I just want regiment rules for imperial guard. Even if it came as a supplement. Rules for making up your own, and ones for existing models.

If I had that I would be set with 40k for a long time.

I'm all for building a positive image. It would help GW in the long run.
One of GW's biggest problems is that they are so closed off from their consumer base - if their management would just listen and try to get a clue about what they are selling and that they are not the only company in the market, then some things should improve.

Though...wouldn't most of these options give GW a positive image?

Just tighten up the rules. If 40k had a well balanced rule set I could eat their model prices. At least then I would feel like I'm getting some value for my dollar.

I think some two-way communication would really benefit things. We saw how beneficial this was with the GW Digital Editions Facebook page. People could talk to actual GW staff about stuff. I think that something like that, probably in the form of a public GW forum that GW staff can go on would likely help GW's PR, and give them a chance to tell their side of the story at least.

I recall reading something about how GW had branded the internet's discussions/forums as a "toxic" enviroment that they just try to ignore. Well, taking such a hands-off approach is hardly going to help that.

I think communication is the key, simply because it would pave the way for more changes. Right now, no matter what concerns we have about cost, rules, attitude or whatever else, there is absolutely no way for that feedback to get directly to GW. Whether they would change anything, or simply attempt to justify their choices (a more 'official' statement about FW/competitive-vs-casual/'why so expensive?') would do wonders for the company, regardless of the actual response.

If GW were to explicitly say that the rules were meant for casual, narrative play rather than competitive games, although a lot of people wouldn't like it, it would make things clearer. Similarly, if they were to provide a justification for their prices, that would help too.

In a super-ideal world, that communication would lead to changes, like a lowering of prices or a shift in the way rules are released. At the moment, our wallets are the only way to give any kind of feedback, and that's not enough.

Their current production capabilities could do amazing things for a new 6mm range. You could cover a large part of each army using a handful of plastic kits with different components (such as all Rhino variants in one box).

GW would get so much money from me for modern-style 6mm Tyranids.

I figure that if you actually had some lines of communication that went both ways most of the rest of these problems would naturally fix themselves.

I'm honestly a lot more pro-GW than a lot of people on these forums it seems. I don't particularly dislike them as a company and I enjoy their game as something fun to do with my friends. The only thing that really annoys me about them is that they don't talk to us (other than to throw advertisements in our face) and there's sure no way for us to talk to their sales or design team in any meaningful capacity.

Well...that and their ridiculous policies about 3rd party sales.

Geez, I'd love any one of these options.... If I had to pick just one, I'd go with price. I don't get to play often, but I still enjoy collected, building and painted models, if they were cheaper I could afford to do it more.

Of course.

Also, a massively updated SoB codex. I flipped through the fluff part of the Tempestus codex recently, and it was great. Detailed background of the army, lots of colourschemes, lots of individual subfactions with their own fluff... I'd love somethig like that for the Sisters.

I miss the ol' army doctrines too

But prices is #1 for me. I'm ordering my fourth 3rd party boxed set. I always walk into my local game store for a game, determined to buy something to help them stay afloat. I pull out a boxed set, look at the price, laugh, and put it right back. I've found high quality models as really good stand-ins for scions, valkyries, conscripts, and rough riders, each of them at 1/4th the price of GW. Throw in some kit from my bitz box and non-IG players can't even tell (except for my Russian helicopter/valkyrie stand-in). I'd really like to support GW, but I will not pay $35 for five scions.

I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand it'd be great to see them get the kind of update every other army gets rather than continuing to languish as a collector's curiosity. On the other hand I love the current design - my all time favourite 40K models - and wouldn't like to see the look of them change too much. I'm indifferent to or dislike a lot of GW's current aesthetic.

Anyway, I voted for better/balanced rules. 40K is never ever going to be a tight, competitive rules set, but the current imbalances and dominance of shooty/shooty/inq lists isn't good.

Wargaming is an expensive hobby. Period. I'd like to see lower prices on some things, but on the bread-and-butter units the price isn't so high that I'm freaking out about it.

I don't even see any realistic way that "two way communication" would wind up being anything other than endless whining and kvetching that could never possibly be addressed.

Shifting priority to older models and lines seems like a business luxury to me, at least as an industry layman. If it's a money-loser, I'm not going to fault them for not doing it.

Forgeworld being absorbed by GW proper is a lovely idea.

The rules are already pretty high quality. I'd prefer that the way they are on that front, with the addition of regular, meaningful FAQs.

As the biggest fish in the wargaming pond, I don't see any possible reality in which they have a 'positive image' in a community largely composed of contrarians who are convinced that THEY know the best way to do everything.

I vote OTHER. (Eliminate Tyranids.) Nothing would have a more positive impact on the game than axing this army, in my opinion.

Communication and the lowering of model prices would go a long way towards improving their image. I think the main problem is that GW just arbitrarily does things like price raises and we are unable to get answers as to why because they provide no communication with the community. They're just this faceless corporate organization that seems to have no compassion for their consumers.

Voted for better quality rules. It's the single biggest problem with the game right now, fix that problem and the rest doesn't really matter.

GW noticeably lowers model prices

Honestly, I don't care about this too much. Yeah, it's an expensive hobby compared to other games, but compared to other non-gaming hobbies it's pretty cheap. Making everything cheaper wouldn't meaningfully improve my enjoyment of it, it would just let me buy more random clutter.

GW opens a two-way communication channel that actually does something

This becomes redundant if they fix the rules. We only have a desperate need for two-way communication because the idiots running GW aren't capable of making a good game without listening to the community. If the game wasn't completely broken then all we'd have to say is "keep up the good work".

GW shifts priority to older models and rules, and away from 1-squad codices and dataslates etc.

This wouldn't change anything. The single-squad "codices" exist because they're easy filler releases that GW can make with minimal effort. Even if you get rid of them entirely you won't free up enough design resources to make a significant impact on the update schedule for older rules.

GW absorbs Forge World into the main website and hobby centres, effectively ending the FW-GW debate

This would be terrible as a single change. FW is the one part of GW that's actually doing things right, absorb them into "main" GW and you lose all of that. The only benefit would be ending the "debate", but honestly the TFGs who ban FW rules aren't worth playing anyway. And they'd probably just find some other excuse to whine and cry about.

Less focus on moneygrabs and more focus on building a positive image (By hosting good tournaments, for example)

Like two-way communication this is redundant if GW stops publishing garbage. If their products were better then they'd have a good enough image, and tournaments and similar events are already handled by third-party groups. Official GW tournaments wouldn't really add anything, and would probably suck anyway without fixing the rules.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

For me its Just. Lower. Prices. Eeeeeeeeeverything else could be fan instigated. Just make the damn models cheaper. The margins must be insane right now, but if no one buys them then what does it matter? I would buy an imperial knight for a hundred bucks, but the cost 200 bucks. So gw makes no bucks from me.
