That's what I'm wondering. After hearing about it the other day and looking at the gorgeous model, I'm interested in the model's viability in both friendly and competitive settings. Note that I'm using DE as allies for my CWE, so keep stuff like Guide on the Tantalus in mind.

Being able to transport a 10man strong unit of Grotesques and IC can be terrifying. Not sure if it is competitive, but fun it is.

Isn't the tantalus's capacity 15?? So that's 7 grots+IC... Not to shabby still.

16, last I read. Still 7 Grots + IC, but you can add an extra IC if you want to make the squad even more of a target.

Or just fill it with kabbies or trueborn for a ridiculously shooty gun platform.

@OP; It's awesome and kills a lot of everything, but becomes a target right quick and AV 12 isn't enough to survive with Open Topped. That said, costing less now points-wise than it did before and having 4 hull points, it's still pretty solid for DE.

Plus, like you said... Gorgeous.

I field it mostly for looks but the 12 Disruptor shots are pretty nice, especially vs Tau. I field it as a fluff choice in a not incredibly competitive meta. It does tend to become a target so either flicker fields or night shields(I forget which on it comes with) is a must have. I throw a squad of Incubi and the Archon on there, although against tau they rarely make the charge.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

I own one, yet to use it though... my plan is/was to get three and put three units of Incubi in them, each with a Haemonculous

From what I've heard it's size makes it a high priority target to a lot of players, so expect a lot of firepower aimed at it.

Yeah, it is a very large model, thats for sure, and because of that it will draw a lot of attention because it *looks* like its a superheavy (which in many peoples minds = very powerful), unfortunately its fragile which makes it easier to take down, though it is more durable than other DE vehicles, so it does have some survivability to it.

I thought it was 22 for some reason. Still 7 grots and 2 ICs would be terrifying.

AV 12 box, 4 hull, two pulse disintegrators (6 shot disintegrators), comes standard with shields iirc, also has some special flyover rule for its monoscythe bladevanes or whatever, costs about as much as a landraider.

Pass over a vehicle, it's STR 7 AP2 hitting the sides.

or

Pass over a unit for D6 number of hits.

I really like it to deliver the unit of Incubis or Grots.

I need to paint it up though.

It's worth noting that when Scythevane is used against a vehicle, it's an automatic S7 AP2 hit with the Armourbane USR. Scary.

Also, it's actually 5 HPs. This thing is as close to being a Super-Heavy as possible without actually being one.

That blasted price, though...

5??? Wow, definitely don't remember it being that high, nor do I remember the scythevane having armourbane... I need to pay more attention... and buy two more

Those are rules from the Imperial Armour: Apocalypse (2013). The Tantalus really seems good.

Can an archon court still take it as a dedicated transport. If so, might be fun. Using a heavy slot on it would suck.

Yes because if you have a group of them you can refer to them as my Titties.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Errr.... no??

Yes, the archon court still has them as a transport option IIRC.
