Hiyas, I made this diorama as a competition piece for Genghis Con in Denver this February. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I got a 2nd place for it! I've had a lot of Reaper figures sitting around and wanted to make a fantasy battle scene out of them, fighting a monster. Something fun to do for my collection. When I saw this Reaper Frost Wyrm I knew it was for me.

The Frost Wyrm was quite a lot of work to assemble, I had to pin it together almost entirely, with lots of super glue and paper clips. The base is a cheap pine base from hobby lobby, stained with minwax and the groundwork was all done with sculpted insulation foam, floor tile adhesive for texture and lots of real rocks, dirt and sand. Foliage is mixed stuff from Woodland Scenics and Army Painter. Painted with Apple Barrel acrylics and AK interactive washes.

Figures mainly painted with Citadel and Vallejo. All figures are Reaper with the exception of the viking warrior guy, think he's from Dark Sword, and the female rogue, from the Elmore series.

Hope you enjoy, C&C most welcome!

I like the scene, very D&D style, I'll always remember fondly
those evenings passed playing and those random wilderness encounters " suddendly while you cross the ridge....", nice memories!

I agree, very nicely done and invokes lots of memories from back in the D&D days. Inspires me to look into trying my hand at something like this!

Looks very cool and does have a great D&D vibe going on.

The viking warrior guy is from Red Box Games, I have one sat on my table.

I'm going to see if I can find that rouge mini now, you painted her really nicely

Ahh, I'll have to check Red Box games, as the viking is a really good sculpt. The female rogue is from Dark Sword, their Elmore master series IIRC.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

Very nice diorama. There's a lot of movement and it really tells a story.

Very, very nice work Cave Dweller. Poor old snake-lizardy creature is just minding his own business on a Sunday afternoon, then a bunch of hooligan scum turn up to steal his shiny thing collection!

The ground is all scratch built? It looks fantastic.

Love dioramas. This one is very evocative of D&D, as many have noted - which is awesome. You did a nice job of ensuring the poses appeared natural given the setting and coming battle. The set up of figures is well done and is to read. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

He was asking for it. Besides, how are the heroes going to level up without some monster fodder during their adventures? Although, this one could go badly.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, glad, you liked it!
