I'm considering it, never actually played Kill Team yet, but I need a list for a campaign. The AP 3 will be good since no one is allowed to have 2+ saves. I took a taurox since it's cheaper and higher strength, in case there are vehicles against me. Also because chimeras have a lot of shots that will be wasted against single models. The taurox will let the scions move at speed with the rough riders.
Scions (6)
- specialist ignores cover
Rough Riders
- specialist hatred
- specialist preferred enemy
Taurox
- HK Rocket
Or...this build everyone has 4+ saves, my veterans provide long range support to pick off dangerous enemies, while my scions lead the charge.
Veterans
- Carapace
- Bolt pistol
- Plasma gun (specialist master crafted)
- Sniper (specialist preferred enemy)
- Sniper
- Heavy Bolter (specialist relentless)
Scions (7)
- Bolt pistol

I'm almost positive both the Chimera and Taurox allow you to target 5 separate targets in a Kill Team style game.
Taurox:
-whatever weapon you place on it
-4 fire ports on the vehicle
Chimera:
-Multi laser / Heavy bolter
-2 fire ports on the vehicle
-2 independently firing lasgun arrays (which can each target separate units)

I tried them out, they worked out ok!
relentless and volley gun is nasty, the only downside is the lack of efficient anti horde stuff.
They worked pretty well, but take this with a pinch of salt as I wasn't playing in the most competitive of environments
The Taurox Prime's gatling is very effective, but not overtly OP in kill team (mainly because of 4+ saves and plentiful cover)

The taurox targets one unit, the fire port units target another. I don't think the transportees can splitfire, that's a specific rule of the chimera lasgun arrays (which...seriously GW? letting us have BS4 on the lasgun arrays would be too OP?). I guess three lasguns against individual models could be pretty good, but the Taurox would allow four HS-las guns to shoot, while the chimera would only allow two.
In full-size games, I'm sticking with the chimera's multilaser, heavy bolter, heavy stubber, but I feel like that is probably a lot of over kill against individual models (while not being great v vehicles and tough creatures) hence the taurox autocannon, and the saved points lets me get extra models on the table.

Your range 18, my puppies move 12 without being slowed by intervening difficult terrain and can charge 12, they've faced full on marines and easily made it into melee.
And once there the wolves are in cc ws4 s4 t4 i4 meaning they'll stand a pretty good change of eating scions before they get to attack.
And while your shooting at them your ignoring the grey hunters and lone wolf close on their heels.
Guard veterans would be a more worrying opponent than weak sauce scions.

I bow down to your Hannibal level tactics, your intimate knowledge of both codices and their strengths and weaknesses amaze and astound me.
Now we've got the inevitable myarmyisbetterthanyours out the way, in my view Scions can be run 2 ways, either with 2 5man squads filled with SpecWeps, or a clump of them to augment some IG veterans.
Remember, they've got krak 'nades and are sliiiightly more survivable than normal guardsmen.
Also, Taurox Prime in kill team with the gatling is fun.
Them, and mentions of GWs financial policies tend to be fairly effective derailers I've found.

I like the sound of that list. I may pick up some to play them as my Kill Team army. Sound like a fun little elite unit to play around with.

AP 3 is far from bad, but 18'' range isn't something you want most of the time, its darn shame.
Some volley guns can help with the horde problem and with range, a bit, but it can only do so much.

I've run them as AM entry stormtroopers, 10 Scions, Bolt PIstol on sergeant, 2 Volley guns and a stock Taurox, 200 points flat and works fairly well.
I put Ignore Cover on one volley gun, relentless on the other and Sniper on one of the regular scions, at least lets him wound easier.
