The kind of relationships you'd have sex over.
Heart corresponds to regular human love, spades to a rather sexualized form of (non-murderous) hate, diamond to morality pet/shoulder to cry on friend, and club to mediator.

Didn't the salamanders chapter master punch a marines malevolent captain in the face for being an ass-wipe?

Punching one of the marines malevolent in the face should be Imperial law.

I just remembered that there is, or at least was, a variant of the Cherub hat WAS much more Grimdark.
Called the Nephilim, they actually were made from real children, but they had to be under six years old. Despite being lobotomized, they were still more intelligent than standard Cherubim and could perform more functions. It was apparently very difficult to perform the procedure correctly, so out of millions of children only twenty or so survived the process.
I think it was a character item option in the old Inquisitor RPG.

The obvious choice would be Iron Hands but I dislike their fluff. What I'm looking for is a Legion/Chapter that wants to improve the lives of humanity both for safety and quality. To reclaim their technological birthright after the years of the Long Night. Close ties to the Mechanicus for the technological aspect and still wanting to discover the human condition and improve upon it. Not sure if there is another published legion like this or if I should just make one up.
You'll be wanting the Adeptus Noblebrightus, purveyors of justice, masters of goodwill.

i suggest a chapter set it in 40k but create them with a fluff background that both illustrates how they can about all these 30k relics and why they are iron handsy/slamandersy
only thing i can think of is that these guys were survivors of istvaan roughly 300 of them got off world and were lost in the warp. they ended up translating in the sol system after the fight for terra and in the time together had created a close bond. they were then founded as a chapter and over 10k years have grown as a fleet based chapter embracing the ideals of both legions. searching for archeotech and saving humanity wherever they go
that way you can have all the cool looking iron hands armour and the cool looking salamanders armour (including pyroclasts which are awesome) but have fluff that fits in with the 40k setting)
While I agree with just about everybody else that you really cant have your cake and eat it too. This is most likely the best idea for the OP since it hits all the bases.

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!
