Guilliman. He doesn't seem crippled by the sense of entitlement that his brothers almost universally have. He also seems to genuinely have the interests of the species in mind, and by species I mean humans, not post-humans. He keeps a level head, isn't ruled by emotions and gets the job done, correctly, the first time.

I really like Angron, I see him as a really tragic hero who once upon a time wanted the best for him and his brothers, but was f'd over by the big E in the most horrible way.
Also I find the Butchers nail extremely interesting, because from how I understand it it gives him a severe clinic depression mixed with way too much testoterone, which gives him way too many anger issues.

Angron is in my eyes a surprisingly deep character, he is a man forced to work as one of the greatest general of his time for a 'Father' he despises, he is expected to conquer worlds for this man and preferably do it calmly.
So his whole gimmick with just sending wave upon wave of soldiers to break the backs of the enemy and thereafter slaughter everyone with chainblade is ultimately a F you to the big E, it's his way of rebelling against a man who took everything from him.

It is my great regret that we live in an age that is proud of machines that think and suspicious of people who try to.

I've always liked Gulliman. I've always found the guy who sits down and pretty much writes the book on what he does to be more intreasting then "rebels without a cause"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Curze, Angron, Magnus, and Lorgar because they each highlight how the Emperor is a dimwit who is ultimately responsible for the heresy and the death of mankind (lets face it, they are toast). Humanity would've been better off without his grandiose crusade and demigod children.

This is very true.

In the HH books, there are descriptions of worlds that are perfectly fine, but are butchered and oppresed just to be in "compliance" with the Emperor's will.

I play DA's but voted Magnus. Didn't deserve what happened to him or his legion and you'd think his dad would've seen it coming and done something about it and not just ignored the situation.

Without a unified government; humanity would have probably been swept away by the reawakening of the Necrons of the Coming of the Tyranids much sooner, rather than having one last chance to die in a blaze of glory.

I've gotta rep Lion el'Jonson

Stupid name, but hes a fething space baby who grew up killing demon-spawn monsters as a baby all alone on a deathworld filled with demon-spawn monsters who just love eating babies. And this baby grew up to be a technoknight who beat up all the knights on the planet who also grew up killing demon-spawn monsters until he became King-knight of that whole awful deathworld.

Later, he would be too busy being a king-boss and his planet blew up. Haters gonna hate.

Would have to be Alpharius as he seemed to be one of the few although still flawed with pride primarchs who wasn't a tool when it came to war.

That and "technically" he was trying to destroy Chaos. His reason for joining the Horus Heresy was the prophecy that was made.

That and he is James Bond

about the emperor, I don't think he was an idiot. I think he was just so ab-human that he simply doesn't function on the same emotional level as his sons, and does not understand their individual turmoil.

Emp might be a genius or he might be an idiot. You have to decide that for yourself.

Maybe he made a cosmic mistake that left him a nasty-looking vegetable watching his great works slowly deteriorating for thousands of years until humanity finally dies out. Talk about grim.

Or maybe Emps whole plan was to have Horus betray him and be confined the the Throne. Maybe right as humanity starts to fail, the Throne turns off, and Falbaddon finally launches a successful crusade (or someone more competent kills Failbaddon and takes the reins), the Emperor will laugh, say "My plan is complete!" and destroy the Chaos gods.

Anyway, my favorite Primarch is Leman Russ. He's just generally a badass.

I am going to separate this into my favorite loyal and my favorite traitor:

My favorite loyalist is Rogal Dorn. I know some have accused him being stubborn and prideful but this is kind of what I like about him but my true respect for him didn't come until I listened to The Last Remebrencer when Dorn's ideals are tested. His fierce loyalty and unwavering will is what I like the most which is why his legion is also my favorite. He realizes that the Imperium isn't perfect but that isn't a reason not to support it, there are other ways to fix problems.

A close second would be Vulkan though.

Favorite traitor is Magnus for all the reasons people have stated, His fall, the treatment of his legion, I have never had so much feels as I have had for Magnus and his legion.

I love Angron. For a character with (initially) such a one-dimensional backstory, he is brought to such amazing life in Betrayer that it just boggles my mind.

I've always identified the most with Vulkan. I see him as one of the brightest spots in am otherwise dark and terrifying universe. I feel that Vulkan epitomizes goodness, heroism and caring for beings who are lesser than he is and he is proud to protect them.

"You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him".

Vulkan wins hands down on this alone for me. He's the kind of guy that if he saw a small wounded creature about to be set upon by a predator, he'd intervene and pull the aggressor's spine out of its ass or knock it into next month with a big fething hammer. I can get on board with a guy like that.

I went with Lion El'Jonson. To sum it up:

"I'm the best because Dad gave me the First Legion! First is best!"

"I'm the best because I'm so smart! Dad just wants to give Horus a chance."

Spoiler:
"I'm so smart I'll hand over something dangeous to someone dangerous because he doesn't seem so dangerous!"

"Wait, what? Uh-oh."

"All right, well, Luther will- hello, where'd the planet go?"

"Oh crap. Guys, do NOT tell Dad about- blast it, Cypher, get back here! Don't forget that snitches get stitches!"

Basically his pride led to one huge fall after another. Seeing him get out of it will be fun.

My favorites are probably Kurze, Fulgrim and Perturabo. Not necessarily because they're great characters, but just because of how damn amusing they are.

Also, Perturabo is the only traitor Primarch with class. He's a classy gai.

Voted for Magnus, Perturabo, and Curze.

I think Magnus's reasons have been well stated. Curze, well he was right, and only did the job that his Dad gave him. For that they stuck the Assassinorum on him. Perturabo got on my fav list after reading Angel Exterminatus and the Forge World books. He was always hosed by his dad and brothers from the start.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. If you do not like it: "I Keeel You!"
