Subject: Which Axis and Allies miniatures are suitable for Flames of War.

I want to make a fully plastic army if I can, I prefer for a reason I cant explain to have all models of the same material if possible, though that isnt a hard rule. It my army is mostly plastic but with one or two resin or metal models that is ok, but I would prefer to source more plastic first. Even if it is a softer plastic.
So I eventually discovered Axis and Allies miniatures, or more accurately rediscovered it and took interest for the first time.
Now I do know that sculpts vary in mold quality, authenticity and scale, but some should be ok, and others can have enough stowage or mud to cover their sins.
So I am looking at the following miniatures as priority
M8 greyhound
Jeep - there are at least three different leleases
Kubelwagen
SD KFZ 71 - Not too important because its listed as 'rare' so it might not sell at a price that worth buying at.
Does anyone own these miniatures and can comment on their suitability. I can accept a poorer quality model but not a notiably out of scale one.

I'm strangely OCD on not mixing plastic and metal models in my armies, so I did look at A&A models a while back.
However, since many of the "good" tanks are rares or uncommon, it is actually cheaper to get just regular gaming models in 15mm.
I have some A&A Daimler Dingos that work quite well. Super cheap too - like seventy cents per model on Ebay. That is because they are commons.
Sorry, I can't speak to much else though.... Nothing else made economic sense at the time.

A&A minis vary in scale. Some work well (T26s IIRC) but most look out of scale, they are also quite poor quality and they can be expensive/hard to track down.
I was going to go down the A&A route a few years ago but quickly changed my mind when I tried to actually get the models I wanted and saw some in the flesh.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Indeed, but its because they vary in quality and scale that I need to find someone who will individually review the vehicles mentioned in the OP.
One or more may fit the bill like your T26's, and the models I am after do turn up from time to time on eBay. Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit of OP due to horrendous typo in thread title.

Don't get any vehicles from the first 5 sets, those vehicles did not have a consistent scale.
The vehicles in the last 5 sets (listed below) should be close to 15mm.
1939-45
NorthAfrica 1940-43
EasternFront 1941-1945
Early War 1939-1940
Counter Offensive 1941-1943

Throgh a bit of research I was able to ascertain that the M8 Greyhound is properly scaled.
By using the later Jeeps I will be able to field a fully plastic CRP for my US Armor company.

Does anyone know if the tetrarchs from the axis and allies d-day series be about the flames of war size?

No idea but i know how to find out.
With the exceptions of air and sea units all miniatures after and including the 1939-45 release are 15mm. All infantry are 15mm and some vehicles prior to that release.
To find which release a unit is in go here:
https://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/aam/gallery
To find out which are in sale go to Google images and eBay and look at image that show comparisons. This i how i finally worked ou the actual size of the M8 Greyhound, from an eBay seller who had comparison pictures.
We are far from the first to look into this, but so far nobody over the years have bothered to scale up and review all the vehicles providing a compatibility list. I was hoping someone on Dakka with an Axis & Allies Miniatures collection could do this.

Boom! Leman Russ Commander

The jeeps are fine. Also, general guideline is to only go for vehicles from the releases with years.
I have bought M11/39, AB41, StuG A, jeeps and M5 half-tracks from AA. When painted up, they all work just fine. The half-tracks are probably the worst quality of the above. The others you have to examine closely to see the quality difference from BF.
