Just wondering how many devourers I should have and how many gaunts in a unit. Curently I am planning to use 15 devourers in units of 30. I will be using the normal gaunts as abalative wounds.

Yeah, 15 in a unit of 30 is good, I'd recommend at least 10 Fleshborer Gaunts as ablative wounds.

Yes, I find a 50/50 fleshborer to devourer ratio is best. Saves points and keeps combat effectiveness.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

I like 10 Devourers and 20 Spinefists.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

As someone considering getting nids but don't have the codex, can you run spike rifles instead of flesh borers for the extra range?

Yes but you significantly reduce your killing power. I don't think it's worth it.

Having run the math I understand that against T6 and lower, but not by much, and I prefer the devourers for Tervigon spawns.

50/50 is good. You increase your shooting output by 100% and your price only goes up by 50%.

10/20 also works - your shooting output goes up by 66% but your price only goes up by 33%.

You can't have devourers for babies the Tervigon pops, they are basic fleshborergaunts and can't get upgrades.

-Hive Fleet Wyvern, yay for nids! (around 1000 points)

I think he was refering to the 30 man squad you have to take?

I run two three unit types for termagants.

12 Devourers/18 Fleshborers

(After hours of math hammering, I find this to be the most cost effective for it's points and survivability. It's also best when outflanking)

Stock
(All purposes with a great gun...a bolt pistol)

20 Fleshborers / 10 spike rifles
(to get those shots in from the back ranks that normally wouldn't be getting to shoot otherwise)

Most folks set them at 50/50 ratio. I would reccomend 2/1 in favor of the Spines/base guns. So 5 Dev.'s, 10 Spinegaunts, x 15 in brood. As an example..... (6-7 in a Brood of 20)

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER

I'd never reommend Spike Rifles with Devourers. If your Devourers have range from the back ranks...those ablative wound termagants should have fleshborer range.
