I think the base problem is no matter how you convert it, it looks like a GI Joe toy.

I agree ouze, i don't think the model is redeemable. Even the Khornemower can actually look good if you put it on DFG leviathan legs instead of the track section. I do not think the Taurox has any redeeming features.

It's the damn suspension + treads, you need to lower it significantly for a wheeled conversion to not look like a Wacky Racer.

I'd like to see a HMMWV (Hummer) model in 1/48 or whatever scale would be appropriate next to the Taurox. An up-armored Hummer is pretty much on par for what the Taurox is anyway since they make them with TOW missiles and remote weapon systems on top anyway.

I'm really hoping the front of that model is still WIP...

I've been deorkifying a battlewagon. It's a little further along now. I've got the Teef completely removed from the dozer. And Chapterhouse wheels. Just trying to work out a turret.

There's some teef on the sides of the plow left. ;x As for the turret.. the costy and pretty way would be a Baneblade turret if it's not too big in size. Otherwise a Leman Russ vanquisher long gun would be a fairly good bet.
I don't think that the Taurox model is that bad - it looks fairly true to the real world design of armoured trucks / MRAPs, just 40kified to remove some realism. Most people seem to hate it, but I think it's only because of the fact that it is much different than any other Imperial vehicle, which is a good thing for me - finally something that's not built on Rhino, Chimera or Russ chassis - a big plus. Well, that and the weird, trippy idea of a quad track that is hit or miss for most(some people do not mind it). x)

But for the OP, check out the Hammer APC. $23 and it looks similar in form and I think the dimensions are pretty close too. I've never ordered from these guys before though.
Anyone here ever seen one in person or bought one of those hammer apcs? These things are roughly even with the chimera GW makes pricewise, and I'm sure they're much cheaper for Canadians, Aussies, etc. Shipping is only 6 bucks to the US from what I can tell, which is pretty nice. I don't know if I would use these for Tauroxes, but they would make excellent chimeras.

The Taurox looks squished, like an SD version of the real thing. The nonsensical treads don't help either, but even with those replaced, there is nothing you can do with the body to make it look like an in-scale vehicle. It will always appear chibified.

IG vehicles have always looked cartoony. Nothing new here people.

Chibi Taurox would want you to enter it, senpai..!
Too bad they're so bad they will never see the board in any AM army because everything about them is inferior to Chimeras. Even the Prime version is only acceptable in Tempestus army but then again it's just because it's the only ground vehicle they get.
I don't think it looks squished or chibified, though.. looking at most MRAPs, it's only slightly different. The main reason for people to find it strange is most likely the thing that it's so much different in style than any other Imperial vehicle(mostly because it's not built on yet another Rhino, Chimera or Russ chassis). The model itself is really great - details, interior, options for turret.. quite some customizability and conversion potential. I personally don't mind that silly quad track suspension, but they probably should've used wheels just like any other MRAP does.

That's because the vehicle it's based off of had a flat surface for the front as well. Leaving a giant exposed radiator is just begging for your engine to get shot.
Honestly, I think a spare tire mounted to the front like the original 251 sometimes had would fix the problem.
Here's a "plain" 251 like how the DFG vehicle is
And here's some with stowage or spare parts stuck to the front. Just a few little bits an bobs would cover up the "unfinished" front nicely.
