now and then and make our way to a 535 point army. Ive started painting out of feeling I needed to do them for him.
But now I wake up in the morning(waking up before 13:00 is already an "exploit in itself) and I want to do something. I got motivation. I wanna paint, and model.
I wanna paint my nids.

Maybe its misplaced motivation. Maybe. But im gonna hold on to that, because its been a long while ive felt good about anything ive done, and these, this place, and just making things? Wow, it makes me feel alive.

So yeah, thats just my two cents about it. Love this place and everyone in it, and Games workshop for making this hobby I now cherish so hard!

Complementary gaunts, gotta touch em up and hope theyll be done for tommorow, completing my long lasting goal of a 535 point list

Warhammer is starting to get bad for me. I hate my life so much, I start to delve deeper and deeper into it. Thinking about it in class and such. Just recently winning a tournament made me feel worse, taking Ovesa star and crushing two noobies I got pair with.

Oh boy, didnt mentionned it, but I played it for 4 years. I get easily addicted to things. But warhammer is the first addiction that actually gives me something "concrete" as a reward of my time and efforts.
Yes, I did get that sweet tier 2 from grinding BWL, but thats nothing compared to a badass 6 inch monster of claws and teeth!

Well, I'm always very happy to read stuff like this Not only are you beating the depression, it seems you have great talent too! I saw your Trygon and he looks beautiful, as a first model that's mighty impressive!

Keep on rockin'!

Good to hear the hobby has made a positive impact on your life, makes a nice change from all the moaning one reads about it. You seem to have really got the point of 40k and that's great.

Have to say, your painting is pretty awesome too.

It is great that 40k is having such a positive impact on your life and giving you and your brother an activity to bond over. War gaming's ability to form connections between people is one of the best aspects of the activity in my opinion, and your experience really shines a light on how little plastic space manz can do so much more than just look neat on a game table. So kudos to the two of you, I hope the journey through 40k continues to be positive!

Your Nids look good, by the way. They have a nice smooth finish that works so well on bugs. Now that you are close to reaching your 535 point goal do you have a new goal in mind? Knock out a couple more 500 point milestones and you will be on your way to an Apocalyptic swarm that would make the Hive Mind proud!

Another good story on a Friday! Congrats! My girlfriend had a similar issue with you, but she started cutting/coloring people's hair. It helped her a lot, and actually turned into a career that she loves.

Stay positive, and keep painting! Maybe I'll send you some of my Tau to paint, too! Warning - I'll only pay in Loonies and Two-nies

And if you're drinkin' well, you know that you're my friend and I say "I think I'll have myself a beer"

If it keeps you going, it's not. I'm sure I would have offed myself long ago if not for gaming and the friends I've made through gaming.
