My only concern is the terrain. If I was to play it I'd want to have a set up like the ones you've pictured with the 3d elements (does height matter on attacks as it did in FF:tactics?)

It matters abstractly, you can gain 'Vantage' by being higher than your target, and each model has a 'Jump' stat that controls how high they can go in a single movement. Neither of these elements are game breaking if you play on a flat surface.

I'm not very familiar with terrain creation, is there any tutorials or ready made options for this style of terrain?

Tonio, the Dakka User who built our fantastic tables has a thread in our subsection where he goes over the steps for creating our tables our of blue/pink insulation foam boards. The most budget friendly (but not pretty) means of playing is with grid paper/gaming mats, and placing numbers in the squares to indicate what height each square is. We've also been working to produce a modular gaming table for general sale, but we don't have an exact date on it.. and its not ready enough for us to easily include as part of the kickstarter.

Any chance of some pledge level/add-on previews before the KS launches cyp?
As long as it doesn't ruin any hidden surprises of course.

Step Right up...

To make reward selection as easy for you as possible, this Kickstarter will use a 'picking' system. Each pledge level provides a certain amount of "Fals" (the fictional currency of Endless). Each miniature or other item will cost a number of "Fals", starting at 1 for normal sized miniatures (25mm Base), with larger miniatures (50mm+ Base) costing 2 or more. This way you know from the outset how many miniatures or items are coming with your pledge level, rather than having to wait for your chosen bundle to get more added to it.

- This is the "Fals" icon, next to each item on the goal charts you'll see this Icon.

Here are the items covered by the base goal. To the Left of each item's name is the number of Fals it'll take, and above the name it will show the crystal cost of the model.

So as you can see, the base goal includes 8 Fals worth of Minis (5 Non-Unique, 3 Unique for gameplay) and 2 Fals worth of other items. Each stretch goal will add 1 to 4 Fals worth of stuff, generally miniatures.

Every pledge level will include the digital rewards tier (Endless: Fantasy Tactics Rulebook, The Miasma War Expansion Book, Cards for all units within both books, and the AI Cards) allowing new folks to easily get started.

There will be no discount early birds, but pledge levels will be limited to control shipping.

Here is today's Meet Ahm Nausalla

The first Dragon Slayer, In a berserker rage, the young hunter fed on the blood of her kill, gaining great strength and magical power. Her techniques were honed, after her victory, to teach others of the ice-clad city of Ineb how to fight back against the winged beasts. All modern Dragoons train in the fighting style of Ahm Nausalla and carry on her legacy.
Because of her more brutal strength, Ahm’s attacks ignore some of the target’s defense each time she strikes. Like 2 point Dragoons, the 3 point Ahm has a number of ATK+MAG abilities, including a HP drain, giving her a massive amount of survivability; an important attribute for a 3 point character, as they are often the first target of the opponent. Though effective against almost any target, Ahm truly shines against Large Models, gaining a buff to every combat stat. Dragons and Trolls beware!

Ahm Nausalla will be sculpted by Patrick Keith.

Today's Road to The Miasma War – Meet Rin Azel

The youngest member of the Azel merchant dynasty, Rin is an alchemical and business genius. Creating a living, moving building, the “Azel Emporium”, the young shop keep travels the world hawking her wares. From time to time, she finds an adventuring party that catches her interest, and follows them on their quest, hoping to gain a monopoly on their item and equipment needs.

In combat, the 3 point Rin has a number of abilities related to items, making the selection of her item cards very important. Giving her all health potions puts her into a healer/support role, but stat boosting items that up her ATK or DEF can put her on the front line very easily. She is also effective against other models with high ITM value, using Crippling Debt to cause Stop equal to their currently held ITM. This ability also forces the target to reveal their Item cards, a unique ability of this character.

Rin Azel will be sculpted by Patrick Keith.

Additionally, we've signed up with Skykadia to provide a Pledge Calculator during the campaign, and a Pledge Manager afterwards.

We also received a WIP pic of the Lunarian sculpt from Patrick this weekend, so we'll likely have the finished sculpt to show off during the start of the campaign.

I just realized those AI cards were what they said they were.

Does this mean we can play against the board, or do a bit of co-op? Will that also extend to the campaign?

Co ops are usually an easier sell in my house.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Yes, Solo/Co-Op play is in the base goal, and that's for both the units in the Core Rulebook and The Miasma War Units & Campaign.

Campaign starts tomorrow at noon est.

Today's Meet Yulea Seablade

The life of a pirate is harsh and unforgiving, but that didn’t stop Yulea Azel from seizing her family’s merchant ship, the Seablade and taking to the high seas. Gathering a crew from all walks of life, Yulea’s reputation has grown with each victory and raid. From time to time, the sly Corsair even strikes the Azel shipping lines, just to remind them that she is out there, stalking their wealth.

With so many passive effects working off of the Basic Attack command, Yulea Seablade is a great ‘simple’ 3 point character. Able to move twice before, make a second attack, and gain a defense buff, Yulea has a great threat range and hits hard. Her low DEF though, means she might be best used with a support model, or to cut down enemies already at low HP, just to avoid getting in a prolonged fight. The high HP means she can go a few turns against low point models without help, but a lucky roll could put her down quick.

Yulea Seablade will be sculpted by Patrick Keith.

I think what you mean is the lack of lizardmen.

Pledged regardless. I'm thinking Heroscape terrain might be a good stand in, especially since it's easy to make variable levels of height in one step increments.

I love the heroscape tiles.

You might find since they're hexes that the AoE and Facing rules get a bit wonky, but those are easy enough to tweak.

Yeah, I figure as long as we're careful with adjacent areas and making sure obstacles/ buildings actually fit into the tiles we want them to, it should be alright.

I don't think I even have many Heroscape figures left, but I swear the pile of tiles is never ending!

Damn! I had talked myself out of backing due to a lack of compatible terrain. I never thought about the mountain of those tiles I've got laying around.

You'll lose the 3-D terrain aspects of the game, but RPG mats work really well for getting quick games in. Game Mastery, Chessex, or even Heroclix, if a little oversized, can do the trick.

I'll toss this link into an update later tonight, but here is the pledge calculator:

It currently only calculates Fals, but I'll have Kenny add in the printed books in the near future.

Hello Cyporiean. I love the Kickstarter. Love how the tiers are set up. Especially love the unlocks section graphic. How did I not know about this tabletop homage to JRPGs before!

Very cool campaign. I will make sure to mention your campaign in a video blog on my own Kickstarter. I will link it when it is up. Glad to support a fellow Dakkaite.

I have gotten a few requests for a signature banner that you can use to help us promote our campaign. Thank you very much for your support.

Calculator is updated to add in the Summoner (I knew I was forgetting something...) and it also now calculates the priced add-ons in addition to the Fals based ones.

Thanks CC. Been a fan of your stuff in Ultraforge, and I'm looking forward to seeing that Canadian Chimera unlock.

I'm looking forward to getting the Fire Troll done, and seeing what painters do with it. A nice mix of OSL from the lava flesh, and a slight shine for the Obsidian armor/gemstone facemask.

Might cast a few clear and light it.

@RTides

Those are some pretty nice trolls, would look great cast up in different shades of clear resin, or maybe mounted on diorama clear cast bases.

That dragon is really cool too, reminds me a bit of the ones from Odin Sphere/Dragons Crown series of games. Not to sound egotistic
but I think I could probably sculpt that, how big is meant to be, size/ height, base wise?

The Dragon will be on a large base, so 50mm Square, and probably be around Heavy Warjack size.

In other news, Rollin' All Ones (aka Ramos a few posts above me), has finished up the paint job for The Crusader (Sculpted by Patrick Keith).

If you fancy her, she is in the pledge manager.
